Blitzes are just that blitzes if your personnell isnt good enough to make it work. What i saw was blitz after blitz where backers were running into lineman and too slow to get there. I get that every defense has assignments, what i dont believe is that once the play is progressing its a good policy to MAKE SURE TO STAY IN OUR SPOT as ruud and co did. No sense in arguing with a know it all. you wanna throw stats out about number of blitzes etc and what other coaches say fine I want a defense that attacks with the best athletes possible and if that means Octo headhunts over ruud with a thumb up his arse then so be it. I want a defense that plays the best players and that hasnt happened yet. stats are just that stats. they dont win games. show me the stat that says how much our blitzes worked, it would be laughable. and yes freelancing does happen. Terrell farley is listed on this post more than once. he freelanced all the time, in fact he was out of position more than in position. for example when he played there was no defense where his position would line up in a 3 point stance yet he repeatedly lined up that way. Once game when he had 2 picks both came when he was completely on the wrong side of the field, this is fact iknow it to be fact thats all im going to say. I know LB and what they do Demarrio Williams would not have played on this defense in my opinion because he wouldnt have been disciplined enough. I just hope that we play the best players and unleash their potential. Ask Mack Brown who he'd rather see on the field, Octo or Ruud stop throwin out meaningless stats. Our defensive mentality is BEND DONT BREAK and that wont get it done when necessary

How soon we forget, in 1995 we had a guy named McBride. He liked to attack and freelance and crush people and gang tackle and be nasty and dirty and mean. He said mano y mano boys . Octo would have been an all american under him. Today we have a guy named Coz. He likes to say stay in your spot dont go crush someone, dont play with attitude, sorry young man you are the better athlete but this other guy, well he knows his assignments he may not make plays but he is in the right spot. All i know is the best defenses in america the last 20 years are the ones designed around speed and attitude. gang tackles and mean streaks the LB will be Sam Mckeon Mike Dillard Will Ruud atlthough i believe it should be Sam McKeon Mike Dillard Will Octavien IMO We can continue to add good athletic players but until are defense decides to take on a different attitude we will be middle of the pack. Hopefully im wrong. this year with Bowman and Murillo at cb with better safeties it will be very INTERESTING to see if our CB still play 15 yards off of the line of scrimmage. I just dont think we will see any difference because it is coz's way BEND DONT BREAK.

i am not.......just wondering why Lucky is so damn insecure and why the kid should be coddled? i am sure he has a thousand excuses, but it looks to me like he needs to suck it up like Glenn and Wilson...actually it doesn't really matter, he will be what he will be......but if cally plays favorites to save face with his 5 star guy, then that creates another problem, don't you think? i dunno, guess i am skeptical, only his play this season will tell us more about the kid......hope i am wrong, but there are always some who need/crave more attention than others.... If cally playes favorites it will be a problem absolutely, but not if lucky is in the lineup. the problems will be if he plays favorites and Ruud and Grixby are in the lineup. There is the favoritism id look for if any is going to happen

no i am getting blind bashing of people that we dont know. i am getting the questioning of people s characters and integrity i am getting a bunch of people with GOD syndrome people who feel they are justified in making childish assumptions I definitely am not talking about all of you but there are a lot of you and you know who you are

It is a good move for him and a sign that Cally does know what he is doing I did some research and started looking at schools across the country and the players that have left. in the last 10 years i counted the number of transfers from here (the best of my knowledge) and compared them i found 15 of the first 18 schools i looked at had more transfers some significantly more. schools like miami, fla st, fla, bama. tennesse, maryland, nc st, usc, oregon to name a few. why do we have to be so damn negative first lucky is a bad human being a turncoat selfish baby a man whose word means nothing now cally sucks and our program is rapidly falling and players are gonna jump ship and blah blah blah blah this site has turne out to be nothing like i thought it would i joined to talk about football and get opinions and hash out the games and get a boost since there is nothing until next august but what i turn out to have gotten is as close to a husker bashing website as ive ever seen i believe i am gonna start spending my time elsewhere may have to pay for huskersillustrated

I am glad he is staying and i cant wait til the end of next season to hear all of the loud gagging and choking sounds as a majority of you yank and pull and twist your foot trying to get it out of your mouths. I believe Lucky is going to have a huge year and that he is going to prove a lot of naysayers wrong. cant wait. I think a lot of credit is deserved (as mentioned above) for coming to a decision without making rash judgements. A lot of players would have just left and made all kinds of excuses but he went about it like a man and workd it out. I for one am glad he stayed and am happy to have him here. He was our best back last year and is going to blow up this year

Controversy doesnt bother me but people making rash assumptions on a subject they have no knowledge of is stupid. have an opinion fine, but to directly question the integrity of a person is assenine. here's one for all of ya. a friend of a girlfriend who's sister dates the brother of the boyfriend of mo pure's sister said that mopure didnt like nunn because nunns girlfriend was hotter than his so he is going to go to the coaches and demand that either nunn gets kicked off of the team or he himself is quitting. there you go lets see how much BS you can spew about the person and integrity of mo pure.

This is getting blown out of proportion. How can we question this man's integrity and his person when we know absolutely nothing about the situation other than what we have read. Do we know the depths of his relationship with blake, do we know how the injury truly affected him emotionally, NO We dont know dick about the situation so please stop making stupid assumptions and let it be what it is. i read everyones points and think about them and respect them but the bottom line is this. IT IS FREAKING WAKE FOREST, WE ARE NEBRASKA, HERE THERE ANYWHERE A LOSS TO THEM IS UNACCEPTABLE, PERIOD I CANT BELIEVE PEOPLE ARE MAKING EXCUSES ALREADY, IF WE LOSE TO THEM THE SEASON IS A WASTE, WE HAVE THE TALENT TO GO WITH ONE LOSS TO USC, AND WE COULD POSSIBLY BEAT THEM. I want to clear the air mainly because i am new to the board and do not want to start off on the wrong foot. I am a greedy fan, i want wins all sorts of wins and no losses. I want titles Big 12 and NC all sorts of titles. I am a die hard just like all of you. I respect and like every player that steps on the field for us, period. so when i say that i would rather see a certain player play it is not a knock on the other player. There has been much debate about Swift, Petersen, and Ruud. They are huskers so i think they are great. But....... Remember I want Championships nothing less. I dont believe that championships are available with swift and petersen being your primary receivers or with Ruud being a mainstay on Defense. I reiterate, that while they are nice players very nice players, they are not what is needed to get us over the hill. It is our staffs job to take the more skilled and more athletically gifted recruits and coach them up past and beyond the players playing. If that is done, then i dont believe you will see Ruud playing Defense much next year, or swift and petersen running routes much next year. in conclusion, bashing these HUSKERS is not my objective. We as fans all want the same thing CHAMPIONSHIPS. To get these we need to hope that the more skilled and athletic players step up to their potential and outplay the current players. If they do then these players wont be on the field, if they dont then we will see a lot of the same results Their is a reason that Purify peaked and declined, teams realized that Taylor had limitations, they doubled MOPURE and trusted that the other WR took a step longer to get open and that Taylor was who he was. If the more athletic WR step up teams will not have that luxury. Teams ran and threw at Ruud because the coaching staffs new he had limitations. If the more talented players step up then that luxury is gone. No matter who plays Ill be there regardless the weather with pride. after all i am A HUSKER. side NOTE How bout this....... If Asante is everything we have heard, why not Green and Thenarse at safety with Dillard in the Middle and Asante and Octo on the outside. Our second half deficiencies were directly related. smart, heart, etc didnt get it done he couldnt get it done. he was special for our program but not nearly what was needed for the next level Ruud mirrors this heart smarts being in the right place doesnt get it done. for every play made because of technique 4-5 were missed because of lack of talent. our D needs playmakers not nice guys who are legacy's (someone elses quote) Ruud lacks a lot and i dont believe a Big 12 title or NC is obtainable if he is in the game.

Bjax is gone and good luck no best of luck to him. For all those crying in there milk get over it, this is not a loss to the huskers. It is getting old hearing all this best all around back BS. He was good but not even our best. Lucky WILL have a breakout year next year. He is better all around. He catches the ball better, he is faster and can take it to the house, he blocks as well, and runs inside as well. Ive seen the statement that Zac's problems happened when Bjax wasnt in the game. What a crock of Shi. Zac's problems were mainly his own. he held the ball too long, he didnt have a great arm, he was average at best. We all like to think we know things but there is a reason that Cally and Co. hold him in high esteem and as much as i hate to admit it Cally is probably more right than us. We will be fine next year probably better with less of a log jam and the person who needs the ball (lucky) getting it with regularity
