  1. To my knowledge (being ANG - no not in nebraska), Nebraska doesn't have T-38s only the KC-135. The T-38 are used to train fighter pilots to assist with getting used to pulling high g's (major reason that NASA uses them as well). Granted, i haven't been there in a long while but the unit in Lincoln has no purpose for T-38s. They had to have come from out of state. The story about them coming from Texas makes since because our largest T-38 training unit is based in San Antonio with a few squadrons scattered around. I can promise you we have similar planes here in Lincoln. I see them probably four days out of every week, minimum. They're not flying here from somewhere else, like the 747s and AWACs that come here from Omaha to use the runway for touch-and-goes. These planes I'm talking about are stationed here. The fly-by planes for tomorrow are not the planes I'm talking about, which jives with the guy saying they're his cousin and wingman. These are different planes than what we fly, and definitely a different paint job. Ours are similar in shape, maybe a little smaller, and have a darker, solid paint job. Ours are similar in shape to the "MIGs" from Top Gun, if that helps. I can back up that the planes based in Lincoln are indeed T-38s. I live just west of the runway and I see then all the time (almosy daily). They will often be training with f-15 "type" fighters (2 T-38s and 2 "f-15's"), and they shake the whole house some days. Two T-38's were flying today, as they often do the day before the game. I also noticed a c-130 that I normally don't see at the base.
  2. It was up next on sportscenter, but they replaced it with rose bowl stuff.
  3. This is what I think of when I think of Husker history.
  4. wow, your computer skills are better then mine. Thanks frazier9495. Thanks for all of those who have helped or PMed me. It looks as if it is a Bike/Schutt Air helmet with a Schutt ROPO-SW style facemask. Decals are game day red stripe, N, Husker front Tag, red 7, and red NCAA logo. If anyone has any more info, or could confirm the brand of helmet used or chinstrap, let me lnow.
  5. Actually, that's not the big 12 logo... Its a NCAA football logo. Same as this one (not sure if the colors are the same) I couldn't tell if that was the NCAA logo like you stated, or a BIG 12 NCAA logo like this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/Nebraska-NCAA-mini-hel...p3286.m20.l1116 I found this on-line, but still can't see all the decals. http://heismanheros.com/game%20used%20items.htm Look about half way down. Looks like a red XII logo to me. There is also something in black below that.
  6. The word at the bottom in black would be the brand of helmet (Riddell) I am guessing. That's what brand a lot of the Authentic ones are anyway. Could prob find a higher resolution picture someone to help. Pretty sure all of the Riddell lettering is in red. I'm not certain, but any photos I've seen before (and replicas) are red. Also, and I may be totally mistaken, didn't the 'tag' on the front above the facemask read "Huskers"? Yes, the tag on the front does say Huskers, and is in red. I believe that is a game day sticker. I hope someone has a close up pic of the back of Couch's helmet so we can confirm what is on the back.
  7. The word at the bottom in black would be the brand of helmet (Riddell) I am guessing. That's what brand a lot of the Authentic ones are anyway. Could prob find a higher resolution picture someone to help. That's what I was thinking as well, but I just can't read it. Did we have helmets other than Riddell in 2001? When did Schutt start?
  8. That's the kind of stuff I am looking for. Thanks. So it looks like a big 12 decal on the left side in red, but I can't tell what it says at the very base of the helmet. Anybody know? I still don't know how he didn't break his neck on that play. Has Nebraska ever had small American flags on their helmets? I have been to "the helmet project", but if anyone knows of any links to other helmet/uniform info that would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Uh... Let's see. I think it was white..maybe creme or a little off-white. Had a couple of "N"s on it..one on each side. Maybe has a "7" on the right side of the red stripe on the back. Oh yeah..A red stripe going from the front to the back. Nice way to treat a new member. Exactly the reason I don't post. For those of you who would like to help, was it a Riddell helmet? If so, what style, air? Anyone know the facemask and chin strap names/numbers?
  10. Hey guys, been watching since the firing of ... um.. anyway. Love the discussion and info on here. Does anyone have any up close photos and or info of Eric Crouch's helmet? I would like to make a replica helmet right down to the last decal. Anything would help. Thanks!
