  1. Gabbert may get picked off, and may not put up great stats.. but the reason he can throw across his body and off his back foot is the same reason Favre is able to in the NFL. Now let me continue, Gabbert is not NFL ready yet.. geez not even close!... But his arm is in the conversation! The throws he makes are unreal, Daniel never would dream of making some of these throws... I know a strong arm does not necessarily make you a NFL QB... but it gives you a better chance than most! Good Luck to the Huskers.. much respect for your program..
  2. Don't know about confidence in the line.. but I will take the 1.5 points and lay some CASH.. Go Tigers!
  3. 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 Because every top 10 defense he has coached in the last decade hasn't proven otherwise already? Say what you want about his head coaching acumen, but for the love of God even Hellen Keller could tell this guy knows how to coach a friggin defense. Told ya This is like seeing someone say, "The sun rises in the west," then telling that person, "They're going to tell you you're wrong." Seriously. "Told ya?" When captain obvious has proof on his side? Come on. Don't reach so much. Well you have to admit he is right, MU has squashed Nebraska the last two years, the games were not competitive, it was like .. watching Nebraska mop up a Bob Stull coached Missouri team in the late eighties! So you have to understand, until Nebraska proves it on the football field they are as good as Missouri, the VERY late history suggests they are not.... I think any reasonable football person would agree... Pellini has to prove himself .. and he very well may Thursday. But as of now, you have to give credit to MU.. they have been the better program as of late.
  4. No, the research is not "exhausting." It takes about five minutes on the NCAA stat site. You should try it sometime. Bo "NEEDS" this win like you "needed" to beat KU last year. Your road through the Big XII is fraught with disaster, while ours is looking easier and easier by the minute. We need to beat you OR Kansas and we win the North, that's how I see it. The North winner does not need to go undefeated in conference play. I doubt Kansas, Missouri or Nebraska does. Looking at the schedules of us three, I give the easier road to Nebraska. Either we learned something from VT or we didn't. If we did, MU goes down. If we didn't, MU has a chance. If you beat us you still may not win the North, a la KU in 2008. I have to say, though - there is a certain evil little part of me that would love watching Missouri on a national stage in the Big XII Championship game having their tails handed to them by the South winner. Again. Because you guys will NOT be competitive against whomever emerges as the South champ. One item that needs to be mentioned, is Oklahoma State really that big of a road bump? Is it unwinnable? I mean geez OSU lost to Houston! Who lost to UTEP! Much to be decided when it comes to schedule...
  5. A loss will not be disasterous, he needs another recruiting class or 2 to work with. Until we can win one of these big games on the road, can we truley say NU is back. It is kind of interesting to think that Nebraska needs to beat Missouri to show their program is on track. This statement says alot about how far Missouri's program has evolved. I know Nebraska likes to "beat" up on Missouri's past history, and rightfully so, Lord knows I witnessed a big part of our mediocrity and in many years futility. This game is going to be exciting, I expect "this" one to be close, I was at the game in 2005 and witnessed history on MU's part, this one I will be at home in South Carolina... enjoying the game in prime time.. Good Luck to the Huskers.. This is one Tiger fan glad to see Nebraska getting back on track.. just makes things right when Nebraska is solid as a football program.
  6. One question I have for Missouri fans is "do you think that the score from last year carries over to this year?" Last I checked the game still starts at 0-0. Not the intent of the question, the question is not a direct question about the score, but about the talent gap that certainly existed last season. The question is meant to ask how has Nebraska closed the talent gap against Missouri over the past year to illicit such a sincere belief that NU will dominate MU in Columbia. Not a question about the points directly. Hope that makes it more clear and promotes debate and conversation.
  7. You would be very much alone in this belief. Understandable, but I think if we had a debate on the qualities of either the big 10 or the ACC we would agree both conferences are much weaker than the big 12. I think the lack of offensive imagination displayed by VATech over the past 10 years makes them a very average team nationally, although very prominent in a weak conference. JMHO
  8. Defense. No. Did you lead your debate team?.. quite impressive..lol Since playing in Columbia doesn't matter, can you explain the troubles Nebraska has had playing there not winning in last three visits? Not winning in Columbia since 2001?
  9. No. Illinois is a weak team playing in one of the weakest conferences. You're basically saying that the Colorado vs. Colorado St. game was a "big game" because it's a rivalry. It's not a big game to anyone but Buffs and Rams fans. Same goes for MU/ILL - nobody cares about this game but your two schools. Just because it's the "biggest" game on your non-con schedule doesn't mean it's a "big game." I do not disagree, no one cares about the MU/Ill game but our two schools. That means it is a "big game" for MU and Ill. Your opinion on the game is not a viable point for discussion. And as far as Virginia Tech, I don't think they are much better than the Illini. The ACC is weaker than the Big 10 top to bottom. JMHO
  10. One game you have forgotten is a rivalry game at a neutral site with 65K. Big Game for both schools.. add that to a Missouri Resume and I think the schedules for both teams are pretty equal. And let's not kid ourselves... none of that will matter when they tee it up on October 8th. You are right that non of that will matter come October 8th. No previous games predict how ANY given game will play out. See every upset that has taken place this year. As far as a rivalry game and "equal" schedules. You cannot honestly tell me that you think Illinois (A team that finished 5-7 last year and is looking even worse this year) would even come close to holding its own against Virginia Tech (Which won 10 games last year, yet again). I'm not saying that the Mizzou win was NOT convincing, because it was, but... the schedules are hardly even. Take out Mizzou's game with Illinois and Nebraska's game with VT and the schedules are looking pretty even (both cupcakes scheduling ) Don't get me wrong though, I don't think that either "big games" (in actuality, both meant nothing to either of these programs) will influence October 8th. That game will be won by whichever team shows up and executes the best. Here's to hoping for a great game. I certainly understand your position. I live in ACC/SEC country and watch WAY too much ACC football. It may be the most mediocre football that is played in the country. That may skew my view of the Virginia Tech program as I am not impressed with the football Virgnia Tech plays. I really do not think there is much difference between the talent of Illinois and Virginia Tech. So that is probably why I view the schedules as equal. When you are subjected to watching so much ACC football it makes you sick. All the hype for these programs in the ACC the last couple of years and none of the programs would finish in the top half of the Big 12. That may help explain my view..
  11. Can I just say that this board has some of the best insight from Missouri fans that I have seen in sometime....I really appreciate the opportunity to get a rational look into the psyche of this opposing fan base. So thank you to the Mizzou fans posting here! That said..... While VT's run defense has been "maligned" this year, I think that their abnormal numbers are the result of an incredibly strong rushing attack from `Bama and an underrated attack from NU. I see NU controlling the clock, stuffing the Mizzou attack with greatly improved defensive speed, NU winning the game by 14, Gabbert playing admirably, and fans of both teams walking away thinking they will DEFINITELY win next year! Helu - 130 yards Defense - 2 picks of Gabbert Outcome - NU 38-24 One question I have for Nebraska fans is this: MU had its way with Nebraska in Lincoln last season with a 6 touchdown differential for a Tiger victory. MU lost some talent, but so did Nebraska. The excitement around Nebraska football is welcomed, as it was a shame what Callahan did to your great program in just three short years. How do you think Nebraska has closed a 6 touchdown deficit in just one year, and do you think playing in Columbia gives the Tigers a boost heading into this early showdown on October 8th?
  12. Fro, one question. In the little I've seen of the Tigers (I plan on catching tonight's game) I've been really impressed with the way Gabbert has stepped in. But it seems as if the offense is missing some kind of spark - they don't seem quite as explosive as last year. A very good offense, but not quite what was there at this time last year (and I'm not going off scores so much as it just seemed that Missouri was scoring so much and so effortlessly last year). I know it's early, and like NU Missouri is having to replace some key players, but is that the impression of the fan base as well? And if so, any thoughts on why or what's missing? Not to jump in a speak for Fro.. but I think those are some good observations. Young Quarterback which makes the offense a little inconsistent. And no one has stepped into Chase Coffman's role for those 10-15 yard routes. Perry and Alexander have been fine, but the tight end outlet that Daniel had has not emerged. Therefore not converting as many third down opportunities. Defensively MU MUCH improved.. simpler scheme, just trying to be athletic and make plays. I think a very similiar change to what Pellini did with the Blackshirts, letting them make plays and not become a "slow" defense by trying to "read" plays instead of "react". Nebraska - MU will be a great game. A great environment for the Big 12, and a great showcase of a rivalry that is budding in the midwest.
  13. One game you have forgotten is a rivalry game at a neutral site with 65K. Big Game for both schools.. add that to a Missouri Resume and I think the schedules for both teams are pretty equal. And let's not kid ourselves... none of that will matter when they tee it up on October 8th.
  14. What is funniest about this is at this point Nebraska would love to be the "Dog's Ass"..
  15. Missouri Fans tried to explain that time of possession is not relevant when it comes to this years squad at MU. Missouri scores in seconds...not minutes. Time of possession is almost useless as a stat to be concerned with.. and to ease your worry... Not one team has had success running the football against MU's front seven.. That is why all teams pass.. since the Illinois game MU has changed pass coverage.. running more cover 2 and zone to make teams drive the field.... It is what it is.... Missouri 55 Okla State ... 24 early prediction
  16. And lastly.. your comments about Brown are assinine... Brown played hard and brought hard hits, personal fouls happen at times.. just like when the NU player had a PF against Daniel on Sat for helmet to helmet. Pig Brown had 1 personal foul last year... Shows how uneducated you are on MU football...not your fault...you have to follow... the ..gulp.. cyclones
  17. Hey Cyclone guy... You can bring all the Iowa State defense you want.. in fact play 22 players on defense and your team won't stop MU. Bring all you want my friend and let's set one thing straight..... You won't have a chance to blow a 20 point lead against MU... you will be down 21 before the horn ends the first period and there won't be a a fake flag to win the game for you this year... Geez.. I have heard it all ... Iowa State guy talking smack
  18. The only thing you need to call for Chase Daniel is a trophy case... And Nebraska.... congratulations.. you just helped the campaign for the North trophy (again) and a chance at the Heisman.... Many of you Nebraska fans are great representatives for your school.. then you have goof-balls like this who can't appreciate talent... Maybe NU was dirty..maybe they have bad characters on the team.. things we never see on TV.... Hell MU had bad characters and players in the eighties .... I saw it first hand, don't be such a homer.
  19. Captain.. I couldn't disagree with you more. Daniel, obviously upset by the spitting incident, took it public. Pellini needs to address this, Daniel would have no reason to make this up, you don't want these type of athletes representing your program. It may be that Pellini uses this to clean up some renegades still left over from Callahan.. Daniel is a great competitor and a great leader, he has never made any accusations of any other team in his three years as a starter.. maybe NU needs to clean up.. just my thoughts. and daniel needs to shut his mouth. dirtiest team he's played?? please. it was a physical game. if anyone was "dirty" it wasnt NU. that comment was a joke. I'm sure he was upset about the spitting incident, but his comments were just as uncalled for. i'd say both sides need to clean it up Daniel has never made a comment of this ilk in three years as a starter. I tend to believe him... so you say he needs to shut his mouth? NU wasn't dirty? I don't know.. MU was dirty? I don't know I wasn't under any piles on the field and neither were you.
  20. Captain.. I couldn't disagree with you more. Daniel, obviously upset by the spitting incident, took it public. 21. I agree, all coaches have that goal.. I doubt MU cared much about those comments... Just like NU shouldn't have worried about Daniel's comments about last year's defense being like a High School defense ... They Were.. facts are facts.. I doubt there is a NU fan anywhere who would disagree with the lack of defense shown by NU last season.. and I doubt any MU fan would disagree that coaches gameplan to "shutout" opponents.. it is what it is
  22. You people are ridiculously gay...
  23. I'm scratching my head over that. He doesn't present himself as an intelligent person. He just sounds like he's reciting talking points that were drilled into his head. He speaks in bullet points and hyperbole. He's a cocky sonofabitch, though, so maybe that's all it takes in business. What a bunch of Haters. If Daniel had a red N on his helmet instead of a gold M he would be the greatest player of all time. What a bunch of BS... Ok you don't like him because he is a great QB on a team that has taken control of the North. He is a winner, he has brought great leadership to the Tigers who the Huskers used to pound now you are on the other end. I am not one to talk.. but I get tired of the bashing of Daniel by Husker fans for no reason... Cocky no... Confident.. yes.. and for good reason. Good Luck to the Huskers
  24. Not to try to downplay your post.. well thought out..but in all fairness, Missouri quit trying to score at 52-10...... The entire fourth quarter we basically ran a read draw to the halfback.... MU could have put up 600+ yards and 70 points... Just as Nebraska could have done the same to MU in years past.... Good Luck to the Huskers........ Kill KU!
  25. Football fan bases are a microcosm of society, nice people and not so nice people. Football trips are fun and more enjoyable if we would all realize this is just a football game. My mother gave me great advice growing up in small town Missouri and I have tried to always live by this small rule, ESPECIALLY when traveling to sporting events. In fact the rule is pretty simple as it is the golden rule... "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" if we all acted accordingly, we wouldn't have to read these stories of poor fan behavior. If those of us who are big fans of our teams stop the stupid behavior when we see it among our own, maybe these stories will subside. Good Luck to the Huskers
