  1. And BTW Big Willy, I'm a HUGE husker fan. Probably a bigger Husker fan than most. I definately don't come here with any ill will.
  2. Alot of truth in this. You guys are foolish if you think we are looking at Green as simply an athlete. Outside of Jerrod Johnson we have NOBODY at QB. Never use the word 'fool' or the term 'foolish' when trying to convey a point. Also, I wouldn't come onto another teams message board with an attitude like that when we are telling you things you obviously have not heard. Just because you do not know or do not agree is no reason to start in with name calling. In any case .. But your own QB depth chart shows two freshman at the 3rd and 4th QB spots in Tannehill and Dorman. Unless you are going to completely right off a QB from last years class ('07) in Dorman and a QB for the year before in Tannehill. Also, I think you need to ask your insiders to call their 'sources' to get the idea of how your school views Green. He will get a shot at QB -- and it will last as long as Jorvorskie Lane's last diet. I can use the word foolish when the remarks made are completely unsubstantiated. The poster was making an inference that Green was being recruited as an athlete when that is completely not the case. QB first, athlete 2nd. I actually have recieved a pretty warm welcome on this board due to the fact I'm giving an outsiders perspective on things. I haven't come across as "rude" (as you call it). I refuted a false statement from one of your Husker counterparts. Far from rude. With regards to Dorman and Tannehill, those guys COULD turn out to be studs. I, however, am not betting on that. They weren't highly touted like Green is. It would be a different situation had they been highly touted. Then, it would be foolish for Green to come to A&M. Fact is, he would be coming to A&M as a QB. If that didn't pan out, he would be stuck at WR. Just like he would be at Nebraska if QB didn't pan out there. Anyways, sorry if I did come across as rude. It wasn't my intention.
  3. Yep, AM can play the waiting game on QB if they want...they are set for the next 3 years or so they could plug him in at a diff pos and get an immediate play maker right away. While if he came to Nebraska he can play QB and possibly start as a freshman. Herbie, NU has the exact same situation as A&M does with regards to QB. Quite frankly, I feel NU's QB situation is better than A&M's right now. Ganz will start this year followed by Lee for the next two years. Just like McGee will start for the Aggies this year with Jerrod Johnson for the two after that. Did you even think of that? And I don't think I would mind a guy like Cody Green playing a Bobby Newcombe type roll where he can play more than one position including QB. Personally, I would like to get him on the field ASAP either at QB or WR. And if it's not QB, he can play a little WR while he is waiting his turn at QB. His chances of starting at NU as a freshman are no better than they are at A&M. Plus, who really wants a kid to come in a start from day 1 anyway? You want a kid to know the system before he starts getting alot of live snaps.

  5. You make it sound like NU is "Wide Reciever U". Besides, we are filling those holes. Currently we have 4-5 guys committed who project to be WR's and DB's. Not to mention a few more expected to come on board shorty. Most notably, Uzoma Nwachukwu, a 4* WR from Allen, Texas who we lead for.
  6. Herbie, did you read any of my post regarding the depth chart? Cody would likely redshirt freshman year which would be Jerrod Johnson's junior year. He would then likely sit out his RS freshman year for Jerrod Johnson's senior year. That would leave him three years to start. Besides, Johnson is not exactly proven at QB either. Great athlete yes. Proven QB, far from it. Cody could beat him out. The situation at A&M is no different than it is at NU with Zach Lee there.
  7. Both schools are recruiting him as a QB first and foremost, and you can bet both schools will move him to a WR if he doesn't pan out there. The reason I know we are putting stock in him as a QB is simple. Just look at the offers. Oddly enough, our offer list at QB looks almost identical. Our first QB we put all our eggs in was for Russell Shepard. Vince Young reincarnated from Houston who committed to LSU months back. We were second in the running for him. The one drop-back QB we have been recruiting is Ryan Mossakowski (Frisco, Texas) The others are dual threat guys: -Cody Green (TX) -Tyrik Rollison (TX) -Tate Forcier (CA) Also, of all the QB's I have mentioned, we have recruited Green the hardest. Not to mention the fact he has had a schollie offer MUCH LONGER than any of the other guys on our board. Fran was recruiting Cody really hard and when Coach Sherman came under the helm, he picked up right where Fran left off. To give you another example of how fondly we thought of Green, Ryan Mossakowski came and visited Aggieland a few months back and wasn't even offered on the spot. The offer didn't come for several days. You'd think if we were recruiting other guys harder, guys like Moss would have recieved an offer upon entering Sherman's office. Another reason is this that is one of the deepest years, if not THE, deepest year for quarterbacks in Texas history and we passed up on ALOT of them.

  9. First off, Just curious but what rivals site are you referring to? The A&M rivals site says otherwise. Not to mention the rest of my sources. Second of all, I'm sorry but the "playing a different position at A&M" statement is plain false. The depth chart at Texas A&M for when Cody would step on campus at A&M would be as follows (so fall '09): -Current starter Stephen McGee will have graduated. -Starter: 6'6'' 230lb dual threat RS Junior Jerrod Johnson would likely be the starter. -2nd string and below would comprise of 2 other guys (none near Cody's calibur) -RS Junior Ryan Tannehill (more of a drop back guy) -RS Frosh Tommy Dorman (dual threat) The rest of the QB's on campus are walk-ons. In all likelihood, Cody would redshirt his freshman year like most QB's to learn the system. This would make Cody's RS Freshman year, Jerrod Johnson's senior year. Cody would come into A&M and be almost guaranteed to start 3 years and maybe some his RS freshman year. The thing is, Jerrod Johnson is a freak athlete (was a two-sport signee with A&M; hoops and football) and could easily be converted to a WR. Cody could, in theory, compete for the job right away and worst case scenario, still be a three year starter for the Ags.
  10. Don't take this the wrong way but may I ask, who is saying he will still end up at NU? Are they reliable sources? Alls I have heard thus far is Nebraska sources coming out in the past few days saying he was a Texas A&M commit. I tend to believe he is a silent commit and has asked everyone affiliated with Texas A&M to keep it hush hush which is the reason why the rumblings are coming out of the Nebraska camp and not A&M. and Gig 'em
  11. I agree Willie. I live in the Mecca for high school football talent and Rex stands out among everybody. I've seen the kid burn 4-star defensive backs.
  12. What is bigger than NU ??????????????????? I don't really get that quote either. NU would be a GREAT fit for Forcier.
  13. I wouldn't exactly say he's a goner just yet, hskrnokc. As you know the recruiting game is a funny thing. IMO it doesn't look great for the Huskers as of right now but I don't think it looks all that bad either. Afterall, he did come away very impressed by NU. Quite honestly, I am impressed NU made the impression on him that it did. For the longest time (dating back to last year) it seemed like a foregone conclusion that Texas A&M would be the only place for Cody Green. It will definately be bitter sweet for me no matter who he chooses. And if he chooses A&M, I'm really pulling for Mossakowski to pull the trigger with the 'skers. I wish yall the best with recruiting. I can't wait for the Huskers to be back in the running for a national title again and it starts with recruiting. and Gig 'em Aggies
  14. i am going to say NU based on what I have heard Haha. Hey landlord, ya know, it wouldn't surprise me. Just when you think you know what's going to happen BOOM, a kid does a 180 on ya. I'm just going on a source that is very RARELY wrong. Especially when it comes to recruiting. Alls I know is I'm going to be happy either way. Cody is extremely talented and will no doubt help the Ags or 'Skers reach some great heights. With regards to Cody's quotes about Nebraska...it doesn't surprise me that he came away impressed. If you're a football player and can't get impressed by what NU has to offer then well, you probably shouldn't be playing football. The only place I can even compare to NU as far as atmosphere goes is my alma mater, Texas A&M. The two best fan bases in the country bar none. While we definately don't share the same football success as Nebraska, the atmosphere and fans make Texas A&M a very special place to be on Saturdays and the folks on here that have made the journey to College Station will no doubt attest to that. I'll say one thing though. I don't really buy into quotes that much. Kids come away from campuses all the time blown away. Especially when they go to NU. A&M is the same way. Kids come and get blown away by the atmosphere of Kyle Field. Another thing I'll say is Cody said pretty much the same thing about A&M as he did about Nebraska. Cody has also been to College Station a number of times dating all the way back to his sophomore season. Until a kid says someone is their leader, I take it all with a grain of salt. I have heard that the race is close but if it all ended today, A&M would be it. I think A&M weathered the storm by having Cody come away from Nebraska uncommitted and giving him more time to think and compare the two schools.
  15. What's the latest on Rex? Any of yall know? I would LOVE to see this guy in red. Kid is a S-T-U-D. I'm from Plano and have seen Rex play alot. For yall that don't know, Plano is one of the most heralded HS programs in Texas history and he is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, player I've seen come through there in my 20+ years of watching Wildcat football. That says alot about this kid. The rivals 3* ranking is a joke. The kid is a serious PLAYMAKER. Think Wes Welker.
  16. Thanks BigRedIowan! It's great to be here. I'll definately be around alot. In case you didn't know though, Cody Green is a December graduate and will be availiable to TAMU or NU for spring drills. So technically, signing day is moot for him. Also, all signs are pointing to him making a decision in the next week. If I had to make a prediction though, it seems as though it will be Texas A&M. Just going by what I've heard. He wants his family to see him play and Dayton is not too far from College Station. Not to mention he wants to study Ag. It just seems like the perfect fit. Like I said, I'll be happy either way.
  17. Howdy guys. First off, let me introduce myself by saying I am a Texas A&M graduate but have been a lifelong Husker fan due to the long lines of ties I have to the university. Both my parents are NU grads and almost my entire extended family resides in Big Red country. I love both universities very much. I'll also add that some of the best times of my life revolved around watching Tommie, Brook, Frost and the like during the early to late 90's. I miss those times. Hopefully they return soon. I feel confident Mr. Pelini will get it done. I just wanted to get that out of the way so you guys don't take me as a troll or anything. With regards to Cody Green... To me, it seems one of us (Nebraska or Texas A&M) is getting some wool pulled over our eyes in some sort of way. There has to be wrong information going around on one of the sides. From reading the posts on here, many feel Cody Green is "N". In Aggieland, most people feel he is still ours and not worried about it in the least bit. One of the posters here said we might be recruiting him as an athlete. This goes against everything I have heard. We are definately recruiting him as a QB. Either way, this is one recruit I'll be happy with no matter who he chooses. Go Big Red and Gig 'em Ags!
