      Most online retailers have become really flexible with returns and exchanges and such. Zappos has fantastic customer service.

      I think Zappos does free shipping and free return shipping if needed.

      I have extra wide feet but I guess I don't really shop to compensate - unless it's for athletic shoes. Everything else is more for fashion than function and I just accept that I'll eventually blow out the sides of them.
