  1. Good lord, is every offensive player going to have a turnover in this game??
  2. Could someone explain to me why the hell Beck calls a drop-back pass on 3rd down on our 2 yardline, knowing full-well Taylor has issues getting sacked back there, and knowing full-well the defense is going to be expecting it?
  3. There was no storm... everything was going in our favor, and then we shot ourselves in the foot several times in a row. Same sh#t, different game.
  4. Sing it with me everyone!! "The wheels on the bus are... falling off, falling off, falling off!"

Okay, praise maybe wrong word. Commend may be more appropriate.. but I agree, looks can be deceiving, but I thought there were some great non-calls.. and that's a pretty good indication I think.
  6. Well kruzer.. i think it's a moot point now, he'll be head-coaching somewhere next year I'm pretty certain.

I imagine this crew had a lot of pressure going into this game after what happened last week. I thought they called a pretty damn good game overall, and I didn't feel any bias either way. I feel like after how much we vented against last weeks crew, we should respond in turn by praising the officiating this week...(edit: well, okay maybe just commending for a job well done) anyone with me?
  8. I'd have to go back and watch.. but i seem to remember the Texas defender giving a little extra shove/taunt before he turned around and threw the bones. At the time, I remember seeing the replay and going.. ah, that's what it was for. But, it was a depressing game.. i could be misremembering
  9. Well, it looked to me like Taylor was making a lot of bad reads. I wonder if Texas' defense was trying to throw him off. Also, remember Zac's first drive was helped along by two big penalties by Texas. Those don't happen, we likely punt on our side of the field rather than kicking a FG. That's all the points zac gave us, the other 7 was Hagg. He did seem to be making the right reads when he ran read option, but the OL also wasn't getting pushed back 2 yards either. The receivers also actually caught a couple of balls for Zac, that probably helped open things up as well. edit: actually, this is a brilliant analysis. http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/47603-how-utsdsu-defended-nebraska/page__view__findpost__p__675353
  10. Sorry Niles, but it looked to me the coaches tried to get you the ball in the first few games.. and you didn't do a whole lot. You missed a couple, lost the ball, and only had a few highlights. Your backup, that Kinnie guy? He's been solid. Your QB trusts him more, and that's on YOU. Now heading into a touch conference stretch, the last thing we need is for you to start letting up on plays, not working hard on your blocks, not nailing your routes, etc.. because you're disappointed in not getting the ball. Keep working hard and you'll get your chances when they come, otherwise you'll find yourself riding the bench. TL;DR, Quit buying into your own hype Niles!
  11. You can run against 7-8 in the box, Bo and Watson would tell you the same. This was 80% a mental issue and 20% existing issues we knew about. Let's not forget, there are really good athletes in FCS. Some don't have the academics, some want an easier road to the NFL, some want to increase their chances of getting playing time/starting early/being the star. This team was a hell of a lot more fired up than we were. We were thinking about how early in the 2nd half they'd get to come out. They were thinking Michigan, Va. Tech. Coaches probably had a lazy game plan, not expecting much resistance. They have been scheming for us all summer i would imagine. That's why these kinds of usets (michiga, va tech, etc.) happen. They get scheduled for easy money/guaranteed win, but there's never a guaranteed win. Thankfully, our defense bailed us out of this one and we weren't ESPN headline news today. This should certainly serve as a wakeup call, and I don't think Bo is going to let them forget it anytime soon. We need our A-game for K-State and Texas. But, this team will have a week and a half of daily reminders from the coaches. By the time K-State rolls around, I very much expect them to be itching to prove themselves in a big way. And, I hope to god we don't need motivation for the Texas game I don't think the sky is falling. This is probably just what we needed after 3 blowouts.
  12. Thanks for that, that was really insightful analysis.
  13. I love this. I'm glad we're getting this crap out of our system against a FCS school, rather than against KSt in a couple weeks. 2 weeks for the players to watch the film of this pitiful first half. I guess that's the silver lining, Bo should have these guys spitting fire coming out against KSt.
  14. 1) Big improvement from LBs. 2) Left tackle to step up, no blown assignments. 3) HANDS! We need to make a statement in this game with 0 fumbles. 4) Martinez to throw a ball away. Needs to recognize when there's no throw/run options and dump it. 5) 3rd-quarter intensity.
  15. Probably because defenses tend to make adjustments at half-time. Coming out and doing the same thing you did the first half, usually isn't a great recipe for success. Had Paul picked up some good yards rather than fumbling, it would have kept the defense guessing what was coming next. Since he DID fumble it, they probably expected us to go back to what was working and.. had this been a better team, may very well have been able to exploit that a lot better. Niles Paul needs to get his sh#t together. This is his senior year and has been hyped year after year with mediocre results. If he can't get it together soon, he may find himself riding the bench. The first game jitters are understandable.. but if you don't get that fixed between game 1 and 2, there are big concerns. The problem is he probably looks like a world beater most days of practice, but then he tries to be the star during gameday instead of just doing what he needs to.
  16. I vote t-magic, but not until he does something in a big game. Until then.. can we call him Taylor Martinez?
