  1. Idaho Huskers meet at a bar named Beef O'Brady's in Meridian, Idaho near Boise. It's also the bar used by Ohio State fans. When games are on at the same time, we're segregated to one side of the bar while OS is on the other. You'll be watching a game and all of a sudden hear a bunch of people cheer at the wrong times. It's bizarre. Before Beef O'Brady's it was at Hooters in Boise, but they closed down. I've come home to find out that the Hooters in Omaha where I used to watch games has also closed down. I guess the company isn't doing so well.
  2. Wow, that video is over 300K views. I remember uploading it because I was so pissed that the refs screwed us over on that call. Yeah, that call was an outrage.
  3. They show Nebraska's fumblerooskie in this video at 8:02. However, I recommend watching the whole video because the bizarre plays by other teams are also worth seeing, including Prebyterian's version of the bouncerooskie.
  4. I spent 4 years living near Boise, Idaho and decided to move back to Omaha. I met some cool people in Idaho, but it's great to be back home. In Idaho I belonged to a club named Idaho Huskers. Nebraska fans met for every game in a pub to cheer on our team together. It was a little like bringing a piece of home there. Even so, it's great to be back.
  5. Like I said, I thought we were already up by 2 and so did some others. My bad. Just close the thread.
  6. I just looked up the score. You're right. Must have had too much beer. Never mind. Just close this thread.
  7. Okay, now that I'm coming down from the high of this dramatic win, I can bring this up. After we scored the winning TD and then missed the two-point conversion, I was really biting my nails. That meant we had a two-point lead instead of the three-point one we would have had if we had kicked the extra point. In other words, Michigan State could win the game with just a field goal if they could have gotten down the field far enough to get within range. If we had been up by three points, they could only have sent the game into OT with a field goal. I watched this game at Beef O Brady's in Meridian, Idaho with the Idaho Huskers club. Many of the other fans felt the same way I did. We were screaming for the team to kick the extra point instead of trying the two pointer. I'm curious if other fans back in Nebraska and around the country thought the same thing, that we should have kicked the extra point. I'm delighted that we won, and it doesn't matter that it was by 2 points instead of by 3, but for a while there I was crapping my pants afraid of yet another disaster.
  8. I'm going to wait and see what happens. There's not a single one of us here who can look into a crystal ball and know for sure what will happen. Maybe this guy can build a great team.
  9. Nice animated gif. I have a cousin who actually did that in his workplace. They fired him for it. Not sure why.
  10. Maybe you should go root for that team Exactly. No true fan would hope for Nebraska to get whipped under any circumstances. Now, as to the first post -- there's a huge difference between hating someone versus thinking he's not the right man for the job. No one can ever legitimately claim that Bo did not give it his full, honest effort. He did that, and it brought the team winning seasons, but also big blowout losses to ranked teams. He did not bring us anywhere near a national championship, and that's the goal. I personally think it was time to part ways, and I will wish him well, thank you very much.
  11. Have you seen the Arizona Cardinals play? They stuff the run play after play and get interceptions. They even stuffed the run against the best O-line in the NFL, the Cowboys. They've been winning with a backup QB and an offense that produces not that many points. The architect of this stifling defense is Todd Bowles. I wonder if he could be coaxed away from the NFL to be the Nebraska head coach. There may be competition from NFL teams to make him a HC, so getting him may be tough. But I believe you start with defense and Bowles could make things happen in Nebraska. He's not another Callahan. I'm open to other ideas. We need someone who builds a disciplined team that fires on all cylinders. No excuses. Control the line of scrimmage, get first downs by smashing mouth and running the ball, controlling time of possession. Force turnovers on defense, pressure the QB, rattle'em to make him throw picks. All that great stuff that makes a championship team and none of that cute BS. Maybe Todd Bowles. Maybe someone like him.
  12. I think I'll wait till tomorrow to read any game summaries. Sheezus. Bo is so outa here.
  13. Let me guess. They ran down our throats? We turned the ball over? Those are my best guesses.
  14. I missed the game because I was in excruciating pain with a migraine headache. Man, am I ever lucky.
  15. ^^^^ Perfect image to express how I feel. Sheesh.
  16. Fire Bo if someone who has a good shot at being better is lined up. Don't fire him just to replace him with a wild guess. There has to be someone qualified. This program is about going after national titles. I don't think any legitimate Husker fan would ever be satisfied at making it to the Huggies Baby Wipe Bowl.
  17. Talk about getting your hopes up. I was screaming for this team as we were kicking big, bad Wisconsin's butt. We were getting turnovers. We were running the ball. We were up 17 to 3. What could go wrong? Am I the only sucker here who was getting all excited that this Pelini-led team had finally turned the corner? It looked like we finally had a team that could compete for a national title and then everything just imploded. We could not stop the run out to the Badger's right side. The offense sputtered; we could not sustain drives. We started turning it over and eventually lost the turnover battle. We've seen this before, but the hope in me made me want to believe. I'm such a sucker thinking we had finally arrived.
  18. I think that is his major weakness right now. When we start playing better defenses those balls won't be dropped. It's weird though, on one play he'll drop one right into our WRs arms running in stride, then on the next play he'll throw it straight at the CB. To his credit, Tommy usually makes good decisions on the read option and triple option. Usually. And he is a legit threat to run the ball on any play. DBs and LBs can't ignore him. He'll make them pay. Yes, he had that disastrous pick 6 that turned the game around in McNeese's favor. Then there were those 4 errant throws that could have also been picks. On many of those, his receiver bailed him out, acting as a defender and preventing the McNeese player from catching the ball. Armstrong is aptly named. He has a cannon for an arm. Now he needs to work on the fundamentals of not making errant throws.
  19. Now the NFL is drafting college players. I don't think Taylor Martinez will be drafted, but I could be wrong. He could sign as a free agent, but not many free agent QBs make it in the NFL. Kurt Warner and Tony Romo have, but they're the exception. I suspect Martinez will end up playing in the Arena League or in the CFL.
  20. He coached the Oakland Raiders to win an AFC Championship. He has dramatically improved the Dallas Cowboys offensive line. The guy does have some football knowledge an abilities. He just wasn't the right fit for Nebraska.
  21. Yeah, you've got to be able to win without putting it all on the kicker. That's for certain. However, the reality is if you don't have a good kicker, you're at a disadvantage. That missed extra point really came back to haunt them. Because of that, we were able to tie the game with a field goal instead of being down by 4 points and needing a TD. Then they were spotted 4 points. I mean, seriously, that personal foul call that negated the TD was about as bogus a call as I've ever seen.
  22. I couldn't help but notice the Penn State kicker has an unusual last name. It's the F word in German! ROFLMAO! Then when he missed that very makable field goal in OT that might have won the game (if their D held), I said, "Well, he ####ed up."
  23. Is it just me or have refs been missing blatant and obvious pass interference calls this year? It hasn't just been this game. Today one of our drives stalled on 3rd down when the defender started out with a facemask and then had hands all over the guy and eventually knocked him down. It was obvious PI and I couldn't believe no flag was thrown. It wasn't just this game either. I've been seeing this all year. I can't think of another year when such obvious examples of PI have not been called. I can understand the refs missing a quick push-off that happens in a microsecond, but these have been hands all over like a horny teenager cases.
  24. I'm not making excuses for the team's crappy play today, but they're not the only ones who did a lousy job. The refs missed several BLATANT pass interference calls by Minnesota. I don't mean minor touches either. Several times the Gopher player was all over our receiver long before the ball got there. Does a DB have to actually tackle the receiver in advance to get called for PI? Sheesh. They also missed a late hit out of bounds. I'm not talking about the one where the ref threw a flag and picked it up. On that one, the player already had inertia carrying him into him. It was before then there was a blatant late hit out of bounds that the refs missed.
