No. You say, hey Casey Thompson, You're a star man. To keep you here, our NIL agreement is going to give you NIL groups are going to get you $250,000. But, we need you to give up your scholarship. You'll still get all same benefits being on the team as far as academic help, access to the training table, and everything else. So, all you'll be giving up is the $25,000 a year scholarship benefit. Doing so will help us recruit new talent that will give you a better chance to succeed/ a higher probability of getting a combine invite and make the team better as whole so we can have more success. If you pay for schooling yourself, you're still going to be netting $225,000 per year take home. What do you think, can you make that sacrifice for the team?

I don’t think walkons get the same access to meal plans and other support services. I recall watching a show/documentary following walkons and the young man couldn’t sit at the training table all year like the scholly players and had to buy his own food. Maybe that has changed or maybe the gap wasn’t as big as the show made it out to be, I would be interested to know what walkons can and can have access to.

Maybe PJ is going to Michigan and his guys know it?

That would be an interesting hire by UM. I am not sure I see the fit though, part of Fleck’s deal is his culture brand that he makes sure is outwardly in everyone’s face and he doesn’t back down from it either. I don’t see UM allowing him to mess with the UM brand/logo like he has done at Minny. Does he have other tricks in his bag to instill a culture other than over the top marketing & communication?

I wish it was a sign that they are imploding, but I don't think it is. Fleck has to be exhausting to work for, but he's proven to be a solid coach and he'll find plenty of up-and-comers willing to coach there.

Ciarrocca I would totally believe is just tired of Fleck and wants more freedom. I don't think he's a "shorten the game" OC at heart, and that is the game plan Fleck wants. He came back to resurrect his career after bombing at Penn State, but I don't think he loves it there and I'm not surprised he's gone. The other two are both going to work under old buddies so nothing crazy there. That happens all the time, and if it's a position coach it's whatever.

True, Fleck has proven to be a solid HC for sure, as much as I hate admitting that. That being said, Minny's offenses after Ciarrocca left the first time after 2019 seemed to struggle, their PPG declined YoY in 2020 and 2021, or at least Tanner Morgan really struggled. Fleck made it a point to hire Ciarrocca back last offseason and their offense improved, not a coincidence I don't think. I believe that this sneakily is a pretty big hire for Fleck, I will be very curious to see how their offense fares over the next 2 seasons.

    Minnesota Offense PPG by Season

    2022 PPG - 28.2 (Ciarrocca was OC)

    2021 PPG - 25.5

    2020 PPG - 27.3

    2019 PPG - 34.1 (Ciarrocca was OC)

    2018 PPG - 28.9 (Ciarrocca was OC)

2017 PPG - 22.1 (Ciarrocca was OC, first year for Fleck and Co at Minny)

Seems like a lofty title and job for a 23 year old right out of college with no experience.  But she's a former Husker so I am sure it will all work out.

Not unusual for people at smaller firms to get loftier titles than they would at bigger companies for their experience level. The other advantage of smaller firms is that you often wear multiple hats and get to be a part of a building process as many functions/tasks aren't refined and developed yet so you get a deeper understanding of what it takes. Often these types of roles are great to parlay to a similar title at a larger company if you are competent and build solid resume accomplishments. Good for her, she can use this as a good springboard if she works hard at it.

He is impressive, can definitely tell why he is a rising star. Assuming his tenure at NU goes as we all hope, the only concern might be how long Rhule can convince him to stay before becoming a HC. If that happens, then the Blackshirts will be fun to watch in the near future.

TCU runs a base 3-3-5 on D.  They did a great job against UM rushing attack.  I know that UM was down Corum, but gives me hope.  If TCU can get the the NC game, no reason NU can't recruit, develop and coach their way to getting a shot.

Agreed, I really was encouraged by the confusion TCU’s D caused. I am really excited about what White can do at NU with his scheme.

Lets hear how the Big 10 is so much better than the Big 12.....................More physical?  Better run games?  Better coaching?  I would say that TCU just checked all the boxes in that game..............I do give the Ohio St Buckeyes a 25% chance to win this game, but its going to take a different level of play than they have played all season in the Big 10

I feel for AMart some, but does anyone know if he is 100%?  Maybe those few plays he ran was enough and he wasn't fully ready...........Shows actually how far down we have gotten when our 4 year starter goes to KSU and can't hold the starting job.....injury or not...........

Big XII is 2-6 in bowl games after TCU’s win. B1G is 4-1 so far after Michigan’s loss.

I don't know that I would use the Fiesta Bowl to support the 3-3-5. While TCU has made some plays Michigan has 38 points on em with almost a whole quarter left.

Michigan has also given up 2 pick 6’s, have been stopped with no points twice inside the 5 yard line, and are getting out rushed 247 to 166. Michigan is way out of its element right now.

Sims played at GaTech in 2020-2022, but the 2020 season is a free year. He has 2 years of eligibility left (along with a redshirt if he needs it).

Pretty sure macro was referring to a poster who claimed Rhule only has 1 year to get NU going.

He still has it with a few who dare to speak his name.   Frankly, will he find a job in fb anywhere?   Kearney might be looking for some staff?  He might not feel safe anywhere he gets recognized.

SF is still well regarded as an offensive mind. If/when he is ready to get back in, he will at a minimum lane a good OC job somewhere, of that I have no doubt.

Not liking Runza's is a fireable offense.  I think if we win the spring game, I'll order a 12 pack for delivery to celebrate a win:D

My Mom still sends me a pack in NY every Xmas, one of my favorite things is still getting those boxes. Now my only issue is preventing my teenage son from eating them all on me…<_<

I'm not a dipper, myself, but I don't know why Alton Brown was so ridiculed for doing that.  It's food, people can do whatever they want.

Because he had never tried chili and cinnamon rolls and thought that was how it was done and didn’t like it. He later followed up on social media thanking everyone for explaining that you don’t actually pour the chili over the cinnamon roll and wished he knew that earlier.

Well Rhule combined with Cooper turned some 3 star DBs into NFL talent at Safety so hopefully they can do that again.  And also yeah agreed that most teams in the B1G cant really exploit that. Even Michigan has been spotty at that. Sure they have done it a little this year but a couple games over the whole Harbaugh era does not give me confidence that they can do it going forward. PSU hasnt exactly had QBs to do it either for a little while. We all talk about needing a defense to stop B1G offenses, but it’s not like we have some juggernauts.

Agreed on Rhule’s track record for putting athletes all over so I am hopeful on this hire. I absolutely love this scheme for players like Gifford and Wright, they will light it up in this scheme.

This video along with that other instructional video emphasize that the Safeties in this D HAVE to be able to cover or the deep middle is a weak spot. Syracuse seemed to lack coverage talent at S and gave up big plays, I am hoping that Rhule and Co can recruit a bit better S talent to NU. That all being said, I don’t see that weak spot hurting NU ad much in the B1G, except for OSU, MU, and PSU. I would say Purdue, but not sure who replaces Brohm yet.

I watched that video on the 3-3-5 and I didn’t get it all, but I did catch that they’re gonna put bears on the field. I didn’t know that was legal but I have to trust that they’re the coaches and they know what they’re doing.

Maybe it is because I am well into my pre-Beat Navy drink-a-thon at this point, but I LoL’d very hard at this post. Probably won’t remember why I thought it was so damn funny at the time later on, but props to you!
