    Soap Box: "Get a flu shot"... I did, and for the first time in my life, I was diagnosed with influenza A...actually thought I was dying !!! Can't imagine what would have happened without a vaccination. Have to miss the friggin game though.

      The virus does not have to be live for you to produce an antibody response. Your antibodies do not recognize whole viral cells or whole bacterial cells.
