  1. I have said a number on time on this board that exact same thing. I even said (almost got sick there) that KU should be the favorite based on what they return. I just wont sit here and take a jab about how MU is going down based on what we lose when NU loses just as much if not more. Look at the quality of talent MU is losing next year. Think about it real had, and then tell me NU is losing just as much, if not more. NU loses some experience on offense, but they seem to be gaining athleticism. And I'd take the Nebraska defensive line over anybody's in the North. And like I said, the corners and safeties have nowhere to go but up right now. Nobody said NE is losing as much talent as Mizzou. Let's just say for the point of discussion that Mizzou will lose more between now and next season. In absolute terms, I think they will. That said, I still think think this year's squad is good enough to survive a significant loss and still remain competitive in the North. Not dominant, but competitive. On the other hand, Nebraska is not in a position to weather anything more than a minimal loss of talent. In other words, a $5 loss for a man with $50 to his name hurts a lot more than a $1000 loss for a millionaire. That's not to say that Mizzou has a top-flight football program, 'cause they don't. We had our chance to show some chops against Okie Lite and UT but didn't get it done. While I'm still very bitter about those losses, I'm hoping they'll step up over the course of these next three games and show me something I still haven't seen this season - true character and resilience against a quality team. I'd also like to respectfully remind everyone here that when it comes to the North, MU's the only show in town right now. Next season might be a different story, but these last two seasons have been ours. I personally don't think that's saying much, as the North is down. Way down. And though you might think the Huskers are now or will soon be in a position to challenge us, the fact is you got your pants pulled down around your ankles on October 4th, on national TV no less. You're going to have to wait until next year to show that things have changed. Speculation is folly. There's no point in talking about a re-match. Anymore than there's any point in talking about a fifth down in 1990, or 'the kick' of 1997. It's done, it's over. The future is all that matters. If there's one thing I've learned as a Mizzou grad, it's how to accept reality. Brutal as it can sometimes be. I just wish the melvins among you could be as objective about your school's program as I try to be about mine. A lot of you are, but the homers need to either step away from the keyboard or get a clue. It'd make for much more interesting reading. Peace out...
  2. You know you're right Cy! NU would beat us in a re-match and ISU actually beat us this past Saturday, scoreboards be damned. Ludicrous. IOWA = Idiots Out Walking Around
  3. Are you guys serious? A mediocre (at best) KU team gave your guys all they wanted in your own back yard. You slapped around a terrible Iowa State team and beat up on a K-State team that's effectively headless and now you're dreaming of a re-match with Mizzou and Oklahoma? Put down the crack pipe. While Mizzou is by no means an elite power, with obvious weaknesses to boot, there's no way Nebraska has covered enough ground this year to significantly change the outcome of a hypothetical re-match with the Tigers. That would require over five touchdown's worth of progress in six weeks in order to win a second game. A margin of victory that was earned in Lincoln no less. And don't forget that Pinkel took his foot off the gas too. We could have easily hung 70 on you. I believe that Mizzou would still beat Nebraska's best game by at least 2-3 TDs. Not a rout by any means, but decisive nevertheless. OU would smoke you guys just 'cause, well, they're OU and you're Nebraska. Why on earth would you want to put your team on the field with them again? Did you not see the same game that I saw? If it makes you feel any better, all bets are off for next year's MU-NU matchup. Bo seems to have your team headed in the right direction and I don't know how dramatic the dropoff's going to be once this class of seniors graduates. I think it could go either way, with neither team getting a blowout.
  4. Fake FG for a 1st down. Man Bo's really going after it. Awesome. GBR!!!
  5. Winner-winner, chicken dinner. Umm, that chicken would of the red and blue variety...
  6. How can it not matter? It's really the ONLY thing that does matter until the next time they lace 'em up. And let's not pretend that you wouldn't be pointing to the scoreboard had things turned out in your favor. I look forward to another year of bragging rights...

Hottest selling T-shirt in Lowrents: "My coach can eat your coach."
  8. Careful there Beaker. Your first sentence conveys real arrogance, and no small amount of ignorance. The two could combine for your downfall, and boy would that make me happy... This NU team is perfectly capable of giving the Jayhoax all they want, and then some. Remember what they did against Texas Tech, at Lubbock no less. Okay, so you had a one-in-a-million scorefest in Low-Rents last year, but this year you're playing in Lincoln. If Husker Nation shows up (and you know they will), and the team shows up (I'm betting they will), your fan base just might have to put down their caviar and champagne and actually start paying attention. The game's called football. It's played with this oblong leather thingy... To the Husker faithful: Why didn't any of you call this clown out? You going to let him write something like that on your board without answering in some way?

Pelini's thinking win... Mangino's thinking Arbys! Holy cow, c'mon guys, you HAVE to win this game! God I hate the Jayhawks... I plan to make the trip from Papillion with a brand-new Nebraska hat on my head and a Mizzou sweatshirt on my back, all for the privilege of cheering on Big Red against those heathens from Low-Rents. Gotta confront the enemy wherever you find them... Remember what these charlatans did to you last year. It's time to get some payback, don't you think? KU's defense is suspect, and their secondary is downright weak. I like your chances as long as Ganz can roll out of the pocket and the Husker faithful keep their pipes going for the duration. Reesing chokes in tight games (specialty? the untimely INT), so if you're D can keep it close, the door is open. If things get really sporty, have some pizzas delivered to the KU sideline. A surefire way to take the coach out of the game... Go Huskers!!!
  10. Give it a rest man. The open-mouthed kisses you're blowing to these folks are not only disgusting, they're patronizing. I live in Nebraska, follow this board, and have developed a great respect and fondness for the citizens of this state. They know what they're about, and they know better than anybody what NU football represents. Neither they nor their football program needs to be validated by you or anyone else. Go back to Okie-homey and prepare for your next bowl choke job. You gotta love those Mountaineers... Your just mad because you almost lost to baylor You're right. I'm not at all happy with my team right now - who knows what the future will bring? I'm not assuming anything. Going back to the original topic - beware of Greeks bearing gifts. A troll is a troll, even if they're wearing lipstick and heels.

  12. We showed up and competed against similar talent. We lost too, but not like the great fold you saw in Austin, just for the record. Typical KU/Low-Rents/Johnson County attitude, always thinking you're better than everyone else for some imagined reason. Get a clue... My Tigers will crush your Jayhawks and you know it, unless Reesing's untimely INTs beat us to the punch. See you at Arrowhead... Actually, I'll see you at Lincoln first, as I plan to be there when the Huskers put your lame team in its place, cheering them on the whole way. I should be easy to find, I'll be the guy in a Mizzou sweatshirt and Husker ball cap.
  13. as the mizzo posters we have over here are nice i won't be a dick, in all honesty i thought what really screwed you was that first play you had, it put you guys so far behind the 8 ball and with the insuing drive from texas i wonder if it was a "here we go again" moment for the tigers. I completely, absolutely agree with you. One-thousand percent. That first play call on our first possession is really haunting me. It got us off to a horrible start, and I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say its effects were felt for the rest of the first half. Stupid, stupid, stupid call...
  14. Well we certainly got it handed to us tonight. Are we a good team? I still think so. Are we an elite team? Absolutely not. I'm trying to figure out what percentage of this debacle was due to pure talent differential, deficiencies in coaching/preparation, and fallout from last week's loss to OSU. I imagine it's some combination of all three, I just don't know in what proportions. Although I'm very disappointed, I'm not angry at Pinkel or anybody else. Some of the plays called on offense upset me, but what am I gonna do? A lot of my fellow fans are saying they've been conned, but I don't think coaches work that way. They win when they can, and everyone else interprets it. Misjudging the talent of a team is a risk we all take. It's also part of the fun of it. I just hope the guys bounce back and play hard, maintaining their dignity along the way. That's all I can ask for as a fan. Nothing more, nothing less. Thanks for the space. I figured I should check in with you guys when we're down as well as when we're up. TrueMizzou out...
  15. Sounded like a backhanded comment there. In otherwords if Nebraksa would of beat Texas Tech the story would have been about how they overlooked Nebraska? Whatever man...
  16. Hats off to OSU, they beat us fair and square. Their defense played lights out. It wasn't Daniel's best effort, but I'm not going to dwell on that as I don't want to take away from what the Pokes' D did tonight. Those guys came to play, on both sides of the ball. Ironically, it wasn't our D that cost us this game. They actually kept us in it. It was our offense that let it slip away. No excuses. No rants. We just got beat by a team that outplayed us tonight. Great effort at Texas Tech by the way. I think those guys were looking past you. I wish you would have made them pay.
  17. Typical Texan. Big words, big banners, and big predictions. In my experience, I've found most Texans to be all hat and no cowboy. October 18th awaits my friend. Show me... maybe both of you should focus on winning the big 12 first. Last time i checked OU is better than both your teams. Oh, a Jayhawk fan inserting himself into a conversation about football... Does your school have a team?
  18. Re-read your own post and then look up the term "sportsmanship" and see how things line up. Missouri is not our enemy. They are a neighboring state with fine people, fine fans, a very good University (just like NU) who happens to have a much better football program than us right now. Missouri did not run up the score against us. They held back --- they easily could have hit 70 pts on us. They showed some restraint. Thankfully --- I am not so sure that TTech will be so kind. If ever NU gets to the point where they are superior to MU and can run it up on them I hope that they do not. This notion that anyone who beats NU is evil is just wrong. Were we evil when we were beating everyone? When we used to pound the others were they somehow Ok but now they have degraded into bad guys just because their football program is currently superior to ours? Now that everyone is beating us, are all these other guys all of a sudden evil? As for when Missouri plays Oklahoma --- I'll pull for Missouri, why not, their fans have never (I don't think anyway) had a championship before and OU has had tons --- so if it can't be us then why not Missouri or some other program that has not had the privilege of being on top before. A tip of the hat to you sir...
  19. Fair enough. Apologies for the double-post...
  20. Wow. After 5 games you've got us all figured out. Good for you. What were you saying about Pinkel after his first couple years? I made no mention of you or your fellow fans. My post was about Pelini. To answer your question, I wanted Pinkel to go after the 2004 season. I went back to Columbia for the MU-KU game, and saw a listless and completely unmotivated Mizzou team lose to the Jayhawks. However, in 2005, Pinkel started to change his style of coaching, taking a more collaborative approach with his older players and becoming less rigid overall. I think a lot of this was precipitated by the death of Aaron O'Neal that previous summer. Had he stayed in the same mode he started with, I doubt things would have gotten much better. But he changed himself, and after that everything else followed. In retrospect, one thing I've always liked about him is his unassuming manner. Missourians detest loudmouths and showboats, and he seems to understand that. Hard for me to understand how you guys can't see your young coach's shortcomings. I'm not saying he's a write-off, but I do think your recovery will take longer than necessary as long as his antics continue. It's your team though... Still... Why didn't you guys hire Turner Gill? His team played a heckuva game against us. In our own back yard no less...

  22. C'mon guys. Even though you're Nebraska fans, and I'm a Mizzou fan, we're all midwesterners, right? We know you gotta call it like you see it... Was it Pelini's intent to be disrespectful towards Chase ('I don't know that he's the best I've seen...') or Mizzou's offense (shutout comment)? Let's go ahead and say 'no.' But were they wise things to say given the current status of the two programs? I don't think so. Did anything that comes even close to those notions need to be implied by a guy who's leading a team that is in desperate need of some confidence? Heck no! The worst thing a coach can do - the absolute worst thing he can do - is make things things tougher for his team. Pelini and his staff have already done that, hurting your team in two different games. He did it with his personal foul in the VT game, he did it with his ambiguous comments last week, and his defensive coordinator did it as he giggled out loud about his super-secret defensive scheme ('We were ready by Tuesday...'). There was one time during the game that I saw Bo just totally berating one of your players. The kid was shrinking back, as if he thought Pelini was going to slug him. The capper was when Brother Pelini rolled in to get his pound of flesh too. It happened folks, I saw it. What's wrong with this guy?! And what is his agenda? Is it about Nebraska football? Or is it about Bo? Do you think there might be any correlation between Pelini's lack of personal discipline and the team's lack of discipline on the field? Or the spitting allegations? That has nothing to do with Callahan's tenure, or with the players he left behind. The post-game press conference he gave was unbelievable. Literally. He came off as being totally phony to me, like a guy who knows he's screwing up and is already worrying about his job. It was a contrived performance, and you guys swallowed it all. The ball cap that points straight up, the giant wad of gum, the plumber's sweatshirt... This guy's a joke, a caricature of a big-time coach, and everybody in the Big-12 sees it but you. Of all the problems your program has to face, the most pressing one is the coach you have now. He's out of control. You're all great guys, and I love reading your posts. But your inability to see this Bo-foonery amazes me. I know it sucks to think this guy might be another miss, but geez. I guess he could still end up being a great coach, but only if he changes himself first. He's just a loose cannon, a clown with a big 'N' on his chest. Great for us I suppose, but not so good for Husker Nation... One question: Why didn't you hire Turner Gill?! Asbestos suit now donned...
