American LOVE for the crown still amazes me.

I don't mean you, BRB, I just mean in general.

No s#!t!  Why the Brits even still put up with them amazes me.

This might be doable, with some sort of software

I think it would be easy.  One of our Social Studies teachers does something like this when he is talking about primary, secondary sources, etc.  He gives the kids 4 news headlines, one of them is fake.  The kids have to decide which one is the imposter.

When signing up or renewing the social media account: If you get it wrong, that email you are trying to sign up with is rejected.

Thanks for the "laugh" but I'm 100% serious.  Social media is making America (and the free world) dumber.  Just think of the "NFL is fake",  "flat earther"s, and the "birds aren't real" people. Not to mention the poison that is Q-Anon.  Just the other day I saw people freaking out because another cargo barge took out another bridge in Turkey.  People were panicking that terrorists, a.k.a "government operatives",  were responsible and were ready to take up arms against the deep state and its "new world order".  No one actually looked at the video and realized it wasn't a bridge but a crane at a port and probably won't have a huge effect.

It all most likely starts with some dumbass trying to make fun of people and it catches on like a wildfire.

Maybe a simple quiz to recognize spam or fake accounts should be required before setting up accounts or renewing them once a year.  I'm just tired of the liars taking advantage of the stupid.

Agree.  Opinions are good.  Do you care to explain why you think he’s a bad choice?   Or who would be a better choice.   Other than the age thing, which is dumb, I’ve not seen logical people give very good answers to this question.

This isn’t in response to @DevoHusker but just wanted to point out that some folks are going to “virtue signal” with a write in vote (hopefully I used that term correctly.

As it stands today, The next POTUS will either be Biden, Trump, or RFKJ.

Republicans don’t want “smaller government”. They want just the right size of government needed to give them control of it.

They’d be happy with a king if it were on their side.

OK:  Let me get this straight:

    1.  We have an 80 year old guy running for president who is known for verbal gaffs but is generally compassionate and thoughtful & understands the scope of his job.

    2.  We have an 77 year old guy running for president who is know for verbal gaffs, dementia like thinking, has a messiah complex, has 91 felony indictments against his name, is a convicted rapist and fraudster, cult leader and is generally a self-center narcistic nut job.

    3.  We have another guy running for president who is a verifiable Q'anan nut job, his extended family won't support him and his only qualification is the family name which isn't a qualification at all except in a personality centered society.

    All this begs the Question:

Why oh why can't this great country full of highly qualified people not provide a better slate of candidates?

    Beg # 2 Question:

Biden should be, even with his aging issues and some of his policy weaknesses, should be blowing this field apart in the polls.   Why isn't he?

Hopefully come Sept - we will see polls showing Biden building an insurmountable lead.  We will know it is happening when we see/hear candidate # 2 posting hundreds of 'the election is rigged' posts to Truth Social.

Well, the answer to question 2 is answered by the fact that you give American voters way too much credit in question 1.  Americans are extremely dumb, and most of the dumb ones are proud of it.

    Reasonable Pro-life.

If there a tension point where you can flip the coin - I will always choose pro-life.  I'd rather 'error' on the side of life of the baby in the womb.

I think most agree with you.  And most agree the best way to go about that is to leave those "coin flip" situation to the people involved: the family and the doctor.

It's okay to say "pro-choice".  It would make this all so much easier to handle if we stopped electing "pro-life" candidates that won't allow any grey area of "choice".

It's really a remarkably approachable business decision, as evidenced by all of the tweets and youtube videos and google results farming outrage over the easter trans visibility non-story.

I think I’d rather be a prostitute though, if I’m giving up my morality.  Sex sounds more fun.

    I agree with these:

Exceptions to state abortion bans generally fall into four general categories: to prevent the death of the pregnant person, when there is risk to the health of the pregnant person, when the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest, and when there is a lethal fetal anomaly.

    https://www.kff.org/womens-health-policy/press-release/what-are-the-exceptions-to-state-abortion-bans/

I will add:  I have know of situations where the mother did not abort the child that was a result of rape or incest.  That should be her choice - good can come out of evil.  Some people chose that possibility.  The same could be true of fetal anomalies - we have known of individuals born with great handicaps/anomalies that have gone on to live productive and in many cases inspirational lives.  Again - no one should be forced to 'chose' one way or the other.

From a practical perspective - in a pluralistic society, there will never be 100% agreement on this.  So, I think we have to look at this from a compromised position.  No side gets all that it wants.  The alternative is that we become authoritarian which is the opposite of who we are as a nation.   1.  We can either be like China where the govt dictates the one child per family policy - forced abortions or like 2. Honduras  where abortions are banned in their totality by the govt since 1985.

The gray area for me is time limits.   We've seen the draconian state laws that don't allow any abortions at all or limit them to 6 weeks.

Time limits:  I'm still torn on time limits - 6 weeks is to restrictive especially if they preclude any of the above and because - in most cases one does not know of a pregnancy until 6 weeks at the earliest.    12 weeks seems reasonable for me.

    So pro-choice.

Yup. pansies. The anchors would have a perfect forum to challenge her if they are so confident. It has to be much more difficult for a lone conservative to join a liberal network. Just ask Megan Kelly how that turned out....although she probably got 10s of millions, out of her short stint. :)

There is a very wise quote about “not arguing with idiots…”

There is zero reason to seemingly legitimize her reputation as a valid source of information.

I don’t want a day of recognition. I just want everyone to pull their head out of their a$$ and realize we are all equal and deserve to be treated with respect. Amazing that it is spelled out so clearly in the Constitution yet it is a daily chore continuing to detail who all that entails.

    Agree 100%

It’s why I have zero problems with Biden, or any POTUS, declaring a day to recognize people’s contributions who have been seen as “unequal” by many people in our society .

Isn’t it crazy that the folks who started this social media uproar are also generally the same people that claim transsexuals are abominations and that they often deserve ridicule?

Spend time with your family and thank your lucky stars that they are welcomed enough walking down the street that normal folks don’t feel the need to point out their importance to haters.

I mean, the ice cream is good and the portions are unreal but the wait...my god...the wait.

And the way they bring out the ice cream at different times!  So Timmy gets his and 10 minutes later Lauren gets hers!

It’s dumb!  I’m only saying this out loud because this is an anonymous poster board.  I tell people at work I go about once a month.

if the place was open year round, it would go out of business.  People only like it (put up with it) because it’s only open for like 5 months.

This is blasphemy, but Dairy Chef is not worth waiting in line for 45 freaking minutes!  The food sucks.

Love that this is pretty much the coldest it has ever been in March (almost April) and the Enviro-bros are all of a sudden GONE!

    Shocker.

    Dorks

If it was 80 and sunny right now...they would all have the BIGGEST erection!  GLOBAL WARMING!

The average temps in Omaha of March are 51/29.  With the exception of the several days or so, it's actually been above average.  The last few days seem so cold because it was in the 70's two weeks ago!

  19. The “red flag center” is designed to actually help states enforce their own red flag laws.  God forbid we try to actually make govt more effective and give communities the resources they need.

“Through the Center and its newly launched website, states, local governments, law enforcement, prosecutors, attorneys, judges, clinicians, victim service providers, and behavioral health and other social service providers will have direct access to critical information that will enhance their ability to reduce firearm homicides and suicides. The website will be maintained and updated to include newly developed resources for the field created through the Center, in partnership with BJA. The website also provides a platform for the Center to highlight emerging and promising practices in successful ERPO implementation and connect states and localities to innovative strategies to reduce gun violence and save lives.

As of this month, 21 states and the District of Columbia have enacted ERPO laws. Successful and effective ERPO implementation requires a comprehensive and holistic approach that incorporates a wide range of stakeholders. The Center is designed to provide resources consistent with that need.”
