  1. Man, that was exactly what I was attempting not to do. I just feel that as a pseudo-captain...this may figure into our entire team's problems.
  2. How to approach this? With all the talk of Sam Keller and Corey McKeon's late night comments, I went back and did some digging. During the pre-season, I used all my sophisticated research channels to learn more about Sam Keller (espn, google, yahoo, hearsay, etc.). I wanted some damn video...to no avail. I read about the notorious meeting regarding the Arizona State QB controversy many times, always believing that he would take us to the promise-land. I figured that all the negative comments by the ASU players, coaches, and fans were made in haste. I always told myself that he's a young, college-aged kid...I'll give him some leeway, regarding his "extra-curricular "activities. After the alleged comments by Sam concerning TO and Nebraska fans, this article seems quite relevant. I still truly admire Keller and his drive and I certainly do not question why he came to Nebraska (why wouldn't they all? )...but I'm starting to wonder if his transfer here wasn't indicative of a bigger problem. I know that Sam Keller (our QB play) is certainly not the only problem at NU. If nothing else, this is good discussion material. Please read this article...and be SURE to read the comments on the article...in hindsight, rather interesting. http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/08/27/...tails-revealed/
  3. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "Yowza." I don't really know what I think of Shatel...but the gloves are certainly now off with the media.
  4. I agree with that wholeheartly. Should've started Ganz and forgot about keller. I mean keller had to sit out an entire season for the transfer. Since keller can't scramble we are screwed if he doesn't get rid of the ball. Ganz should've been the starter from game 1 period. Not trying to flame...but hindsight is 20/20. I can't really say that Ganz would do a better job...hence the hindsight adage.
  5. If we go 4-8, this will be the worst Nebraska football team ever. I would say it is very possible. See my "avatar."
  6. Agreed, Ebyl. The one thing that I noticed, though (as an interesting side-POI) -- look how Iowa State somewhat had our number for TO's early years.
  7. Dude, you're right. There were many people that didn't want Tom Osborne, I'm guessing those critics were pretty much silenced after his first two years (besides him not being able to win the "big one", but that's neither here nor there). Go back and look at my post...actually I'll just give you the link again, these are the NU season records...starting when TO took over (1972-73 season): http://www.huskers.com/SportSelect.dbml?SP...p;Q_SEASON=1972 Now go from there. Even better, compare the first 4 seasons under TO (1973-77) to BC's (2004-present). If you can't see the difference between TO and BC...please stop.
  8. Go back and look at the schedule/results of his Husker teams after Tom took over in 1973. Here's the link to the Husker schedule/results for 1972, you can go from there: http://www.huskers.com/SportSelect.dbml?SP...p;Q_SEASON=1972 Granted, we can all say that he took over when the program was rolling and had good recruits. That may be somewhat true. It may have taken Tom 21 years to win a National Championship...but he also didn't take the program and run it into the ground in 4. Tom Osborne is simply handling this in a reasonable and respectable manner. If he were to fire Callahan now, not only would there be a player-revolt (with a few of them, I'm guessing) but our recruiting would be COMPLETELY shot for the year. I believe Callahan is gone after this season. I certainly hope so. If not, then I'll be second-guessing Tom Osborne...and I don't think I'm in any place to do so.
  9. I can't vouch for Sam, but I will say that Corey McKeon is somewhat notorious around town. I am not going to go into specifics, suffice to say that the dude walks around with his polo-shirt's collar "popped." I have two friends that work in downtown bars/restaurants that have told me stories of how he demands free drinks, instant service for he and his "entourage." Football players around Lincoln haven't always been known to be the most cordial or humble characters. However, at least the players before Corey could play. I don't want to get into name-calling, but Corey McKeon is about the last person that should exert himself as a tough-guy. If he wanted to start a fight with me, all I'd have to do is grab a football, run right at him, and it's game over. I'm sure he'd be about 20 yards away from me when it was all over, scratching his head.
  10. I'm about two steps from advocating the rampant use of steroids by our players. Not really. But, seriously? I do agree...we need to figure out a way to separate ourselves again (like the strength and conditioning did in the 80's and 90's). I don't really know if that is possible...but we need something, we need the intangibles - something that a mere weight-room can not provide.
  11. Man, though. If Callahan's monetary status is in question...you just scared the piss out of me considering mine (relatively).
  12. Jack Nicholson is now in our conversation? Dude, Jack Nicholson? Yeah I really feel for Callahan, being that his financial-situation must be tight.
  13. Supposedly Callahan relinquished that power. This is just a rumor, but supposedly Callahan was calling the plays post-halftime -- 0 points scored post-halftime. All I can say is this: Our coaches are to blame. I'm sorry, but our players are to blame as well. There is ABSOLUTELY no viable excuse for what we (Nebraska fans) and others around the football world have witnessed from Nebraska football. Period. The defending of our player's poor play needs to stop. They're big boys. This isn't like criticizing a pee-wee football team's players. Most of them have their college paid for (not I, I'm paying ~$300 a month in student loans from UNL). I still had PLENTY of time to waste, or in the Nebraska Football team's players case...practice and get better. They are here to play football...plain and simple. Either way, even the most objective observer can see that there is a problem with both our coaching and players. Whether our player's performances can be attributed to coaching...we may never know. The one thing I do know: The recent performance of Nebraska football is unacceptable. I think it is time for me to stop living vicariously through Nebraska football. But after all, regardless of the Webster's definition of a fan, isn't that exactly what a "fan" is? What to do...what to do?
  14. Yep. That must be the problem. All of our eerily similar performances prior to this game were Watson's fault.
  15. I also heard him say what amounted to "We would have won if we had scored more points." Id be a millionaire if I had won the lottery. "I could do a lot of things if I had some money." - Homer Simpson
  16. Anyone know if there is any post-game conference going on? My KETV.com link crapped out on me...or there just isn't anything happening? Anyone? Bueller? Huskers.com Is it free video?? I'm not a registered, paying member to Huskers.com. ??

  18. I'm so sorry to say this...and I hate to be a hater or pessimist. I really do...I love Nebraska football. But, if I hear one more statement of, "we've just got to pick ourselves up...and go back to work for next week"...I'm going to vomit. Which means...if i keep watching this press conference...I am going to be projectile -vomiting all over my house. I've heard that, "we just got to get better, get focused, and get back to work for next week" too many times after our ridiculous losses. Perhaps if they ever did "get back to work, get better, and work on next week" I'd be satisfied. I'm starting to wonder what, exactly, they do in practice...and reviewing game film. Are they just running around the locker room, slapping each other on the asses and playing patty-cake? Or is this really just a case of bad coaching? Sorry for my
  19. "1. Callahan is gone. When? I don't know. I hope he resigns. Dr. Tom says the season will end before changes are made, but holy sh#t, what can we possibly lose at this point? Buy him out, kick him out, bury him in a hole in the f*cking desert. Just get him out." Yowza.
  20. Remember that our defense isn't the best at determining what offense works and what doesn't. I think that a good High School football team would test them right now.
  21. http://www.ketv.com/video/14251684/index.html Here ya go. If the link doesn't work...just go to KETV.com and there is a "Live Press Conference" icon to click.
  22. 4-8 Wow, never thought I'd see that record as a very possible outcome.
  23. Tell them the score...but switch the teams around. Or you could just tell him the truth...we stink. We stink bad.
