  1. Ok, new kid on the block... Instead of flaming everyone, how about you STFU or offer some constructive thoughts?? Just a thought. Here's something constructive - you still see NU through a leather helmet. College football has changed but neither NU adminstration, NOR NU fans have changed. Dr. Tom couldn't do what he did if there were equal number of scholarships in his day. KU, MU, KSU, OSU, ISU (well, maybe ISU) would not be the pushovers they were way back when. I know you're proud of your history, and you should be. But it is HISTORY. Schemes are comprehensive now, athletes are stronger, faster and smarter. At one point, 80% of Dr. Tom's roster were Nebraskans. How well would that work today? Sorry for the flame earlier, but it's time to face reality. Your 10 years behind and spinning your wheels. NU is living on fumes from the glory days. Your no more special this decade than CU, MU, KSU, or KU to name just the B12 North teams. Yep, and for 4 of the seven years of this decade Wild Bill C. has been in charge. What's your point? Last year prior to BC's arrival they were 10-3 as I recall. I'd settle for that because sooner or later you'll win those 3. "Sooner or later you'll win those 3"?!! You gave up an average of 48 points in those three! Still looking backwards - that IS my point. Game is over. Going to bed. Btw, the Rockies weren't around in the early 90's. Things have sure changed, haven't they?

  4. You, and whoever wrote that post are drunk.
  5. Again, this is why NU won't be a winning program anytime soon. You're stuck in the leather helmet days. Everything has changed (scholarships, rise of old Big 8 programs that Dr. Tom couldn't beat today, TV revenue, recruiting rules, complex offensive systems, etc..). How many Big 12 championships does NU have in THIS decade? Zero. I know it's tough to get info on how to run a program in antiquated states like Neb., but at least read the paper! P.S. You calling me names just confirms that you know what I say is true.
  6. Jim Leavett wouldn't leave USF for his alma mater (MU), and he wouldn't leave USF for the place that gave him the knowledge that's led to his success (KSU), so why the hell would he go to NU? Hell, when they build the new stadium in Tampa, they'll name it after him. At the very least, there will be a giant statue of him on campus one day. He started that program from scratch and has it in the BCS #2 seat in just 11 years! You need to get real. It took 5-7 phone calls to get CALLAHAN! How many candidates will they beg this time? Go for a coordinator and take a chance on a guy who looks promising - no big name wants this mess! The 90's called, they want YOU back!
  7. "What NEBRASKA means"?!! That's the problem, it doesn't mean anything to anyone outside the state. Stop clutching on to a past - the landscape has changed. Scholarship limits mean no more patsies to beat up on, so no more inflated win records. OU had 5 down years, and revamped their whole program (and won the NC in two years). NU fans still believe NU is an elite program (if it ever really was). The sooner boosters accept reality (or die - which isn't far off for most of them), the sooner NU gets better.
  8. Damn!!! Dont strain anything giving yourself a reach around... Thats really funny!!! Bo Pelini?!! Why not Norv Turner? Glen Mason? Jim Mora, jr.? Gunther Cunningham? Dan McCarney? Terry Allen? Gary Barnett? Bill Callahan? Whoops, oh, wait..
  9. There's no way that would ever work. Do any of these players know anything about Osbourne other than Ruud? I don't see how that would translate into motivation. who is this Osbourne you speak of...is he a spy...as in Osbourne Identity, or perhaps, the Osbourne Supremacy? Plus, what if he sucks as AD (which I believe is likely)? How would you fire him?
  10. Are you sure Dr. Tom can win with equal scholarships at all schools?! Does he know that MU, KU, KSU, and OSU are no longer whipping boys? And, how would he run the option with the current offensive players? This is another example of trying to hold on to something that hasn't been in existence in more than 10 years. Every program has evolved except this one. Even OU revamped after 5 years of down time. Get real.
  11. Bo Pelini?!! Actually, that's probably about right. No one of any real credibility will take this job. The fact is that since the scholarship limits were emplaced, NU has fallen steady. It's now just another program in a hard-to-recruit place (no major city nearby, no major airport, no hip-hop culture, no fun). Oh sure, a highly ranked recruiting class is on its way in (if it remains intact), but those recruiting services are usually more wrong than right. As for the next hiring(s), we saw evidence in 2003, when Pederson dropped down to number 5 or 7 on his list before hiring Callahan. It's like the scene in "We are Marshall". The quicker NU forgets the days of automatic wins against ISU, OSU, CU, KSU, KU, and MU, and takes the approach of an Oklahoma State, Boise State, UAB, Minnesota and like, the quicker NU becomes competitive. Continuing to believe that things are any more special at Nebraska than at other schools is a ticket to constant disappointment. After five years of sub-par performances, OU changed it's game. Beg someone from that program to come up, or a Bill Snyder disciple, or a Mike Leach assistant - then offer him more money than he's every seen so he overlooks the place he's going.
