  1. So what does it say about someone who thinks both sides are being childish and you wish you invested in tampons for the state of Nebraska, since it seems everyone is having that time of the month? Just a hypothetical question. Without saying you're right or wrong, since it's your theory, you're probably the best person to answer it. What does it say to you?
  2. This just saddens me. The day Husker fans choose a hack writer over their own team..... You go ahead and stand by Dirk. I'll stand by the players and coaches. Good luck to you.
  3. Taylor Martinez Dirk Chatelain, the talented young quarterback writer who finds himself at the center of controversy, much of it of his own making. Bo Pelini Lee Barfknecht, the wise old mentor who has his young player's coworker's back. Who you support in this little drama says a lot about where your loyalties lie.
  4. I don't think it's frustration. It just is what it is. Nobody is upset about this here.
  5. That is not entirely true. There were members of the press corps clapping right along with them. It's hardly surprising that the OWH would claim that, though. They're trying to protect Dirk. Kinda like Bo tries to protect his players. The parallels between Dirk and Taylor are really interesting.
  6. We are NU. The conference will get used to it after a while. If we have to make concessions to join (not a fully vested member until 2015, for example) I think they can get used to NU.
  7. I predict this thread will get about 1/2 the discussion of a typical QB thread.
  8. Agree and agree. They don't have to like the articles he writes, but I don't think that's going to translate into a ban. _____________________________________ Does anyone else find it ironic that Dirk Chatelain is basically the Taylor Martinez of local journalists? He's at times brilliant, but he's deeply flawed, and he's a very divisive figure.
  9. Finley Peter Dunne disagrees with you, The Duke. Of course, his views are a large part of the reason the British press is denounced roundly as "tabloid journalism," and why such views bred an environment of abuse so profound that the largest and longest-published paper in their country had to be shut down due to wildly inappropriate (and I'm being generous with that description) behavior.
  10. We will get a chance to find out next year. Yikes!
  11. It means that you have a very different opinion than I do, and that your focus is on the side of the reporter, not on the side of the player. I have no idea how you can 1) Think that's in any way an "attack" on you, and 2) How you can insinuate that I'm attacking you, but think that Dirk's article, which is FAR MORE pointed in tone, is NOT attacking Martinez. Wow, GMoose. I really hope you're joking here.
  12. What are you talking about? Where did I attack you?
  13. The tone of the article was unnecessarily vindictive. It speaks volumes that you need specifics to be pointed out to you. Specifically: I don't see how a person can read this and in any way think it's appropriate. Dirk isn't a message-board poster, he's a journalist. Hiding behind the facade of "opinion piece" is a crock. I especially got a kick out of 'Stop with the "Woe is me." ' Dirk is projecting, again hiding behind the cloak of "opinion piece." I could give example after example. Bottom line is, Dirk is getting less criticism for his unnecessarily aggressive articles, for his unnecessary muck-raking, and his peers in the press are sick of it. And yet, Dirk gets support from the fans, while Martinez gets grief.
  14. I think you've misunderstood what I asked. I didn't ask if you agreed with the critiques, I asked if you agreed with the manner in which he leveled those criticisms. Specifically, do you think there was nothing at all wrong with the adjectives Dirk used to describe Martinez, or to draw a picture of his character?
  15. Linebacker Performer of the Week: Michael Gilliard (Georgia) & Lavonte David (Nebraska) A well-deserved honor.
  16. I've met GMoose. He's not Dirk.
  17. In the article or the presser? The article.
  18. The single most damning indictment of Dirk Chatelain is the room applauded Bo as he left, just after the exchange with Dirk. If that were a trial, Dirk would have just been convicted by a jury of his peers. Are you saying the applause was directed at Dirk rather than the 21 point comeback? Yes.
  19. GMoose - you agree with Dirk's criticism of Martinez. Do you also agree with the manner in which Dirk went about criticizing him?
  20. Hah! I was right there with you in that first half. Blood pressure was probably through the roof. I'm glad the rain came down - cooled me off a bit. I'll have to review my DVR of the game last night. I may can that one and keep tonight's version, since I'm sure it'll be shorter.

  22. It wasn't deleted. It was merged with the other Bo Pelini thread because it was nearly identical to that thread, and because the other thread was posted first, the board software kept that title, not yours. As I mentioned in this post, the issues you bring up about being called an idiot, etc, have been noticed and will be dealt with. We do not allow such behavior, it's just not what we're about here. Thanks for posting on HuskerBoard. Please make yourself comfortable, and keep posting! EDIT - and because this is a board management issue and not a Husker issue, I'm going to move this thread to the Board Feedback forum.
  23. LINK Nebraska-OSU Game Re-Airs on BTN Tonight BTN will re-air Nebraska's 34-27 win against Ohio State at 8pm ET / 7pm CT tonight (Sunday). The game was voted as the Big Ten Game of the Week by BTN viewers. Every Sunday night, the network replays the weekend's best Big Ten game. Fans can vote each Saturday at www.btn.com/gameoftheweek. The Cornhuskers recovered from a 21-point deficit to record the biggest comeback in school history in their first Big Ten game at Memorial Stadium. Rex Burkhead rushed 26 times for 119 yards and a touchdown. Taylor Martinez ran for one touchdown and passed for two more.
  24. This has definitely been noticed, as have several other comments from members to other members. This is NOT what we do at HuskerBoard, folks.
  25. I'm curious, how many people truly believe that reporters go out of their way to anger/criticize/demean/question/rile/etc. Bo? Me. It is abundantly clear that Dirk has an agenda, and has had for a couple of years. You cannot tell me this is even remotely objective journalism, or that Dirk isn't going out of his way to criticize with lines like this: It is not necessary for Dirk Chatelain to assert that Taylor Martinez does or doesn't fit in at Nebraska. It is not necessary for him to assert that Martinez would feel more comfortable elsewhere. A good journalist wouldn't need to stoop to such theatrics. He's an idiot, and he doesn't have the common sense to stop when he's put in his place. As long as he continues to write crap like this, I'll continue to denounce him.
