    What started as an urge to buy new furniture has turned into a complete renovation with all new paint, flooring and appliances (and can’t forget the new sliding glass doors).  $$$

      Why, most of it has been his idea!  And, it’s taking some convincing to get my buy in (literally).  He’s now retired, young, and can do some of this himself.  :)

      We just did somewhat the same, I agreed to new wood flooring throughout the house, ended up with brand new fridge, dishwasher, double oven and washer dryer along with the wood flooring.
