  1. Yea, because anyone here has a say in whether he keeps his job or not. Didn't you know the Board of Regents and AD read this board every day for career and management decision help?
  2. Another good question. It's sad to say but the state of Nebraska relies on the football program and loosing games is loosing revenue. It could be a huge blow to everybody. Duhh!! Lame post, I know we all know this. Are you seriously saying that revenue from NU's football program is a signifigant factor in Nebraska's economy????? I hope you don't seriously believe that. You did take a peak out the window on the way out to Colorado, right? A little known fact, to this day, there are still more cows in Nebraska than people. Just because the Omaha stock yards are gone, doesn't mean the industry is, we've just cut out the middleman.
  3. That was when we were both smashmouth running teams. Now we have the WEST COAST!LOL That's true. NU used to be like many high school teams. If running the ball worked, we'd keep running it. By running, we were controlling the pace of the game. It was smashmouth football, and was great. I think one of the things that killed it was Solich's predictable playcalling. 1st down, run up the middle with a dive or trap, 2nd down, option, 3rd down, pass to the flats, 4th down, crap, now we have to punt. It seems like he'd follow that pattern more than half the time.
  4. I saw it last weekend, funny as shiz. It's stupid as hell, but I was laughing my ass of the whole time. Just wondering what others thought of it.
  5. NU: 20 KSU: 14 Rushing: 220 Passing: 100 Go 'skers!!!!
  6. You know, salty like sunflower seeds, so that means awesome, lol
  7. My recommendation would be to go get both of the DVD sets. There's a lot of episodes that you'll have to watch a few times to catch all of the little jokes. Boo Louis, Yay beer!!!
  8. Isn't this one of those situations that starts with, "Hold my beer and watch this..." It's got to be one of those situations because I just don't get how you could possible do that by mistake. Is that a woman in the drivers seat? Humm….. I bet they're really glad they put on the safety chains that day.
  9. Those are great!!!! If they have an optical mouse, you can use a small post-it note. Easy to find, but it gets the job done. Another good one is to install the VNC server service, then you can connect a couple days later and mess with them (the only indicator is the system tray icon). I've done that at my old job. I would just connect somewhere that I could still see them, they get so mad.
  10. Some people think that you can use your brakes as much as you want down a steep grade. They will overheat! Time to shift into 2nd gear. Still funny though
  11. I still want to coat the ceiling tiles in aluminum foil, and hang a couple hundred hangers from it in the support office. Just something to freak the morning people out.
  12. I'll drink to that! Good point
  13. Ok, I was wrong about Solich being the recruiting coach, let's say that he was a "recruiting" coach, in that he had had a heavy hand in recruiting as the running back coach. It's one of those things I heard somewhere a while back, and I think I know why. I found this old article while searching, it was a story from when Solich was named head coach. Here's a quote from the article: Byrne said, "Frank Solich is an excellent coach and recruiter who has been courted by many schools across the nation" Here's the link http://www.unl.edu/pr/osborne.html Since Solich was a coach that was a big part of recruiting he would have made it top priority as head coach (at least to delegate and oversee). We had talented people, but IMO not as many as years before. I have not said that there isn't talent on the team. What I mean is we have some talented people, but IMO not as many talented people as we have had in the past. If Calahan and his staff can really kick butt at recruiting now and in the next couple years, we'll have more (as in number of) talented people
  14. How do scholarship rules affect turnovers and penalties in a game? But I do agree, those are big keys to any games if you wanna be in a position to win. I'd have to agree too, not only because of the direct effect they have, but the way they can affect the morale of the team. It seems that has a larger effect on NU then it does on some other teams (not just college)
  15. I wouldn't call the conference to tough this year. Average at best this year. The south is pretty salty but north is terrible. Agreed, The North is getting trampled by the South this year, in general. I'm not saying that we're going to be national champs this year or that the Big 12 is going to crush everyone in their way, I'm just saying that the Big 12 generally has quite a few good teams every year and that just because we have a not-so-good season this year doesn't mean that we're going to be Baylor's JV squad next year.
  16. please give me an example. Everything I post, I believe in strongly. Yes, I don't doubt you do. But the point is that most if not all of your posts are one liners that have nothing behind them. You'd think they would if you feel as strongly as you say you do. I think that's more or less what Armistead is getting at. It's a message board, your not suppose to write a book or even 3 or 4 paragraphs. Most of the time if they are that long I don't even read them. 9 times of 10 I'm right on what I say. You can let me know if I'm wrong on something. Benard, maybe you should frequent offtopic.com. This is a topical messageboard, people come here to share opinions, read others' opinions and gain insight or at least information from them. This isn't one where everyone just posts their 2 cents to get their post count higher Warning! Someone's opinion and information supporting it may exceed 2 sentences.
  17. We do have some pretty good talent, it's just a matter of putting it all together. Hopefully we'll get some good players in the next couple of years to fill it all in. A lot of people think we suck now, but we are still a good team in a tough conference.
  18. Can I vote for everyone but Bernard?
  19. No, it's not, it's something the team struggles with, not just individual players/coaches. Coaches don't make the team, the players make the team with the coaches guidence. You can't just blame it on a certain player, number of players, position group, or coach. The team has to work through it because it's something we've struggled with for a few years now. It's not just us either, many teams in many different sports go through this, the question is how severe it is. And of course it can vary from game to game.
  20. stick->mud. Say what you want but it's the truth. That game shows nothing at all. True, that game doesn't show anything, but I do think Joe has a lot of potential if we can get some of the other things in order. I think he can accomplish the passing game Calahan wants if some of the other aspects of the offense can get in line. I agree, joe can be a decent qb, but the thing he struggles is with is if one thing goes wrong then he sucks after that for rest of game. Nothing went wrong last game and he did fine. That's not something Joe struggles with, that's something that the team as a whole struggles with.
  21. We've shown that we can do good things offensively, but we have to consistantly do good things, let alone not allowing turnovers/penalties. Many times we get a drive going, and one bad play messes it up.

  23. Can I borrow that crystal ball? I will trade you this remedial english book for it. It's called common sense. BS. Common sense would tell you that this year has and will be spent getting a new scheme installed. Common sense would tell you that has never happened here at NU. Common sense would tell you expecting an instant turnout is impossible. If so many people didn't like what happened last year, why aren't there empty seats now? Whether there are empty seats or not, it's going to be a couple of years before things get back together again. At least to a level that people expect. I would think that there are enough fans out there with enough common sense to understand that, and they'll keep coming to the games. Hopefully they won't try to raise ticket prices in the mean time, because that'll drive them away. It's kind of funny that recruiting fell off so much when Solich took the helm, I thought that would have been his little pet project since he was the recruiting coach. Maybe he thought he was above it or too busy for it.
  24. I'm kind of suprised the band director let him in, they're pretty serious with the competitions and everything. The board of regents probably pushed it for the publicity
