These protestors have already ruined in person learning and graduation ceremonies at some schools. Now professors want to hurt kids that have nothing to do with these protests. Maybe some of these students need those grades to graduate this month. I would just fire them.

The semester is almost over, some schools are online. Just empty the campus so the protestors have no one to bother. The media should ignore them, like a little kid throwing a tantrum.

    Great....

Now the normal students with their poop in a group are going to have to protest to have the grade they earned released!

What a f**king mess that should have never gotten remotely close to this out of control.

I don't think I'd agree that the probability of a recession this year is lower. It's unlikely, but the most recent monthly jobs reports shows significant cooling in the number of jobs added per month. If the cooling continues, it's certain possible - although improbable - that the election takes place in a recession.

As for reaching Trump or other Republican voters, you really can't. These people are detached from reality. What Democrats do need to do, however, is focus less on issues that play well with elite coastal Democrats and focus more on their pro-worker, strong social programs, and positive messaging which was their foundation for decades.

They also need to stop seeming so "pro" everything that a lot folks don't relate to.  For example, Instead of going out of their way to show support for LGBTQ, rebrand it as supporting individual rights to exist and be happy as long as they aren't hurting people.  It's also okay to recognize that Christianity is the prominent religion in the USA and Dems need to be okay being vocal about how their religion shapes their philosophies.  Stop letting the GOP from being the only party that hijacks religion.  It also sounds stupid,  but it would also be helpful if Dems very publicly stated that they are strongly against "abortion after birth!!!!"....They need to realize critical thinking is a struggle for most folks and they need to stop counting on people to be able to do it...

She actually seemed very sincere and honest about it all, which I respect.  I think she is more just upset and sad...not so much angry with the suspension.

I was going to post the other day that a lot of these protesters are probably 2020 HS grads, Covid grads...What we (they) did to those kids was criminal.  I think we are seeing and will see some long lasting effects from that school shutdown.

This is such a cop out!

Arizona schools were open in fall of 2020, along with most others.  They had an extra couple months of summer.   Seniors in 2020 were most likely in senioritis mode anyway by spring break.

Quit giving kids excuses for being dumb!

Can prosecution and/or court use public pressure to get him to testify, or it considered tampering or something.

If they can, and want to, they should absolutely go far and wide letting the world know that they would loved to have his testimony.

Yes - that's my point. She was arrested for breaking the law. But it was clearly not a riot despite your claim: "If it breaks laws, it’s not a protest.  It’s a riot."

Yes, we completely agree here. I think you are missing the point. Read what I wrote again.

    I haven’t followed closely.  It’s my fault.

I assumed you were defending these idiots “protesting” on the campuses and shutting down learning only to promote antisemitism.

Rosa Parks broke the law with her protest to not give up her seat. The Greensboro sit-ins were protests where people were arrested for trespassing. Sometimes protests must break the law and that doesn't make them riots.

    And wasn’t Parks arrested?

Easier to get sympathy from the public when getting arrested for sitting on a bus going to work instead of throwing rocks and calling people racist names.

These pro-hamas protestors are the racist a$$h@!es that Parks was standing up against.  Get a clue man!

I agree with you in this case. But I think it's also important to remember that throughout history the rules and laws are often made to minimize or prevent protests, so protests not following the rules is mostly how they've had to operate. So it's somewhat a matter of if the rules Columbia has for protesting allow for real protests or not, which I think they do in this case.

If it breaks laws, it’s not a protest.  It’s a riot.

yes, there were riots along side the BLM protests.

Seinfeld co-creator Larry David has been doing just fine with Curb Your Enthusiasm for the last 20+ years. So what exactly is Jerry’s gripe? That people don’t watch 30 min network sitcoms anymore? I think that has far less to do with “the left” and waaaaay more to do with the countless streaming services and new original content that are available on demand now. People don’t consume media the same way they did in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. All in the Family, Cheers, etc were huge because they were the best of what was available at that time. If I have a choice between sitting down to watch Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, True Detective, The Sopranos or a new sitcom with George Lopez or Tim Allen recycling the same schtick from the last 40 years… it’s a no brainer.

No kidding!  Comedy is becoming MORE brash but also more specialized.  We didn't used to have options, now we do.

I’d be more worried about them shooting the person standing next to me.  Ain’t know way anyone in my building dumb enough to carry a gun could properly aim it.

I know teachers that have said they will quit teaching if this becomes a thing here in Nebraska.

I don't know if I'd quit.  Put I'd make a point to ridicule anyone in our building that does carry a gun to work.

I thought I was being cheeking in calling out how ActBlue, a Democratic PAC, is going to be bailing out these protestors.

You do know that link was not for the antisemitic protestors right?  No way you would be dishonest, right?

They are?  Meanwhile, Democrats have condemned these actions and fought to pass an aid package to Israel.  Meanwhile, Neo-Nazis are Republicans.

Some folks have to find issues in things that aren’t issues so they don’t have to admit they have issues…

Imagine thinking this is comparable to the 1960’s Civil Rights protests.

This would be much more comparable to anti-war protestors in the Vietnam era randomly shouting hate speech at white people and black people because they didn't support US troops....

    It's disgusting and nuts!

Exactly!  What kids don’t like playing in sand boxes and making Nikes?!?

Seriously, in what world is a life of poverty in the USA not a million times better than even the average lifestyle of folks in China and Afghanistan?  I’d rather take my chances of being shot in a bad US neighborhood than getting randomly bombed in the Middle East…

Well....then voters need to make a statement on this in November.

I would hope that a Trump defeat in November would allow these idiots to take of the chains.  But sadly I think Trump will be so bitter that he will hold his base as hostages and basically govern the GOP by telling his followers who to vote for...

    What, specifically, did they say?

You ever seen the “Office” episode when Holly confuses Kevin for special needs?

The speaker was probably buying @teachercd candy bars and other treats to tell him he was doing great and admin realized he was using it as an excuse to get hugs from the lady…
