while at work i was wondering the same exact thing and found that the "hokies" came somehow from a cheer when they were the fighting gobblers... I am from Nebraska and now live in Virginia and its funny to me how they look at me like i'm the wierdo with the wierd mascot... the people here are giving us no shot and think that nebraska is going to be a patsy non-conference game and it should be a nice break until conference play...the acc is such a great conference this year...let me tell ya

I think that the guys need to realize that they play for a team that used to have defenses that made men like peyton manning buckle and cry like a school girl. I know guys that earned blackshirts in the 90's and they told me that coaches Osborne and McBride had to call practices over early because the guys were playing too physical and they didn't want our guys hurting our own guys. We need to have a unit of assassins so aggressive and violent on that field that NOBODY wants to share that field with them. These men need to be tenacious and have a killer instinct like the units of the 90's. Guys like Wistrom and Peter and Tomich and Vanden Bosch need to give these guys a lesson on what it is to BE a blackshirt. There should be no doubt that this defensive unit is a brotherhood of the most bad @#$ dudes that walk the earth. I want to see some crushing hits and more guys flying around the ball before they're "rewarded" with the blackshirt. I forgot who said it but that blackshirt should be like a ranger tabs or the SEAL trident.... only handed out to those deserving to wear it BRING ON TECH...

whats up with these guys playin sloppy? the stupid penalties need to stop and pelini needs to start getting in the face of these guys. it sounds like they don't know what they're doing out there today

To all VIRGINIA HUSKERS.... in virginia beach AJ GATORS said that they play husker games... maybe i'm telling you guys something that you already know, but my awesome wife called around and said that they would be showing many of the Nebraska football games. ... im me and let me know whats up if this is where you guys go

I live out of state and was unable to get to a bar covering the game and would love to see some of the highlights from the game, especially the entrance with those former players and coaches... I know by game time next week someone will have one done... GBR

I like the uni's I think the road jersey's looks sharp... but once again what is wrong with out uni's and why would you want to change our uniforms... if anythink we need to get back to the mid 90's uniform ..... i don't know i know we're the big red but i think that is too much red the all white uniform against colorado last year made me wanna puke... and all red .

I was watching ESPN U this morning and the crew seems to think that it's not that far out that Josh Freeman could come out and have first overall draft pick talent this year. Ron Prince is quoted as saying Josh Freeman will be the number one overall pick in the 2009 draft. I don't know about you guys but I haven't been really all that impressed with this kid. Yea he's big and can the ball a little but i still don't think that he's number one talent...what do you guys think

This year I got an authentic game worn jersey as a wedding present from a good friend... so i plan on wearing that for games this year... I'm liking benny chico's idea of a nice Nebraska polo for work though...

My life before last year my husker saturdays involved waking up early usually playing hail varsity and sirius until the entire house was up then going to the game and gettting hammered drunk afterwords... nobody likes the drunk guy in the stands... Within the last year I joined the Navy and missed the first 6 games to bootcamp and heard about the remaining games...EAST COAST shows no love to the Huskers and only saw the misery game and the games against CU and K-state... This year i predict that my saturdays will be waking up early to catch gameday, telling the wife i ordered the game on pay per view and then watching as our huskers Dominate. It really sucks being out here in Virginia, if there is anyone else around here in VA BEACH give me a shout out... GBR

I just hope to GOD that this confidence carries into the VA Tech game. I live out here in Virginia and can't stand seeing all of this orange and maroon around here. I think that if we make it through Va Tech it's going to turn out to be a pretty good year.
