Lol, going to have to pass on that.  I just can't get behind a guy, or a team, that climbed to the top by breaking the rules.  Their "turn around" lines up perfectly with their start of their rule breaking.  JH was desperate as he was squarely on the hot seat.  Some respect that he found a way out but doing it without integrity doesn't sit well with me and it casts a shadow over all the athletes that he took down that road.  BS to me.

Fleeing to the NFL to avoid sanctions is a pretty classic move. Pete Carroll is another one.

We essentially swapped Thompson for Sims

It's not just that. We lost three scholarship QBs (Thompson, Smothers, and Torres), but only brought in one scholly QB to replace them (Sims). That's some questionable roster management at the position where you really wanna make sure you get it right. Imagine if we'd brought in a couple more scholly-worthy QBs. It's not a stretch to think that at least one of them might have panned out as a starter that was at least somewhat better than what we saw last year, and maybe a lot better.

I must not have looked at those stats again after Sims got some more playing time against Maryland.  Before that he was higher than Thompson.

But, again, that's really only because Thompson threw for 280 yards and 5 TDs against Monmouth.  Sims was better (using that term extremely loosely) against D-1 competition, let alone P5 competition.

If you're honestly trying to convince yourself that Sims, Haarberg, and Purdy are better QBs than Thompson, you do you I guess. :dunno

  4. Satterfield deserves credit for at least trying to come up with a system that fit the players he had available. Some of you clearly expected him to make chicken salad out of chicken s#!t. Not happening. Some of his play calls really seemed to lack situational awareness, though.

I still feel like Sims's collapse was too severe to really be explained by coaching, so I don't really hold it against Satterfield, either. Still, Sims was Rhule's guy, and Rhule's biggest mistake to date. And his second biggest mistake was his management of the rest of the QBs room. Is there anyone who thinks that Haarberg and Purdy were better backups than Thompson and Smothers would have been? (I hold personnel issues like that more against the HC than the OC/DC, though obviously the whole staff is involved to some degree.)
