  1. Yeah, 29 more years and you'll good to go!
  2. You have to think about this for a second. For most of these bowl games, people treat them like mini vacations. Would you rather go someplace where it is in the 70s or 80s, sunny, and pleasant weather, or would you rather go to a place that is in the 20s or 30s, cold, windy, and possibly snowing? Hmmm, it's a tough one, but I think I know which one I would pick.
  3. That's what I would like to see! But it won't be happening anytime soon. So until then, I have to suffer through Ohio State getting their asses handed to them in the title game.
  4. Oh boy, so we might get to see Ohio State lose in the championship game for the third year in a row. WOOOOOOOO! Actually, I hope this happens. And I hope whoever faces Ohio State wins by at least 3 TDs. I also hope that USC - even though I hate them - just dominates lil ole Ohio State. That way, a more deserving team can be put in the final game of the season. And just for the record, LSU & Ohio State should NOT have been in the 2007 Championship game. I do want a playoff system, but not the one that is used in the NFL or other divisions of college sports. I think those are lame and make the regular season meaningless. You can lose game after game, but as long as you are at least a .500 team, you can make it to the playoffs. That's crap. I don't want a bunch of average teams playing against each other. I would rather have a handful of teams that have been consistent and proven themselves throughout the season. Here is my playoff idea: Playoff Proposal
  5. I originally wanted Grobe, but looking back at it, I feel Osbourne made the right decision. Nebraska needed defensive help. Pelini is one of the - if not the best - defensive minds in college football today. If anyone can get an almost dead last defense on track, it's him. Getting a "proven" coach doesn't mean anything. Some individuals do not fit into certain cultures, and as we have seen, this can be disastrous. I think fitting into a culture is one of the most important criteria while searching through job applicants. If they don't fit in with the culture, it doesn't matter how "proven" they are, it's not going to work. I think Osbourne noted (and learned) that bringing in an outsider is very risky, unless both sides' expectations align perfectly. He didn't want to have another Callahan Error (Era), so he went with someone whose personality and character meshed with the Nebraska culture. And to say hiring Pelini is not a "step forward" is hypocritical. These same people are saying he is unproven, but then they go and say that hiring him wasn't a step forward? How do they know? He's unproven...remember!?
  6. I have already stated why I dislike Ohio State. They are an over-rated team playing in a fluffy conference.
  7. I can blame them. I thought for sure the first game would be on TV considering the amount of interest in the "new" Huskers. And why pick Baylor over NU? Using your logic: Baylor actually IS a cupcake against a cupcake team AND is a losing program. The only people interested in that game would be...well, I would say Baylor fans, but probably not really. Maybe Washington State fans?
  8. Okay, not sure what your point is.... Actually, now that I think about it, I would rather see something else happen. I think it would be great for Ohio State to make it to the championship game for the third year in a row, and lose. Well, of course they would lose, that's what Ohio State does in the championship game. That would complete their trifecta, and I'm thinking after that, many people would think twice before putting "The Ohio State" in the The Championship game. Ahhhh...let's hope it happens! Get those weak conference winning, no conference championship game punks out of there!
  9. Articles are subjective, not objective. Therefore, they cannot be used as "evidence" to prove that Nebraska has talent. They may have talent, but I definitely haven't seen it the last few years. Physical!?!? You think our players are more physical now? You did watch the same games as I did last year, didn't you? If I was to describe last season's efforts with one word, "physical" would DEFINITELY be on the bottom of the list.
  10. Bummer...no NU games for us. We will have to wait for VT to see them on the TV (unless PPV picks up one of their games). Networks Pass on First Three Husker Games
  11. Nope, he was fired because Pederson didn't want Nebraska to slip into mediocrity. In all fairness to him, we didn't; we fell much further. Listen all this talk about stars, ratings, and where your final class recruiting ranks among the nation is fun and all, but the only thing that matters is if you get players that fit your system. Or, you get players that are close to what you are looking for, and mold them to be players that fit your system. If they can play well within the system and what is trying to be accomplished, the team will be successful...no matter how many 5-star and/or 4-star recruits you have.
  12. From what I have been reading, it appears Mr. Dobson has been working some miracles in increasing the strength, agility, and speed of each NU player. Each player has a different workout routine based on their needs. Many players have dropped weight and gained speed. I feel our ends definitely needed this speed last season as they looked rather sluggish getting off the line.
  13. Ohio State good? Yeah, in their weak division maybe. Oh, they are also good at making it to the Championship game and losing. How Ohio State is being ranked in the Top 10 to start this season after consistently choking is beyond me. I can't wait for them to play USC. Final score: USC = 263; Ohio State = 14. I'm hoping this game keeps them out of the Championship Game, but who knows? Everyone seems to have a stiffy for Ohio State...
  14. I agree with some previous posters: the thread subject was highly misleading. I was under the impression that when I clicked it, I would be reading about his comments on the Nebraska situation, but that was definitely not the case. The summary was........weird. The little pieces of the actual article that did mention Nebraska, were not even mentioned in the summary. I don't really care what he is doing in New York, how detailed he is, or that he listens to classical music. I don't know, I just thought it was kind of an awkward summary I guess. And the actual article was a disappointment too. Just my two cents though...
  15. Yeah, I think it should be a good game in Lincoln. I have nothing against Kansas, well, maybe I do. But this is only because of last season's results. All I heard all season was how "awesome" they were. I don't mind Kansas doing good, but they had a simple schedule. I don't think it was because they oozed talent or that they were coached well, it was because they had a favorable schedule with average talent. You put that same exact team in this year's schedule, and there is no way they go 12-1. That being said, this "cake" schedule happens in cycles. Some years are going to be tougher than others. I think Nebraska has a little more favorable schedule this season (a very good thing, we will need all the help we can get). We are at home for the first five games. This includes Virginia Tech and Missouri, which I am hoping we can win one of those two games (I think VT would help morale the most, which could carry-on to the Mizzou game). We also have you folks (Kansas) and Colorado at home. I would say that NU would have a 25% shot at winning if we were not at home. I think being in Lincoln will increase our chances to about 35%. If our defense is average, or a little above average (which will be a HUGE improvement from last season), our chances increase to about 75%. Defense wins games. I am anxious to watch though. Should be a good game! But for how long? His weight should be a concern for Jayhawk fans, especially considering how stressful coaching is. And I'm not saying this to be funny or sarcastic either, but if he doesn't lose weight, he's not going to last very long.
  16. (paraphrased) "No, 'cause most of the time it's brought up by other people, and if people want my opinion on something, I'm gonna tell them. I know I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for Frank Solich. For the opportunity he gave me to get back into college football, and uh...so if people don't like that, tough."
  17. I think the way he was fired was bad. 9-3 season isn't good enough? I think that's a very decent record, and I do believe he started trying to change things when they weren't working (i.e., going to more of a spread option, hiring Pelini to take over defense...just to name a few) unlike certain other coaches. But I would definitely say no, we should not have fired him. Steve seemed to have no game plan on what type of coach he was looking for, and out of desperation he settled on Callahan. The whole process was a complete joke, and was handled horribly by Steve. Bad, bad, BAD!
  18. Well, keep in mind that the best Callahan could do with the "talent" he inherited was losing in the Big 12 Championship by two touchdowns. The rest of his seasons were either average, or losing seasons. What does this tell me? It tells me that the way in which "talent" is measured is a joke. NU needs to find individuals who will fit in with what the coaches are specifically trying to do on offense and defense. If this means that they are 4 or 5 star recruits that's fine. If it means going after 2 or 3 star recruits, that's fine too. What am I trying to say? I feel that getting that "fit" into the system is far more important than how many stars some website arbitrarily assigns to each player or how many players go pro.
  19. I wouldn't be opposed to an extended season! Play the 11 other teams in the conference and then maybe 3 non-conference...hell yeah! Never going to happen, but that would be grand...
  20. The d-line just got blown off the LOS almost every snap. You can especially see this against USC where the d-line either got pancaked, or they were about 5 or so yards away from the LOS. It was awful!
