  1. Final voting threads are up in the Starting Lineup. Go vote!

  2. Equipment Manager: 1) Upwardly Mobile – The Equipment Manager has dreams of climbing the coaching ranks, and gets this position because he has shown the potential to hold a higher office. HuskerBoard’s Equipment Manager is a guy who may be just starting out, but who already exhibits the potential to one day become a Head Coach or a Coordinator. 2) Coachability – Aspiring to the coaching ranks is a noble pursuit, but there is a steep learning curve. The Equipment Manager needs to be able to take instruction well, and put that instruction to good use. So this position should be filled by a guy who learns from the Vets and applies what he learns in his posts. This is not just someone whose ideas have no conviction, just someone who is willing to listen and learn from solid advice. 3) Starting Small – Let’s face it, the road to the coaching ranks begins at the lowest levels. Aspiring Offensive Coordinators and Head Coaches need to get their feet wet somehow. The Equipment Manager should be a guy who, while he hasn’t been around very long, already exhibits some of the qualities we see in the Head Coach and/or Offensive/Defensive Coordinator: gives instruction, fires off frequent posts and provides good information.
  3. Towel Boy: 1) New To The Team – This is often the first position available to a new member on the squad. Getting your toe in the door is the first step to greatness, though. This poster should be someone who has never held a positions in the Starting Lineup, but whose contributions have put him slightly ahead of the rest of the crowd. 2) Lots of Hustle – Look on the sidelines of any NFL game and you’ll see the Towel Boy hustling all over, getting whatever is needed as fast as possible. HuskerBoard’s Towel Boy should be a frequent contributor to all of the football forums: Start/Bench, Roster Ratings, Injuries/Updates and of course, Leftovers. This guy is everywhere. 3) High Turnover – Unfortunately, the Towel Boy is a position with lots of potential for turnover. Towel Boys come, Towel Boys go. This is your chance to give that new guy a well-deserved “attaboy” for his contributions, and make him feel like a member of the team. Who knows, he may stick around.
  4. That thread is not going to get unlocked and we're not going to get into it again in this thread. There was already a Mangino thread and we don't need another one. That's the end of it.
  5. And kansas husker is our new Water Boy, in a close battle!
  6. Congratulations, HSKRNOKC! You're the new Brandon Rigoni!
  7. I'd say it's time to lock this one up.
  8. I posted this way back in December. And got slammed for it.I was ridiculed and blasted by most on this board. This has been in the works since early December. They have knwn about it. You got slammed because you started a thread that said Mangino was in Lincoln for interviews when there was already a thread saying the same thing. Nobody slammed you because you said Watson was gone. Everybody thought the CCG was the final nail in Watson's coffin.
  9. I believe what Vince is saying is that Bo is not only the Head Coach, he's also the university's webmaster, so if anything gets posted it's done by his own hand, and he therefore knows. You looking to go 0fer on purpose or is it just you being you? Either way, you're succeeding. What?
  10. If possible I would have given you a plus 5. This is almost copy and paste from like 3 other threads. BTW- did you all miss this? 2. Pelini had an agreement with Indiana coach Kevin Wilson not to say anything about assistant coach Corey Raymond coming to NU until Raymond had officially been hired. Wilson jumped the gun and confirmed the hire on Wednesday, national signing day, putting Pelini in a tough spot because he couldn't comment on Marvin Sanders' status. 3. Pelini said Sanders' future was not officially wrapped up until Thursday. Pelini said he was not at liberty to discuss Sanders and refused to comment on Sanders any further than his statement on Thursday. 5. Pelini wouldn't comment on Scott Frost or any of the other speculation involving possible offensive coordinators or assistants. However, he said there could be some staff movement next week. Do you not see that he is being completely literal with his answers, based on contractual start dates and official announcements and doing everything in a "by the book" fashion. If you understand points 2 and 3 and then read point 5 none of this is a problem. Some of you (currently being outvoted 3 to 1 in the teleconference poll) really seem to be stuck on this. Those of you that think TO will step and and deal with your imaginary problem will probably be disappointed. I'd guess he has been part of decisions and information control all along. I'd say 47 "yes" votes to 29 "no" votes doesn't exactly equate to 3 to 1.
  11. I believe what Vince is saying is that Bo is not only the Head Coach, he's also the university's webmaster, so if anything gets posted it's done by his own hand, and he therefore knows.
  12. Yeah, there's a line that he can't cross. That's also federally mandated. I'm sure he knows this, and it doesn't appear to have been an issue in the past. I've never heard a rumor to that effect, anyway.
  13. I've missed being wrong like this. You don't post much anymore, so I end up being right more often by default. I take it you're back from your self-imposed hiatus and I'll be back to my normal wrong-headed ways again?
  14. Seems to be glossed over, huh? Seems like Els hasn't been hired yet, but I found it *extremely* interesting that he let Shatel know that he is "close" to hiring Els without specifying a time table. Seems like Bo isn't even trying to go the 'no comment' route. You would think that falls in the neighborhood of "I haven't made any hires for the LB coach position." They're waiting on the due diligence stuff is all. Els is in the fold and will be announced sometime in the next few days. People have mentioned halftime of tomorrow's game but I don't think the ink will be dry yet. I was under the impression that offensive changes were going to take more than a couple of weeks. I'm a little surprised by this posting online.
  15. Wrong. It's a valid job description and Pelini knows about it and knows that it's out there. In the article he denies knowledge of the job description. He's lying. He knows it's out there. Regardless if the job(s) have been filled he knows about this job posting is out on their system. To assume he doesn't know it's out there is 100% wrong. I know you well enough to know that I'm not going to conVince you of anything. All I can say is that your understanding of this situation is not entirely correct, and that's throwing your analysis off a little. Carry on.
  16. I am very glad to have been of service. +1 to you, good sir.
  17. Sorry, I just saw this. That theory is not correct. Jobs don't get reposted in this manner for these kinds of contracts. Typically the negotiations are held prior to the end of the actual contract, and the new contract takes effect seamlessly after the last one ends. Therefore there's no opening, and no requirement to post the job. The fact that this job was posted simply means, to me, that a "playcalling position" is not going to be filled by Shawn Watson in 2011. It does not mean that someone has been hired, nor does it mean that Watson is fired/gone specifically. I say that because he could be in the process of being reassigned - a process which could ultimately fail, and he would sever ties with UNL. This allows Bo to say that "nobody has been fired." I believe it means that we have an in-process hire for Watson's position right now. The fact that it will not be refilled by Watson means UNL must post it as an open position. Of course they have zero intention of looking at any applications they get for this position, because they already have a short list of candidates, and (I believe) a person chosen already. They are likely in the negotiation/background check/drug test phase right now, which allows Bo to parse his words to the effect that "nobody has been hired yet."
  18. That posting isn't indicative that the job is currently open. It's a CYA move, nothing more. The only thing it signals to me is that the OC position will not be filled by Watson next year. As has been said, you could parse the words Bo said to mean that someone has already been "hired" for the position on a handshake deal. That job posting isn't worth the electrons it inconvenienced to create it. It's just a bunch of 1's and 0's arranged in a certain way. Don't be fooled by it.
  19. I see what you're saying. I have zero info on Frost coming back to Nebraska, other than purely circumstantial stuff. I have no idea what's going on in his head or if he wants to come back. Circumstantial stuff includes the fact that he still owns a house here, he still has connections to his church here, he has connections to some charitable and philanthropic organizations here, etc. No smoking guns at all.
  20. Considering the fact that this was Oregon's first EVER trip to the MNC, and it was bolstered by a statistical anomaly in the rankings thanks to the Pac-10's round-robin schedule and relatively weak Non-Con schedules, I would be stunned if they even sniffed the Championship this year. A lot of stars aligned for Oregon to make it to the title game. A lot of those stars fell out of alignment with the addition of two schools to the Pac-10 and their CCG. It's not impossible. It's just highly unlikely. Same goes for Nebraska, though. Highly unlikely.
  21. Not only is it proper, it's a federally protected right. So.... get over it.
  22. Frost likes it in Oregon, and they love him there. They do NOT want him to go, so they'd likely work to keep him. He's in a position of strength for sure. He has no reason to jump ship right now unless the offer is just right.
  23. That is exactly what most of us thought when you had your fit.
