  1. Maybe on the old version (2007) of the Blackshirts. Watch out for the 2008 and future Blackshirts. The "Bones" will have more meaning next year and beyond. How so, you will be using the same people because you aren't getting any recruits........ Have you not been paying attention these past few months? The problem has not been the talent but the motivation. As a long time Husker fan, i have to admit i'm tired of both CU and NU fans crowing about what they will or won't do next year... Both programs have underperformed badly... Both have good coaches now.. And as I used to say to my staff -- PRODUCE OF LEAVE... I have not patience for excuses.. I admire OU, whatever the reasons, they just take care of business.... Now that is a program...
  2. If NU could stop the bleeding on D from 116 to let's say 56th (conservative) and the O stays at 11th overall, that would put NU at #33 overall combined... That seems like a reasonable7-5 next year base case, and i figure that Mizzou and KU are up for grabs for upside, and I have losses to TTECH and OU on the road.. This was ju st for fun, nothing more.... I guess i see upside and a shot at the top-25..
  3. LSU message board was flaming Bo's D in the second half with all the yards given up. We'll see how the do without Bo in their BCS bowl game with Bo on our sideline! They are pissed because they did not play consistently at all this year. You guys are looking at one game, LSU people are looking at a couple of months of what ifs. The D failed them in certain games that is why they are glad Bo is leaving they think with the talent they have that a monkey should be able to pitch a shutout coaching those kids. Gee -- then if a monkey could do better, then NU just hired a sub-primate i guess ? yeah - right, in the SEC you should pitch a shut out... ok - ummm, ok... If you say so, or if "LSU fans say so" as you speak for them ?.. What was LSU's O rated this year ? Just curious?...
  4. sheese remember when we were that spoiled ?
  5. Well there was a time where USC was a has-been. They were great for a time and then were weak (at which point for a good number of years they were has-beens), and they returned to greatness. Same with OU --- they were great, then there were the 6-7 years where they were weak (at which point they were has-beens) and they returned to greatness. Now, NU was really great for decades, and now for the past 5-6 years Nu has been weak and is currently a has-been. That said, the hope is to follow the USC and OU pattern which is to return to greatness after hiring a great coach. Hopefully that will happen. But, currently there can be no question, NU is a has-been. But the road back starts in a few days..... I dont think NU is irrelavant -- but I get your point.... My biggest point, is, the time to pile on was in September -- not now, and the same jackasses were probably calling Joe Paterno and PSU a "has been" 5 years ago -- Pete Carrol had dismal first couple years.. eg I'd still be proud to have my son sign a LOI at PSU any day under Coach Paterno... it's all cyclical...
  6. What about USC, OU and PSU --- all pronounced dead by these same "has beens" a few short years ago... The time to get negative is before you implode and fire your coach, not after the fact. Esp if you're about to bring on a very good coach/staff to replace him ? After a ledgedary Coach like TO is on the case ?... Every pogram wanders the deserts for a while.... Gimme a break -- we'll get it right.... I can't wait to see NU go back to being physical again and beating these moron's favorite teams into pulp..
  7. OK - he's off the list.... Now how about the other 4 ?
  8. I really have no clue on who TO will bring in. however, i think it will be whatever a million bucks can bring you in this day and age. so given that, i think you can narrow the list down and then start to analyze each candidate's staffs.. So here are my "speculations". Can others chime in on each respective staff - who would they bring in and their strenghts and weaknesses ? in no order: Paul Johnson: great O, leaky D (it's navy so i understand) Jim Grobe: good O scheme, could be better on D (ACC been kinda down so is he really that good) Turner Gill: not proven - I liked his O when i watched Buffalo (unproven but I'd take a chance) Bo Pelini: stong D, who'd he bring in on O (quick tempered but I think we need fire) Gary Patterson: Great D, O has been up and down (could recruit TX on a much bigger platform)
  9. four exclamation points...you're the man!!!!... All he needs to do is hold you to under 51 - HA !!!
  10. i expected 7-9 wins but after Wake I expected 6 at best...
  11. Hell yes he can fix it... He can first and foremost kick some asses and take some names - freak'n kids dogged it this year... He can teach them how to run freak'n base D - like knowing your BASIC gap responsibility. He can install a real zone coverage scheme and then layer in unpredicable blitz packages (confuse O's). Defense is not rocket science, it's 85% Emotion and 15% x's and o's Fly to the ball - srtip the ball - wreck havoc....
  12. No sour grapes, u won fair and square, but regaurdless I was making light of all the passing and lack of physical football.. Couldn't be further from the physical football I grew up watching Nu play.. That was really my point....
  13. i was having a drink, and a hot babe said what's that N stand for on your shirt - - I said, why it stands for Neb --- and she said, Callahan will remain your coach -- Is said, really -- how do you know ?.. just then her husband came up and tugged at her arm - she bot me a drink, winked, and left.. An obvious attempt at humor on this crap day - sorry...
  14. Sorry Nu next time we need to throw more and run the old 23 skidoo when they aren't looking...
