  1. oops...my mistake, the kid is from Grandview, Mo........KC area not STL, at anyrate, i see the schedule, just hoping someone who catchs one of his games can give us some feedback..........thx hunter
  2. well, that is cry-baby Barnett's excuse........i guess they had to recruit using drugs and sex to get their guys.....i hope they get their butts beat every game they step on the field this year......cu sux hunter
  3. i am really curious/excited about Josh joining the Huskers next year...is anyone going to be able to see this kid play in the STL area this year? if so, can you give us a report after he plays a couple games? would really appreciate it.....thanks hunter
  4. good point........thanks hunter
  5. IMHO Bowman is just too valuable in the defensive secondary and not likely to go both ways, few if any players at the college level can do that.....even though the WR position maybe weak, we have some other weapons to develop and you can bet ol Cally is looking at his options right now (no, not the QB option!), knowing the WR's could be a weakness in the attack......this is where we see his coaching ability, to see him adapt his offensive strategy to fit what healthy players he has to fit into the system......it is the mark of a good coach hunter
  6. nameless, i couldn't agree with you more....my only concern is that might be asking alot to take these kids, some with only a few college snaps under their belts, and ask them to learn more than one position in 3-4 weeks of practice. true we mat noy have a choice, but i sure like the idea of most guys getting really proficient at playing one position......this may be common in the NFL, but i am not so sure it makes so much sense in the college ranks, given the limited experience some of these kids may have.....anyway, it does make for interesting possibilities hunter
  7. just a thought........you see and hear alot about players moving around, practicing in alot of different different positions, while we all know the flexibility of having guys being able to play more than one position, i sometimes wonder if the trade-off of not having enough reps at any one positon is worth it? especially with so many new guys and such a short pre-season training schedule......is this common with other teams? is it possible this philosophy may hurt the consistency we are looking for, especially on defense? is this Cally's scheme or Coz's? just looking for some thoughts on the results that may or may not come from doing this, especially getting so close to the 1st game...... hunter
  8. right on bob.......i agree, with Ross, Lucky, Jackson, Glenn we should see the 2 back set and some balls to them coming out of the backfield, fakes, draws, etc. with their speed and moves they should make alot of defenses a little nervous.... hunter
  9. maybe LP and RI could be roomates? between the 2 of them they would have all types of bad behavior covered.... hunter
  10. AR Husker Fan is right on...... everyone is excited and ready to forget last year and there is much to be excited about.......however most of these kids have not "played together" and they will need that experience to improve...we should get better as the season goes on, but that is no guarantee of not stumbling early or along the way....what i want to see, should we stumble as i expect, is how we respond afterwards, how we play the next couple games.......what kind of character does the team show, how they handle adversity will tell us alot about the future, next year and the year after when these kids should provide a solid nucleus for restoring a winning tradition! hunter
  11. will that position struggling would make any qb look poor......done, thanks again hunter
  12. ok, thanks for the explanation......anyone catch your eye, yours, that maybe an over achiever at this point? hunter
  13. so ETR, is this indicative of a lack of conditioning, maybe? or , i hate the term normal, is this really normal and in what sense? i know 2 a days are tough, but would hope there would still be crispness at this point, especially with 18-19 days of practice to go yet......more thoughts?? hunter
  14. anybody got anything else on this guy? is he leaning to ward us? i just think it would be huge to get him...... hunter
  15. speaking of qb's.........is anyone surprised that Gantz may be "heading" Beck? Don't want to start a contoversey here, know it is early in preseason practices, but I guess I thought Beck would be getting more snaps, right behind Taylor? just looking for some opinions/thoughts on who is pushing for No. 2 spot and why.... hunter

    Beck

    i agree huskerstag.........well said hunter
  17. well, he got what he wanted, bright lights and Hollywood, big games and TV coverage, don't think we can beat them next year, but 07 in Lincoln may be a diff story.... hunter
  18. anyone know what trips he canceled? sounds like it may be between WA, NU and a Cally school? obviously something happened to narrow his choices or who knows, maybe he is about to pull the trigger.....great athlete, we would love to have him... hunter
  19. Hunter94

    Beck

i don't think he redshirts either........just has alot of work to do.....i too hope he sees some playing time in games this season, but remember Taylor needs the playing time to gel as well if he is going to improve through out the year....... hunter

    Beck

i said this before practice even began, Beck is a great athlete and has excellent QB skills, but as a frosh he will not start, unless Taylor gets hurt or not until later in the season, if and when he improves alot.....as i said there are very few kids who could come in here from high school, lerarn the WCO offense which is complicated and start..........it just doesn't happen in this type off offense, give him time he will be a great QB here....... hunter
  21. ETR is correct, but they SHOULD get better through out the season, even if they loose a few, by the end of the season they SHOULD be a good football team. my only predict is this team will be better, much better, than last year's team at the end of the season.....maybe even Top 25, maybe......... hunter
  22. i think Cory will go higher in the draft than a lot of people think.....great character and ability which any NFL team could make room for........ hunter
  23. i am sure the coaches will figure all this out..based on other WR's progress and his rehab and come back.......the one thing he cannot practice, no matter how much he sees it, is the timing, so critical between receiver and qb.....that may be the real issue that puts him a little behind, but nothing that will prevent him from getting it back later, if and when we need him........... hunter
  24. beat TT, beat CU, beat CU, beat CU, beat CU.....bucking fuffaloes! i can't stand them!! hunter
  25. if anyone gets a chance to go watch this kid play this fall, would appreciate an update on this board..........thanks..... hunter
