  1. I believe the words the man spoke.
  2. If Matt Rhule coaches here in 2024 it will be a blessing. If he coaches here in 2025, it will be a miracle. You reap what you sow.
  3. Yep. There's a problem, and it's bad. We need answers.
  4. Trev didn't quit because of the fans, he didn't quit because of his coaches and he didn't quit because of the teams. He quit because the NU System is broken. So broken that he left his alma mater for the same job, making the same money, with a shorter contract.
  5. Trev's statement announcing his hire by A&M. These words weren't chosen by accident.
  6. You now have to wonder how seriously bad it is behind the scenes here that Ted Carter, Trev Alberts and Ron Green have all left. We've got a lot of soul-searching to do.
  7. It's being reported by multiple journalists.
  8. As long as Trev stays, I'm good. If Trev leaves, this fan base is in for a wild ride. If Trev stays, I'm expecting a lot of changes in a very short time.
  9. Probably it was a shock to management that Trev would so seriously entertain an offer from another school. I think it's obvious by now that Trev has voiced concerns to said management for some time. Perhaps this was the shock they needed to get serious about moving forward on a permanent President, and possibly restructuring the athletic department hierarchy.
  10. A bit reassuring. But it confirms this isn't just smoke.
  11. @GSG To that point:
  12. What? He's awesome.
  13. What if this is a ploy by Trev to force those above him to move forward on things he was promised when his contract was renewed?
  14. From a friend/retired professor from UNL, this is not as much a political issue (although that plays a role) and much more of an internal bureaucracy issue within the Nebraska system. Ten years ago my friend described disfunction from the administration down into the individual colleges. Petty fighting, power struggles, etc. From what he knows after retiring just a few years ago, it's as bad or worse now. When Penn State joined the Big Ten, its academics improved from around 50-55 on US News & World Report's rankings into the 20s by 2011 when we officially joined. I expected Nebraska to make a similar leap, but here we are 13 years later, and our ranking has actually decreased from where we were in 2011. Innovation Campus was hailed as a burgeoning area of growth for the University more than a decade ago. Today it is less than half complete and there are, to my knowledge, no current plans to finish that expected growth. There are no business partners lining up to work on campus with UNL like, for instance, happened in Boulder when CU enticed companies to invest in their university. Of course these issues exist at other universities. But they seem endemic to UNL, and whatever issues we've been facing haven't been fixed in more than a decade.
  15. For those of you asking if it's an internal issue, and/or something to do with the Unicameral, there's this: He's basically taking a different job, away from his alma mater, for the same money. And it's a five year deal, three years less than his current deal at Nebraska. This is definitely an "us" problem.
  16. That's not a good sign.
  17. If this was entirely untrue, he would have a statement out by now. The longer this goes without a response from Trev, the more likely it is to be true. Likely UNL and A&M are bidding for his services as we speak, and we'll know this afternoon if he's staying or going.
