  1. Your source? Everything I have seen has indicated that he'll play wherever the coaches want/need him.
  2. Yeah, I've seen the nike sports video at least a dozen times too. I'm not saying that he wouldn't be an outstanding running back, I'm saying that it appears the team has a greater need at the moment for safeties/db's than another running back. I guess I was trying to ask "where would Burkhead help the team the most." Anyways, I hope he is outstanding wherever he plays. Just another thread to fill the offseason...
  3. Outstanding. And you have to love a coach that is working to get raises for his assistants.
  4. I know there has been a lot of talk on various recruiting boards about where Burkhead should play. I assume there is a decent chance that he redshirts next year, so this is just a general question that might be more applicable next year. My vote: Safety. I've seen a lot of arguments that essentially say that "he is to athletic too not have the ball in his hands." I guess I'm a defensive kind of guy...I want to see some outstanding (and intelligent!) athletes out on the violent side of the ball. Also, I think that we have something of a logjam of quality running backs at the moment with Helu/Castille/Mendoza/Okafor. If he must play offense I guess I'd hope for WR or a slot back/hybrid position. Anyways. Your thoughts?
  5. You really need to come up with a better argument. Period. T_O_B i have stated my argument many times before. Frankly a rivalry is built on contest and respect, not hatred. CU is no more a rival than MU is. in fact if i had to choose i would say that MU is more of a rival. I don't think there is much respect in most college football rivalries, in fact I'd argue MOST are based on hatred. Michigan/OSU, Texas/Oklahoma, Auburn/Bama, etc...all hate each other. NU/OU was the exception that proves the rule.
  6. Sadly, I agree with you. I don't think it can be termed a rivalry if you don't play every year and Oklahoma would consider us, at best, their third rival. (behind Texas and Okie Lite) Rivalries can't be one sided or off and on. So that leaves someone in the north, and CU probably has the best history of any program in the North other than Nebraska. I mean . . . at least they stole 1 national title on a fifth down, that's more than MU/KU/KSU/ISU can say. So unfortunately, CU is probably our rival. (but I would LOVE for OU to retake the position if we could re-align the Big XII or find a way to play them every year...and not just play them...but play them COMPETITIVELY.)

  8. Ummm . . . no I wouldn't. I tend to make fun of the "get that loser off the field" people who jump on a player after a bad play/game.
  9. Awesome news! Either he loves working with Bo or he expects a better job offer than SF DC soon. Or maybe both!
  10. Would that be like . . . Led Zepplin? (and I kid, I kid. I know you meant prima donna)
  11. But from what I have heard from "so called experts" is that Lee doesnt get all of the offense either, granted Lee has had more time, but what if neither one of them gets it enough? You have to go with Spano or a walk-on, and I dont think that is likely to happen so I will stay with Lee/Green. I think NU will (if he is as good as advertised) build the team's future around Green. Our team is in sorry shape if we are talking about "buidling the team's future" around an entirely unproven true freshman. Hype and hope doesn't win football games.
  12. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? Since the year after the scoring explosion. 2) What/who led you to The Nation? I grew up in NE... 3) Where are you from originally? 13. I don't hink Green will be Pryor or Griffin. I think he'll be BETTER than both of them! IF they show patience bringing him along. And what has Griffin really proven to anyone? Yeah he is fast as hell and a pretty good athlete. But he hasn't won anything, or proven himself to be a good leader. Being an amazing athlete does not automaticaly make you a great QB. Pass me some of that kool-aid! I hope you are right...I think I just have a hard time expecting too much out of our hyped qb recruits considering the outcome of the last few...
  14. Congratulations! It's hard to think of a better reason to miss a game than that!
  15. Do you really think Joe was better than Sam? More mobile, I'll give you. But there were passes Sam made that Joe couldn't even touch. Sam was really handcuffed under Cally's system, but he and his dad probably felt it was his best chance to get to the NFL. Oh man, Oh man, I thought you where joking, when I realized you where serious, I almost blew cornflakes out my nose!!! I don't remembeer Keller ever throwing for 400+ and 7TDs. And as skilled as Keller may have been, he couldn't get the ball downfield, and never had half the heart Joe Ganz had. So YES I really think Ganz was a better QB, and I think a lot of Husker fans are to quick to dismiss his accomplishments. If the team struggles at QB in the near future, (knock on wood) then maybe folks will relize that we where blessed to have a player like Ganz. Who IMO may be the best QB NU has had in a decade. And YES that includes Heisman trophy winner Eric Crouch! Agreed. 100%.
  16. I'm curious as to why many people either expect or hope that Cody Green will be the starting quarterback next year. I think that both for his sake, and for the good of the team, it would be best for him to redshirt next year. It seems extremely difficult to walk into college as a true freshman and effectively run an offense, particularly one like Watson's that is still relatively complicated. While there are exceptions like Pryor at OSU, it seems that the majority of highly successful quarterbacks either redshirted or played only sparingly their freshmen years. For example, arguably the 3 best qb's from last year: Sam Bradford - started as a redshirt freshman. Colt Mccoy - started as a redshirt freshman. Tim Tebow - played only sparingly his freshmen season, generally in 4th and short situations. I think it's much more likely that Green follows the rule rather than the exception. Your thoughts?
  17. I hope they don't start Green. I think the team's needs would be better served by redshirting him for a year and giving him a chance to learn the system. Hopefully Lee is the QB next year, and I think that is how it will work out.
  18. "In the land of the skunks . . . the man with half a nose is KING!"
  19. Haha. btw, not to threadjack but I dig your taste in firearms. My collection has some similarities.
  20. Agreed, but it gets complicated when each person is sold a 15 inch seat and when there is no way for someone to physically fit into 15 inches. Should I be forced into an aisle because of somebodies weight problem? Theoretically, someone is going to be inconvenienced or squeezed out. Who better to bear the costs than the person responsible?
  21. I think those are cheesy as well but I'm not sure how that shows that the ribbon boards AREN'T cheesy. Oh well. Just my opinion. The game down on the field is really the only thing I care about anyways, but what else do we have to argue about in the off season anyways? Beats the heck out of studying Torts.
