  1. Nobody refers to Nebraska fans as classy anymore except Nebraska fans so what is your point? I've seen it myself several times this year already. They weren't so classy against Texas...get behind early in this game and the fans' true colors will keep coming out. Nebraska's "classy fan" farse was built in the days when you were blowing teams out by 60. A lot easier to act classy when you still feel like you're better than any other team...but when you're just another team, I don't see a difference between Nebraska fans and anybody else. This is all Mizzou, and several other Big XII fanbases, have to hang their proverbial hat on right now, it seems like. If you worried so much about this, then your priorities are skewed. This may be why your team has been getting it handed to them for the better part of a half century. I was a lifelong Mizzou fan til recent years when a close friend decided to attend Nebraska to play football (broke my heart at the time til i took some time to get to know the school/traditions/history). Now i have become a husker fan, but still respect what Pinkel and the tigers are doing over in columbia. I also attended the Texas game in lincoln this year and the fans were nothing but nice to the fans from texas. Before and after the game (with the exception of a few drunken idiots) the Longhorn fans were made to feel welcome. The only thing i could see as coming off as "not classy" would be the instances when the fans booed the opposing players who were hurt and getting assistance off the field. Now i know many were upset that they thought they were trying to slow the no huddle attack when our offense finally got going (which they could have been), but i definitely was surprised to hear boos from the crowd and thought it was kind of ridiculous. I will be in attendance again this weekend and expect to see a great, hard fought game from both sides with nebraska pulling out a close one in the end. GO BIG RED!!
  2. We had an interesting situation happen by us. It was a group of fans, mostly husker fans with a couple of mizzou fans all sitting together. Nothing bad going on, seemed like friends just razzing each other through the game. No derogatory comments whatsoever. The mizzou fans actually were pretty nice guys, talked to one of them a little bit at halftime. Well i guess the group had snuck in a little alcohol, as a lot of students do, and had mixed it with the soda they had purchased. Well about the end of the third quarter a couple police officers came up and asked the Mizzou fans for their drinks. The kids didnt create a scene at all and cooperated with the police fully from what i saw. The officers said that some fans had notified them that they had alcohol. I just thought it was interesting that the entire group was drinking, yet the only ones taken away were the Mizzou fans. Didn't seem right to me, especially because they were not obnoxious or anything. Overall though i had a great experience in lincoln, talked to a lot of fans after the game and they were all great!! I will definitely be making a trip back!
  3. I just wanted to say From what I have seen so far you husker fans are great. This will be my second trip to lincoln this weekend, also traveling form Jefferson City Mo, and so far every husker fan i have come across has been very friendly. I mean seriously, posting a tailgate like this and inviting everyone? that is outstanding. Ive been a Mizzou fan for years, but have been put in a predicament by a friend deciding to play for the huskers. Can't really say I have changed my allegiance quite yet, i mean after cheering for a bad team for 15 years you can't bail on them when they are finally good, but you guys will definitely make it much easier to do! Im definitely looking forward to the game this weekend and hope to run into some of you guys!! MIZ-GBR! Does that even work?
  4. Is that just in total yards though? That is what i was trying to take out of consideration since Mizzou's defense is on the field much more than most. I think they had run close to 50 more defensive plays this year than most teams due to the fact that their offense scores so fast.
  5. ....I'm pretty sure MU is last in the Big XII in total D. And considering their schedule so far, that's kinda pathetic. ...i'm pretty sure Illinios would rock NU and that Nevada would give you a run. What I'm most sure about though is that MU's starters came out with 7 mins remaining in the SECOND quarter against SEMO and with 9 mins left in the THIRD against Nevada. Lets look at those rankings again after conference and when our 3rd stringers are not playing half the game. BTW, San Jose, New Mexico St, Directional Mich. and the 112th ranked VT offenses are not exactly power packed.. pretty pathetic that Taylor almost equalled his previous three games against NU. PS. go look at Daniel's stats and THEN remember that is really only 3 games worth of playing time. Just an interesting stat for those comparing defenses. Mizzou is ranked 38th in the country in yards allowed per play, whereas Nebraska currently ranks 51st. Now we can take into account the fact that Mizzou has played some lesser teams, SEMO for example, who should have helped them pad that stat even more, but after checking a few more stats, the average ranking of offenses that Mizzou has played (placing SEMO at 175, 55th in FCS) is 64 and the avg ranking of offense that Nebraska has played is 75.5. Now i know some of you will say that the reason there is a descrepency in the rankings is that Nebraskas defense is better, therefore the teams they have played will be ranked lower, and that is an understandable rebuttle, but I thought this was a very curious statistic considering Mizzou has supposedly 'struggled' so far this year on defense. According to these stats it is likely caused by the fact that our offense leaves them on the field the whole game! Would like to hear some other thoughts.... Husker fans, you guys are great. This will be my second trip to lincoln and i am really looking forward to it. Fans are always great and respect good football. I have been put in an interesting situation since a good friend of mine decided to become a husker. I have been a lifelong tiger fan which makes it impossible to fully turn my allegiance. So im just hoping for a great game!! MIZ/GBR
