  1. If we move to the Big 1O Conference, what's going to happen to all those Texas recruits? It's one thing to be a midwest school like Nebraska. Still not too far from home. Still get to play in the Lone Star State, complete with plenty of rabid Husker fans of its own. Whole 'nother deal to be playing in the Rust Belt. Columbus, Ann Arbor, Happy Valley, Madison, Champagne? Puleeeeeeze. I freeze my balls off just thinking about those places. And that new Jerry Jones stadium thing ain't no bad lick either. It's like an extra bowl game!!! No offense to Arrowhead, but in the dead of winter, that's not the place. Jerry Jones stadium will allow a bunch more TX recruits to come see the 'Skers kick some big time booty!!!
  2. OK, let's see how we rate our chances at BLACKSBURG!!!
  3. on the "other" board. Lots of supporters for NU to bolt to the Big 1O if the conference expands. The proponents all seem to have hard-ons for the Texas schools - namely UT - and wanting to get out of the Big 12 conference as a result. OK, let's say that NU is now in the Big 1O. If our objective is national championships, where are our recruits going to come from? I mean seriously, you think Texas talent - which is a major pipeline for us now - is going to come to Lincoln to play the Boilermakers and Hoosiers, along with the rest of the rust belt teams? Our recruiting would be damaged to a point where we would be a top 30 team at best FROM NOW ON, with no hope of ever sniffing the top 10 again. Our saving grace right now is that there is A LOT of interest in Nebraska football in the state of Texas, and as a result, we pull in some serious talent from TX. Sheez. Let's get real here and look at the Big 1O for what it would likely be to Nebraska: The final few nails in the coffin of national prominence.
  4. I live in Texas but I've always loved the Huskers. My town in Texas is closer to Lincoln - as the crow flies - than it is to College Station or Austin. And Nebraska just looks a heck of a lot more like where I live - flat and windy. Now, me and my brother got into an argument. he's a Texas Tech grad, and he said Nebraska's a bunch of yankees. I'm like do what? A "yankee" is someone from the northeast, is it not? He said "no way - you go to Nebraska and I'll guarantee you those people are different - they're yankees. I asked him what that meant and he said they are "more blunt, rude, etc." So...is this true? Is Nebraska yankee country? How do Nebraskans see the situation?
  5. 1. Beat down in Lubbock, 70-10, in 2004 2. Firing a head coach who had better than a 75% winning percentage (Solich) in 2003. 3. Offering the head coaching job to Houston Nutt, of all people, WHO THEN TURNED IT DOWN (ouch, that hurt!) 4. Hiring Bill Callahan (the official beginning of the dark years). 5. The beat down at the Rose Bowl (one could argue that this was the beginning of the dark years), that occurred in January 2002. Bonus: The beat down at Colorado in 2001, which may well have precipitated numbers 5, 2, 4, and 1.
  6. Mentions adding TCU, university of Houston. My big deal with all of this is, it really wouldn't be the Big 12 would it? Wouldn't it be the Big 14? Thank about having to change all of that stationary!!!
  7. Well, parity seems to have been pretty kind to OU, TU, USC, Ohio State, Florida, etc. I think that's just an excuse. No offense intended.
  8. Let's face it, regardless of the opponent, you figure OU is going to win most of the time. Same for Texas. It's just a matter of "by how much." Yes, there's the occasional surprise, but it's always a "surprise" and not expected. Next year, KSU and Iowa State excepted, you could at least right now put a "?" mark next to every conference game for Nebraska. Baylor could be a real b*tch down there. When will Nebraska rise to the level where no one in the North would be a legitimate challenger for the title besides Nebraska, if ever? I mean when we just roast the conference schedule, with maybe one squeaker here or there?
  9. In football, is it a race between the skers and Mizzoo? Is anyone else even a viable threat to take the north?
  10. it was pinched off a loaf, which is quite a different thing. but i've been warned by the mods not to discuss such, so I won't.
  11. Look, I'm just laying out the facts. The aquarium is a big deal to the Pelinis and always was. It was a big part of the equation when they left Baton Rouge, and may well be a big part of the equation to make them leave Lincoln. It's not like you can just stroll down to the Petsmart and buy another fish. These are SALT water fish.
  12. You remember back when NU was trying to coax Pelini out of Baton Rouge, but one of the big hang-ups was their salt water aquarium? Well, this one's coming back to haunt... Apparently they have lost 3 fish since the move, with the latest coming last week. Not a big deal, except this particular fish was very rare. My understanding is that the "new" fish guy the Pelinis hired when they moved to NU is a complete dunce. I am more of the opinion that the climate here doesn't set well with the fish. Whatever the cause of the fish dying, from what I gather this could be one of the factors that determines whether Pelini stays at NU. They say sometimes it's not the big things, but the little things that can cause problems. Half of you hosers have never even had a salt water aquarium so it's real easy for you to just sit there on your duff and poo poo it all off. But try to put yourselves in the Pelinis place and get a grip.
  13. Well I just realized that the old coach was named Bill. Sorry my bad. Peace. Who the hell is Sean Callahan anyway?
  14. Look you don't stay a part of a program when you were fired for wrecking it. I just don't get it.
  15. I still don't get why Sean Callahan gets to be a HuskerNsider or anything else Husker. He was fired can't we all just deal with that and go on? Why dudn't he go to Pittsburg with his buddy Pederson? Nothing worse than someone trying to hang on when their part is over.
  16. I saw where he's going to be speaking to the Chicagoans for Nebraska or something like that. I wish we would let this guy MOVE ON and get as far away from him as we can. Dr. Tom FIRED THE GUY for malfeasance and he shouldn't be allowed to speak as if he's still part of the program. What's up with that?
  17. Me, my wife, and my kids went nuts together. It was the second greatest Husker moment. The first? Why that's easy. 2001. Me and my dad (who wasn't really an NU fan at the time) go to our FIRST EVER game in Lincoln. Pass to Crouch. We bought some student tickets and were sitting underneath the upper deck in the east stadium on a clear but chilly day. We will never forget that moment.
  18. It looks like if your name is Zac or Cody you have a decent shot at quarterback.
  19. agreed. attacking gay people like that is wrong and this is a worthless thread because of those attacks. Who is attacking gay people? I'm just attacking people that act gay!!!
  20. I'm good with a guy having a little face paint on to keep the reflection of the sun down or keep those black heads from festering or whatever. But this business of black streaming down your face like Alice Cooper or something is so gay. Sheeez. Can you just play football? It's freaking Nebraska, there's no need to dress up and draw attention to yourself like some kind of trick or treater. that is so gay.
  21. well whatever the reason, I thought it looked ridiculously juvenile and was an embarrassment to the University. The Scarlet & Cream is a uniform, not a two-bit halloween costume. If I was coach I would say "you want to wear makeup go find yourself a transvestite bar or something...this is freaking Nebraska football."
  22. I like this. Taunting has no place in sports, unless you call pro wrestling a sport. This one is long overdue.
