  1. Huskers tied with Purdue, 27-27 at half in the B1G championship. Bring home the trophy, ladies!

  2. Big run to close the half, tied at 27. We've been strong down the stretch this tournament. We'll have to see what kind of gas is left in the tank for this team. Regardless of what happens this half, this has been a VERY successful tournament for this very young team. The future is bright.
  3. Here's an article from Huskers.com (Randy York) from back in 2010, showing Kenny and his gray beard. LINK There isn't much about him on the web. He played at the wrong time, apparently.
  4. It was a two-second paraphrase of the headline of the article in the OP.
  5. Wouldn't Mike Minter need a resume in the first place for it to be in the same stratosphere as Joseph's? It's not large, but his resume exists.
  6. I did. My coworker is a huge women's hoops fan. Gets me all the inside info.
  7. Fixed it. Sorry for the typo.
  8. This is just... wow. LINK And it cannot be stated enough that we're playing with a roster that is literally half-filled with freshmen (although two of those six are redshirts). This could be a really good team in the next couple of years. Really like what I'm seeing from the youngsters.
  9. Compare Joseph to his predecessor at Tennessee and you see that his numbers dropped. Likely that has more to do with coaching turnover and the way that happened (Kiffin being a twit, and all), but there was definitely a step back. Is that because they didn't have good athletes, because Joseph wasn't able to coach the kids up, or some other factor? I have no idea, and I'm not casting that at Joseph's feet, but it bears noting. His resume is fine, but it's not spotless. It's better than Minter's, but neither resume is great. I'm taking a wait-and-see attitude. I'm cool with this hire. I have no reason not to be. We'll see how it goes.
  10. There's little concrete proof that either Minter or Joseph would/will be good here. We can hope, but you could almost flip a coin.
  11. EDIT - here are my latest pics, from Friday. They have really moved quickly with the metal work, wrapping almost all the way around to the south. The pillars are going up for the arched entryway, and within a week they should have the skeleton of this thing done. This shows the archway still open to view, but that will be closed up some (see the plans) in not very long. An over view of the south side work. Terrible lighting for my camera. You can see how far around they've come - they're nearly to the end of the frame work. These workers are standing on what used to be the "Self-Guided Tour" spot, so that shows just how far along they are right now. Bonus pic - this is the new hi/def screen at Haymarket Park. No idea what they're doing with the old one. They should put it in Bowlin, but I doubt they have the video capabilities over there. No pictures of the Arena yesterday. I had a ton of errands to run and barely had time to get these pics. Maybe if I have a chance tomorrow, or if corncraze is in the area maybe he could get some.
  12. Sort of.. he just paints the suit on to his naked body. Don't lie. Last time you begged and begged until I let you paint it on. And your hands were cold. But this is something we need to get done. I had the pleasure of meeting Enhance yesterday in real life (yes, he's real) and this was something we agreed needed to be done. It was only after we were done with our project that I realized we had collected two-thirds of the Trifecta Of Awesomeness in one spot. The Earth may asplode from that much combined awesome if we get Fro to join us, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.
  13. Really nice being able to beat the same team three times in one year. Next up, Ohio State. The rubber match. We'll see how that goes.
  14. I think a lot of Joseph's recruiting chops are open for debate. He's been recruiting coordinator at Tennessee for what? Two years? That's not a great sample size. Same goes for his coaching acumen. There's just not a lot to go on. I think it's encouraging that he has ties in areas we want to hit for recruiting, but I agree that we cannot focus solely on his areas of (presumed) expertise. We must remain national and we must hit more than we miss on recruits. We don't have that SEC luxury of being able to afford to wildly miss-analyze (not sure that's a word) a player. I guess it boils down to this - I would pump sunshine about this guy if I could, but frankly, I have nothing to go on. I'm not against the hire and I like that he's family - or at least, extended family - but I'm taking a wait-and-see stance before getting too excited about him. I can't see any great successes to point to in his resume. I'm in the same boat as I was with Fisher, and with Erstad in baseball.
  15. I won't even be able to watch it. I have a busy afternoon today.
  16. I don't want to fall into the trap of focusing recruiting in traditional Big Ten hotbeds. We should get kids out of there if we can, but we should not ignore California, Texas, Florida, the South in general, New Jersey.... we need to remain national.
  17. It seems to have worked out for Kerry Meier down at Kansas, now a WR with the Falcons (recruited as a QB at KU). It seemed to work out for Cody Glenn recently, and Tony Veland back in the day, here at Nebraska.
  18. I am not opposed to legalizing marijuana, but honestly I haven't given a lot of thought to the ramifications of it. I cannot for the life of me figure out why prostitution is illegal. We have Roe v. Wade that has sparked three decades of shouting about a "woman's right to choose" what she does with her body, but she cannot choose to use her body for sex-for-profit. I'm guessing this has a lot more to do with women-as-property than right and wrong.
  19. I absolutely disagree. A team needs to have the best coaches they can get at every position. DB is the one positional group where if a player is poorly coached he'll be giving up completions and touchdowns by the bunches. Did you read my entire post? I addressed that Bo would pick up the slack there, and he even stated as recently as today that he could do that if called upon.
  20. Pass Efficiency Defense is actually the most telling stat for the secondary, and shockingly, we ranked ahead of Tennessee there. #34 - Nebraska #48 - Tennessee Still, that one year may not mean much. Hard to say.
  21. Sounds like he's known better as a recruiter than a coach. Might have a similar approach to Sanders. Kind of loose with the technique and more of a concept and effort guy. The new DC for Tennessee isn't super sold on him from what I can gather and they had him set to Co-Coach the DB's. That sometimes happens where they break up CB and Safety instead of having someone coach inner D-line and RE ends like we do. If there's a position on the field where we could tolerate a good recruiter/not-so-great-coach, it's DBs. Bo can more than pick up the slack there, and if Beck can get the offense even remotely in gear, we shouldn't have to have Bo spend scads of time on that side. Focusing on defense, his passion, may also make for a happier Bo. Also, found this on Athlon's list of coaches on the Hot Seat for 2012: LINK If his HC is in hot water, it may make the decision that much easier for Joseph to jump ship.
  22. Some more about Terry Joseph's bona fides from the University of Tennessee site: LINK Putting a face to the name:
  23. I was thinking more along the lines of chocolate chip... but that'll do.
  24. Caught what? The Austin Powers reference or the Husker-related Mickey Joseph/small hands reference? I caught both (see the +1 I gave Comish), and personally, I think I deserve a cookie. Just sayin'.
