Pundits or not, if we lose to VA Tech we lose confidence, which will cost us a game or two in conference. If we beat VA Tech, we have a team with a high level of confidence that is both physically and mentally capable of beating anyone in the Big 12.

That's the rub. When you have been down as long as NU has, it is assumed that whoever NU beats sucks. If NU keeps winning that will take care of itself. I hate to put too much stock in this game tomorrow, but if we lose I think it's a step back for us for sure. Mainly it will cost us some confidence that we will need later in the season. If we lose tomorrow, I figure we're 9-4 at best this year. Win and we might just lose 1 game.

Evidently you don't pay much attention to the college football world. Nebraska has more fans coast to coast than arguably any team other than Notre Dame. It is a prime job. Top 10 in America. That's not saying it's for every coach, but this is one special place. Football programs all over the country have admired and copied many of the innovations of the Nebraska program. Your analogy of no one wanting the job after Solich got fired is similar to no one wanting the Dallas Cowboys job after Jimmy Johnson got fired. NO KIDDING. YOU JUST FIRED A GOOD COACH. WHO'S GOING TO APPLY FOR THAT GIG? Steve Peterson was a JERK. No one was interested as a result. That's not a reflection of the PROGRAM, but on the owner or athletic director. Jerry and Peterson both have gargantuan egos, although several zeros separate their net worths. Nebraska is a special, special place. It's among the most winning programs of all time. One could make the argument that it is America's Team in the college ranks. The only rivals I know of for that honor would be ND or perhaps Texas.

If there's something under his craw about UNL and that appears fixed at OSU, then there you go. I don't personally see Bo being hung up on the "alma mater" thing. Seems like a family guy and wants to be where he's comfortable. you never know. he could be at UNL one more season or 30 more. One thing's for sure: it will take one piss poor hire to return us to the depths of the Callahan era. None of us will ever see the likes of that sort of debacle again.

Yes, it's conceivable that THIS TEAM could play in the BCS National Championship game. Va Tech is more beatable than maybe we first thought. This is going to be the "tilt" game though. Huskers win, and we've got something we haven't had in years: CONFIDENCE. OU suddenly is very beatable. Texas Tech is a shadow of last year. K-State's a joke. ISU's a joke. Baylor could be a trap game but I like Pelini's style on the road, against vastly less talented teams. Kansas, I just don't see being that tough. Let's see, we're down to Mizzery, which is THE GAME, if we get past VA Tech. Colorado - we should beat'em, but again, with that team who knows. Then it's on to the Big 12 championship, where at worst we have a 1 in 3 chance. Guys, it could happen. The odds are against it, but don't sell us short.
