  1. I wish I could see the replay better to get an idea of how that play got muffed. D in the backfield? D was in the backfield, but the ball was just dropped. he probably saw the defensive player and got distracted.
  2. that is a dumb call, imho. high risk for not much reward.
  3. a lot of red jerseys standing around motionless when that ball was tipped...
  4. never seen the shovel pass under osborne? what is he talking about....
  5. I had a similar surgery about 12 years ago. My lower jaw was too big, so they cut out a section from each side and slid it back. I know what you mean about the swelling. It is crazy, and takes a while to go down. When the swelling goes down, your sinuses will open up and you will be amazed by the stuff coming out of your nose...

  7. I would love to see Taylor succeed at the next level, but I don't think it is going to happen. He seems like a very smart player, but doesn't have the physical assets to be an NFL quarterback. Danny Wuerffel won a Heisman, but couldn't succeed in the NFL because of his weak arm. Taylor might get drafted; if not, he'll probably at least sign with a team as free agent, but I doubt he is every anything other than a third string quarterback. Of course, some might consider that NFL success for a QB from Nebraska.
  8. i'm not sure that i agree with the author's criteria for determining the best "two sport" schools. under his system, school that dominates one sport but is horrible at the other gets a respectable rating. case in point is Illinois, which is listed number 42. they dominate basketball, but their football program is a joke (they've won like one conference game in five years). that's not a sign of a good "two sport" school. i would say that nebraska, with a weak basketball team, and a mediocre (though rebuilding) football team, over the last few years is more of a two sport school than illinois.
  9. No, I am not. If you read my post you will see that I acknowledged that he may make stops against the run, accounting for a lot of his tackles. That doesn't make him a good CB. A CB, first and foremost, prevents his receivers from making catches. Stopping the run, for a CB, is just gravy and not the meat and potatoes of his position. And no, I didn't say he was worse than Grixby in coverage, but I don't think he is very good.
  10. Ok, fine, but the number one job of a CB is to keep the receiver you're covering from catching the ball. Number two is making tackles against the run. Stop pass completions and you're a competent CB. Stop pass completions and make tackles against the run, and you could be a great CB. Make tackles against the run, and be a poor coverage guy, and you should find yourself on the bench.
  11. Actually, you are probably not a very good CB if you are leading the defense in tackles, as that means the receivers you are covering are making a lot of catches.
  12. so very wrong. though it doesn't exactly seem worthy of up to four years in prison...
  13. The problem is that a lot of people look at success post-Heisman (i.e., NFL) to determine if the player was any good. Personally, I think the Heisman is clearly for the best college football player that year, and not the best NFL prospect. A lot of people disagree with me, which is why Tommie Frazier lost to Eddie George.

  15. yeah, there's already the chance that the vice president is going to shoot you in the face. now you just multiply that danger by 10,000.
  16. This is crazy. Bad practical jokes should not result in criminal prosecution.
  17. P.S. -- When running on the treadmill, DO NOT hold on the rails while running. Doing so makes it easier to run, but it cheats yourself of the full workout, and then you have no idea how hard of a workout you really got.
  18. When I am training for a race, be it a short 5k or a marathon, and i want to set a specific time, i will often mix in running on a treadmill to set a pace. When you run you naturally start to run slower when you get tired, but it doesn't feel like you are running slower, because you are progressively getting more tired. The treadmill neutralizes that, because it forces you to keep running at the same pace. That is why I like using a treadmill, occasionally. But you should still run outside to get used to the idea of running in the cold. Based upon your comments, I suggest you run every other day, and alternate running outside and inside on a treadmill. When you run outside, run 2 to 3 miles, at a "comfortably fast" pace. You don't have a lot of time before you take the test, so you need to make the most of your training. Running 2 to 3 miles will give you a lot of stamina, and make running 1.5 miles seem easy. The other days you will run inside on the treadmill at just faster than your goal pace of 8:30 minutes per mile (you need to run 1.5 miles at just over an 8:30 minute per mile pace). Most treadmills set their speed by miles per hour -- an 8:30 minute mile is 7.0 miles per hour, so I suggest running at 7.1 miles per hour to give yourself a small cushion. Set the treadmill at 7.1 miles per hour and try to run for the complete 1.5 miles. If you can't do it at the start, fine, just try your hardest, and work up to 1.5 miles. After you can can run 1.5 miles at 7.1 miles per hour, start to add some incline to to the treadmill for half of the run (a very small amount of incline makes it significantly harder, so don't go crazy cranking up the incline). After you have done that a few times, see if you can run further than 1.5 miles at 7.1 miles per hour, with incline. Based upon your comments, you should be able to do this easy. The other thing you need to remember is that you will have a lot of adrenalin coursing through your body on the day of the test, which will make it easier to run faster. The only trick to that is that you need to be careful not to run too fast at the start and then be too tired to keep running at the end. This is another reason why using the treadmill is a good idea, because it will give you a feel for what is the right pace. If you run enough, you "know" your pace without needing a watch. Good luck. I'll be happy to answer any other specific questions you might have.
