  1. WTF 1st down loss of 15 2nd and 25. 3rd and 15. Throw down the middle, TD KSU. Sometimes getting a break is the worst thing that can happen to us. Oh my!!! GO GRIX GO!!!!!!!!!! ...T_O_B
  2. Thanks DF 30. What a disappointing life LP has had since his days a NU. If he isn't our best I-back ever he's certainly in the top 3. Thanks again, GBR! ...T_O_B
  3. OLDMAN you ROCK!!! Husker fans standing shoulder to shoulder, heads held high, united by our devotion to Nebraska Football!!! ...T_O_B
  4. You are so right!!!! The kid is basically asking if it true that if you are a successful program the NCAA will take a hard look at your program because if you win consistently you must be cheating, at least that's how the idiots at the NCAA feel about it. This young man's question needed no clarification, you just had to read it. ...T_O_B
  5. The streak goes on. Too many want to go and too many have never had a chance. The game is the frosting on top of the cake. The event is the cake. We often time drive four hours on Friday, eat at Misty's, and get pumped up for the next day. We tailgate at 11th and P (or close to there, I know how to get there but not exact on the cross streets) with a lot of the same people we see at every home game. There are 6 of us and sometimes we all go to the game, sometimes some of us go and sometimes none of us go. The main thing is that we are in Lincoln on a FOOTBALL SATURDAY and for us its all that matters. Like the song says... "There is no place like Nebraska!!" GBR GBR GBR GBR GBR GBR ...T_O_B
  6. NFL..? NO...Canada? Probably... Doesn't have the mobility to play in Canada. NFL backup, maybe. Arena League a real possibility. ...T_O_B
  7. That's because it's Minnesota...you need the extra guy for when your DB gets lost in the snow or carried off by giant mosquitos. One thing we can all agree on is that Minnesotans are fun to tease. Minnesota -- the only state in the union that would rather be a province of Canada. ...T_O_B
  8. You may also want to remember that Penn State won a national championship by having a pass that was caught 30" out of bounds called good. ...T_O_B
  9. Eric you need to re-think. The 1993 Huskers out played Florida St. and lost. That game was our Spring board into the next season. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. The 1994 Huskers were poised to completely dominate college football and then early in the year Tommie Frazier went down to injury. QB number 2, Brooke Berringer, steped in and took the reigns of a great Husker team only to sustain injury and be replaced by third team, walk on Matt "the Terminator Thurman, and the Huskers just kept on winning. Berringer returned and helped to finish the season undefeated. The Husker foe in the '95 Orange Bowl, for the then mythical National Championship, was an old nemisis, the University of Miami featuring Warren Sapp and Ray Lewis. Outcome, the Huskers dominate the 4th quarter and win Coach Osborne's first National Championship on Miami's home field. The '95 team was so great that no one came close including a Florida team with the "ole ball coach" Steve Spurrier as head coach. They didn't even belong on the same field as the Huskers. There has never been a team that has sustained excellence for as long as the Nebraska Cornhuskers as coached by Dr. Tom Osborne, and let me add that Coach Bob Davaney laid the ground work for this tremendous accomplishment that lasted for the last thirty years of the 20th century. I have nothing more to say other than, Big Red will rise again, and pay back is a bitch!!!!!!!!!!! ...T_O_B
  10. Sorry for the error nine man is or has been played in Iowa, Minnesota, and both the Dakotas. Six and Eight man are played in Nebraska. Discounting the trivial things that some people seem to be obsessed with the theme of the thread is that I really miss seeing guys from small town America come to Nebraska and succeed on a stage that they dreamed of while they were growing up. ...T_O_B
  11. Remember when we used to count pancake blocks? Remember when we had Outland and Lombardi Trophy candidates almost every year? Remember when Coach Epply used to build linemen out of kids who came from small towns and played 9 man football? How I miss those days. Football teams have 9 foundation blocks... 5 Offensive Linemen and 4 Defensive Linemen. ...T_O_B
  12. Good job MaMa!!! The world needs more mothers like you. GBR!!! ...T_O_B
  13. I have thought for several years that Whitlock is one of those guys who get's away with a lot because he's African-American. If he was English-German-American like I am he would have been ripped apart for making racist comments. All this aside Charlie W. was able to win with Willingham's kids and now that ND has graduated most of them we are seeing just how good a coach this NFL genius is. Willingham didn't get fired because he's black, he got fired because the money boys at ND thought they were getting Misty's prime rib when what they really got was Spam. ...T_O_B
  14. As adults and parents we have to be aware that what we say in front of our children will be taken in and possibly repeated. Kids all too often grow up in their parents image and have many of their parents opinions. In times like these discretion is the greater part of valor. Anyone, adult, teenager or adolecent who engages in directing abusive conduct directed towards coaches, players or their families is a stone cold jerk and the rest of us should stand up and tell them to shut their crap filled mouths. ...T_O_B
  15. Talked with a friend of both Sam Keller and Joe Ganz last night and it seems that Sam's attitude is in the dumper. This young man gave his all and unfortunately it wasn't enough. Too bad we didn't have him for for more than one season. Ganz though seems to be ready to take over the position and lead this team. The old phrase "Every dark cloud has a silver lining." fits our situation as it now stands. Keller's injury gives Ganz the opportunity to get valuable game time experience and let's face it he will not only be under a lot of pressure to first prove he has what it takes to lead the Husker offence but also to somewhat salvage some respect by winning a game or two. Too bad that this had to happen for him to get playing time, we all know HCBC wouldn't have had the foresight to begin preparing for next year by by getting his backup QB some game experience. Callihan obviously knows he won't be back and isn't about to do anything that will help make next year better than this or any other under his administration. ...T_O_B
  16. Tired of sitting in the middle of a bunch of Iowa fans or Minnesota fans or worse yet a bunch of Viking fans. Where is the place to be for the KSU game? Thanks. ...T_O_B
  17. It wasn't meant to be a lecture or as a put down to any of the fans who will be there on Saturday. I'm just sorry I can't be there and I'm just hoping that all of you cheer your "Fat Irish" asses off and that we kick the crap out of K-State. BTW since you have a weight problem... no beer for you. Mommy wouldn't approve. ...T_O_B
  18. If you graduated form ISU, you could spell loser, with the number of games lost, they all know how to spell it. I have a life thanks. BTW, it's meant not ment. BEAT KSU!! Always someone around who thinks she's an editor. ...T_O_B
  19. Please remember that its the seniors last game in memorial stadium. Show them that they are still a part of a GREAT AND ONGOING TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE. Send them off as if they were champions and bowl bound. I wish I could be there with you. Unfortunately my daughter's high school is playing for the state championship and I will be there. She will be a freshman at UNL next year and the family won't miss a game. Stop by our tail gate there is always an ice cold beer for another thirsty Big Red Fan. See you next year when 80,000+ of the greatest people on the planet get together to cheer on the Nebraska Cornhuskers! GBR GBR GBR GBR GBR GBR GBR GBR ...T_O_B
  20. I'm old. I'm a Reagan Consertive (which I don't think has anything to do with my fan-hood). I'm a 37 year member of Husker Nation and I stand, head held high, shoulder to shoulder, supporting our young men no matter what, till the day I die. Saturday I will be in my favorite adult beverage emporium, my daughter seated at my left hand cheering on our Huskers. The only thing that keeps us from being in Lincoln is the fact that her high school team will be playing for the state championship Sat. night. Next year she will be a freshman at the University of Nebraska and I will have to find another designated driver. We love our Huskers and ask nothing in return. Empty the stands? Not If I have to buy the last available ticket, no matter what the price!!! Am I questioning your fan-hood? Damn right! Just bring it!! ...T_O_B G B R
  21. I believe they played for a national championship in the early 90's with quaterback Brad McClatchey (sp) They had two good years in the early 90'ies. Got to the third round of the NAIA playoffs once. That would have been an 8 team playoff and could quite possibly have been a championship game. ...T_O_B
