  1. tarheel trojan, that's a pretty sweet post. Thanks for the love. One thing though that SC will always have that NU will probably never have is the local talent base to recruit from. No matter how good we are we will always hav et oconvince kids to COME TO Nebraska and not to stay here. This makes it that much more difficult for us to get back to the top, when we slide off. We are also located in Lincoln, Nebraska. A great place to live and raise a family, but a tough place to recruit some 17 year old athlete to. So I think, it's going to be a tougher road to hoe to get back to the top for NU than it was for SC. I mean the talent for the most part has always been there at SC, even before Carroll. Ever heard of a QB named Palmer? That's quite a bit better starting block than Dailey. That's just one example of many. have fun if you come to the game this year. Good luck finding tickets.
  2. From my time spent in MN, Big 11 country, there is a lot of Big 11 uppity-ness. Big 11 country thinks, without question, that the big 11 is by far the best conference in the country. And there is a definite media bias towards that conference for whatever reason. Personally I think it is because that conference probably has the biggest markets. Look at the popualtions of the states that big 11 teams are in. Every state has a lot of population. Over 55% of the NATION'S population is within a day's drive (600 mi.) of Columbus, Ohio. As a result, I think the media covers it more extensively because that conference matters to the most people. Look at the states where the Big 12 is located, not nearly as big of a market. Makes sense to me, so that's the argument I'm sticking with! I do not think that there is any doubt that the Big 12 is #2 best conference right now, but usually #3 behind the SEC and ACC. I think year in year out, you have SEC, ACC, Big 12, and then Big and Pac 10 conferences battling it out for the cellar. however, right now I think the Big 12 south is about as good a division in football as you will find. Bethel, you named 5 teams that nobody would probably want on their schedule. The Big 12 is always pooped on by the media all year long, and come bowl season, the Big 12 usually does pretty good.
  3. huskerfan500, you need to check yo' self befo' you wreck yo' self. John does not yet have an offer. He'll likely be one who gets a D-1A offer, I suppose it'll come from the likes of a Wyoming, CSU, KSU type place. It is possible he earns one from NU, but he's going to have to show the coaches something at the NU summer camp.
  4. Washington is listed at 6-3 210. I have to wonder if maybe he's not linebacker material. This all depends, I suppose, on how his frame is. What kind of a bone structure has he got. In some interviews he's given he talks about how he'll play wherever the coaches want him. has anybody heard anything?
  5. is making Sean Fisher a tight end a possibility or out of the question entirely? jeez, I just talk about this kid like we've already got him.
  6. it was only 67 degrees and sunny that day. Some pussies just won't go out unless it's in the 80s. I was pretty disappointed.
  7. Grixby Slauson any one of the following: McKeon Brandenburg Ganz Phillips
  8. he really seemed like a genuinely nice kid. I was really impressed with him.
  9. Rivals is now reporting that Sean's 40 time is 4.6 Recall the 4.88 time he ran was electronic but was run almost a year ago. Without question I would think he's faster than that now, but to take off 0.3 seconds off your 40 time in a year seems like a lot to me. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that he runs in the 4.6s, but a 4.6 flat seems like a stretch to me. I dunno. We'll see.
  10. Some of my friends and I were sitting out on the patio there (for anybody else who was there, was that harley davidson annoying the hell out of you too?) and I noticed this kid with his family wearing a Mullen HS T shirt and it looked a lot like his pictures on Rivals. He wasn't more than 20 ft from me so I hollered out at him. He came over and I asked him if he was coming here or what. He said if he gets an offer he's "N." I laughed and asked him if he was going to get one. He politely answered that they have all of their OLineman spots for this year taken, but there's one who might not make it due to academics (he was referring to Aaron Schulte last year's greyshirt) and if he doesn't make it then he is someone they are certainly looking at. He said he liked the honesty of the staff with regards to that. Then I asked him if he was really 6-3. Because sometimes Rivals and scout can get their measurables inflated, you know what I mean, some kids listed at 6-5 300 but he's really 6-3 270. It happens. So I asked him if he was really 6-3. he said yes. Then I said "enjoy your time here bud. Hope to see you in red someday." So there you have it. My "interview" with Jimmy Miller.
  11. Bayside Heritage Hills Cross Creek Wild Horse Has anyone played any of these courses? What did y'all think?
  12. what do you all think our players will be rated on EA SPORTS' NCAA Football 2007 my guesses: Keller: 85 Ganz: 78 Lucky: 84 Mo P: 90 T Nunn: 85 Our best TE: 60 Justin Makovicka: 99
  13. Does anybody know anything about this kid. All I know is that he looked pretty good in last year's State Championship game against Westside. I also know he looked pretty small and extremely shifty. Just wondering if anybody knew anything like his height/weight/bench/40time/etc Also is he D-1A material? Any information would be appreciated. I'll hang up and listen.
  14. I agree with the Petito and Callahan thing, but it's weird, because isn't Petito from Chicago as well?
  15. There is nothing on this earth that will keep me from going to the spring game.
  16. There is video on Rivals out on John Levorson. He is from Crete and he is actually pretty athletic. I've got a little Omaha bias and didn't really consider him for top 10 status. but i think after seeing this, he's in without question. He reminds me a lot of a Zane Abner type. He can throw the rock pretty well, but not with real great technique. He's definitely a D-1 athlete, but just not perhaps at NU. I think he'll get offers from the likes of CSU, Wyoming, Ohio, K-State, etc though. he's someone to watch this upcoming year. It's tough to peg him a position for college though. I don't know how fast he is. I know he's the fastest kid out there on film, but how fast is that? If he's fast enough, he could make a killer safety, he likes to level kids. PS. He's everybit of the 6-3 he's listed at. He looks about 6-5 on film I swear.
  17. I'm told that Spring Ball helps incredibly.
  18. if he was from MIzzou, SD, Iowa, Minnesota, or about any other state in the Midwest, I'd bet on ND. But I seriously think in the end he knows he's a Husker, whether he wants to be or not.
  19. Defense: Tough to pick. I would say Grixby, but I believe he'll be a SP captain, so i go with McKeon over Ruud because McKeon seems to have more verbal presence. Tierre Green is another candidate who's a tremendous teammate I'm told. This is a prediction, not what I would vote for if I was a player, but a prediction. Offense: Tough to pick but for different reasons. T. Nunn. SP: C. Grixby. he's such a great kid. Always working hard, always takes responsibility. Seems to have a real good head on his shoulders. This kid just bleeds charisma.
  20. I tend to over respect opponents. So my predictions aren't because of my lack of belief in my beloved, but because I always view our opponents as "Oh my god, how are we going to stop them?!?!?!?" Nevada: Win, pretty easily. Although, new QB in his first game, we could start slow and thus letting them think that they actually have a shot at winning this could be closer than expected. Especially considering how close they played the U last year. 42-14 Wake Forest: Tough win. The fighting Grobes prove to be tougher than expected. Their ground pound attack will take its toll on our fresh new front 4 and will be very pesky and difficult to stop consistently. however, Sam Keller and Co will torch their secondary and Wake will not have the means to make a comeback with their offensive scheme. 42-28 USC: Loss, pretty easily. Rey Maualuga will reak havoc all over the field for USC and we will be beaten down badly in our own barn. Sam Keller will throw for many yards and many INTs, if given the opportunity. If we game plan similarly to last year then we will obviously not. We will be able to run the ball slightly better than last year on these guys. Asante's pass coverage ability will be exploited this game, as he is much better on blitzing and run stopping than pass coverge (his scouting report). 17-28 Ball State: With all due respect to the Cardinals as they have been improving the last few years and are much better than a typical Ball St team. This game is a joke. A lot - a little Iowa State: I still think they're offense is loaded with talent, especially for an Iowa State team. Good lord, everyone returns that matters. As a Prep grad, that's tough to say with Hicks graduating, but it's probably true. These guys will have better coaching on the offensive side of the ball this year and NU will find out that ISU truly is like a elusive mosquito that just won't go away. ISU makes this close in spite of the fact that the game is in Lincoln. 35-24 Missouri: Loss. Missouri's high powered offense is unstoppable and NU cannot pick up a win yet again in Columbia. This game will be very back and forth and will be the bud for the ensuing NU/MU rivalry in years to come. Because unlike other losses in Columbia, in this one MU will have to pull something out of their butt to beat us. And they will. And we will be not happy at all about it. 31-34 Okie Lite: Loss. Adarius Bowman and Bobby Reid have a breakout year. Okie Lite beats OU as well this year. NU is really pissed that they lost both times to OSU and there starts to be lots of grumblings about the D. 31-42 A&M: Win by the skin of our teeth. Just like last year the Husk will win, but probably shouldn't have. Luckily this will be a game where the friendly confines of Memorial will help our boys to a win. Stephen McGee shows lots of moxy in this game and wins the respect of many of the Husker nation. The defense actually is what will win this game for us. 20-19 (It seems like A&M scores are always goofy) UT: NU wins, barely. NU is pissed about last year and come out with a vengeance. Colt McCoy shows that he has no "Major Applewhite-ness" in him and folds early in the third quarter. NU plays it's best game of the season in Austin. 34-27 Kansas: NU wins by a large margin. After the last two seasons, NU wants to send a message to the Fighting Manginos and does. 49-10 Kansas St: Josh Freeman is by now settled in and become the QB we all thought he would be. But as will be his story for his whole career while at KSU has no help around him and must do it all, which as it turns out is not enough on this day. 38-23 Colorado: The Hawk has his boys playing very well by now and despite a tough start to an early tough nonconference schedule the Buffs are now perhaps the hottest team in the North. Cody Hawkins/Nick Nelson will have a big day and be rewarded for their efforts. CU wins with a last second field goal. 24-27 Final Record: 8-4 (5-3)
  21. word out of lincoln is that the plastic cup almost totalled the car
  22. anyone who gets to see his vids pay attention t othe field. It looks as though its never been watered,,,ever! Everywhere they run, there is a cloud of dust where they just stepped. Its like something out of an old western movie.
  23. It's a press conference! What do you think I'm going to tell you about the team? If you want to get the real details out of me, you've gotta get me liquored up.
