  1. So, can you explain why the Big 10 was interested in adding Nebraska when it's all about "TV markets?!?" OU is just as big a TV draw as Texas everywhere outside of Texas. And even Texas fans will watch OU play, in hopes of watching them lose. To suggest Texas is the only team the Pac 10 was interested in is a bit naive.
  2. "Count me in as one that would luv to hammer UT twice. The OU administration and even some fans clearly don't see the NU/OU rivalry like we Huskers do. Obviously OU fans want their team in the title game, but they could give a hoot which North team they face." You are probably hanging around the wrong Sooner fans! Most of us see the OU/NU rivalry with the same adoration and intensity as you do/did. It was a terrible loss to not continue the rivalry every year but it was for the best of the new conference at the time. I would live to see the Big Reds meet in the CCG for a trip to play for all the marbles, just like old times! Boomer Sooner!!
  3. I guess I am one of those Sooner fans that sees this situation completely different. It is an extreme injustice to the league that Texas had/has so much influence on the direction of the conference and I understand completely why Nebraska bolted for the Big 10. It just so happens that Texas and Oklahoma have unified reasons for keeping the remaining Big XII schools together. Everyone knows OU had the very same options that Texas had. So, I don't see OU being Texas' bitch, although I can see why an uninformed observer could come to that conclusion. Castiglione and Boren sat back and let Texas drive, not because OU was dependent upon Texas but because Texas had to flip flop around until they determined what they thought would be best. Castiglione and Boren knew that OU wasn't going to be staying in the Big XII if Texas decided to leave but that wasn't necessarily going to drive OU to follow Texas. If Texas decided to join A$M in the SEC, OU could have taken OSU and joined the Pac 10 and been just as happy. Personally, that is what I would have preferred to see but Texas would have never allowed OU to join the better "academic" conference! ;-) Regardless, this Sooner fan is sad to see Nebraska leave but I do understand completely! Good luck guys!
  4. As an OU fan that game was difficult to watch. I was thrilled to see the Sooner defense dominate but watching the Sooner offense crumble was numbing! I am glad Nebraska is working themselves back into a National Contender but you know the Husker offense has a long ways to go! Keep improving and I will hope my Sooners will get back on track next year so that maybe we can meet again for the "Big 8" championship next year! ;-) Take care and, Boomer Sooner!!
  5. Two things to NEVER do: NEVER boo your own players (which goes for booing the coaches too. If you boo them it could be confused as booing the players.) Standing in silence can be a much more classy and just as effective manner of showing your disgust with the product on the field. NEVER stop going to the game!! This does send the message you want the coaches and administration to receive but this isn't how you want them to receive it! Have fun at the tailgate, paint your faces, get your cob heads on and be there for the team! Trust me, when you are at Nebraska, the bottom line isn't how much $$ you bring in, it's how much $ you bring in and how much you win! So, by boycotting the game you will affect the $ aspect a little but, the losses will hurt much worse! Just take a look around at what is being said about Nebraska and you can see how much more pain that loss causes versus losing 5-10K from the game. One final thought, deciding to not attend games doesn't make you a fair-weathered fan. It is a way to object to the product on the field and it might expedite the change in head coach. Or, it might not, but it's still up to the individual to determine the plan that they think is best! Just my opinion, doesn't make it right. Boomer Sooner!!
  6. We thought it was bad going 6-6 with Gibbs. Then, we believed the rhetoric of an old drunk, had high expectations and climbed the polls only to be exposed and ultimately firing another coach in Schnelly. Then, we wanted a homegrown guy, one with potential, a nice guy but one with great pride. The only thing we forgot was he needed to know how to be a head coach... thus we go 3-8, 4-7, and 5-6 before we finally get it right. When I say it could get worse before it gets better, I just mean good decisions have to be made to avoid making Callahan your Schnelly with still your Blake to go. You get my drift? I love Blake and think he makes a great asistant coach and maybe he will be a good head coach someday, he just wasn't prepared for the OU job. The Nebraska AD has to make sure the next hire isn't just a hire based upon emotion, thinking "How could it get worse?" Boomer Sooner!!
  7. I will do my best Gundy impersonation... THAT AIN'T TRUE! I would refuse to believe that Nebraska couldn't compete with anyone in the country for a player! As long as Nebraska hasn't fallen too far behind in facilities, with the right coach, Nebraska will compete with ANYONE in the country when it comes to recruits! I know I was skeptical of the same thing when our AD brought in a defensive coach, Bob Stoops, and he brought in a spread offense. I thought there is no way we are going to compete with the XYZs of the world to bring in QBs and WRs to a running university! I was wrong and I think you are wrong too. Keep your head up, keep going to the games and keep supporting your Huskers! But, by all means, don't accept mediocrity! And, remember, it might actually get worse before it gets better! Boomer Sooner!!
  8. I voted to fire both and the only vested interest I have is that I am a Sooner fan and want to see Nebraska take a hold of the Big XII North and be a Sooner nemesis again! Quite honestly, it almost makes me want to cry to see Nebraska going down the same road that OU went down in the mid 90's! Although I voted to can them both, I would do so only after the AD was fired and he (the new AD) was given a chance to fully review the candidates and find one that best fits Nebraska! Remember, OU hired Joe Castiglione and then gave Blake one more year before he was fired and replaced with Stoops. Maybe the new AD won't have to give Callahan another year, maybe he would have a replacement already in hand, like the S. Florida coach, but, whatever the case, both of them have to go! Take care guys/gals and hold fast! Boomer Sooner!!
  9. Guys and Gals, please get this Callahan fella out of Nebraska! Run him out as fast as you can! Look, sometimes coaches are good coaches that just need time to rebuild or reload. But, Callahan isn't one of them, he is a crap coach and a crap person and Nebraska deserves better, much better! Okay, that's the end of my rant, good luck guys. As a Sooner fan, I will be visiting and watching with vested interests! I got your F'n hillbilly hanging Callahan!! Once he is gone I can get fully behind my Big 8 brother! Go Huskers! Boomer Sooner!!
