  1. Somebody named Ross Watson as well who is an intern with you. Any info on him? http://my.journalstar.com/Husker_Extra_Group/Husker_Extra/blog
  2. Thank you, its been a pleasure. Wish you guys the best of luck this season except for the next 2 games. Gotta pull for my other Belt members.
  3. Hey Nebraska fans, Part of our bloggers tradition for FAU is called Demolotion Monday. It either features the Destruction of our opponents effigy if we win, OR the "destrcution" of the Howard Bobble Head Doll if we lose. So for your enjoyment here is the HBHD getting rolled by Nebraska. Video of Howard Schnelleberger getting Rolled. And below is the link if you want to read the story. FAU Sun-Sentinel Blog See we even destroy ourselves and not always a big red N.
  4. Good guys here in arkstfan and fanof49ASU. Ive known them for a while on thier board and the Belt Board. Theyll give you the straight scoop. Sorry Huskerfans, I have to pull for stAte in this one and ULL in the next. Confrence brother an all you understand. Go get em Red Wolves! Do the 'Belt proud, unlike my Owls. P.S. Watch out for SUH, guy is HUGE and FAST.
  5. Well while the Huskers scored about what I figured they would, I am SORELY dissapointed in my FAU Offense. I thought Rusty Smith looked pretty sharp and is release was quicker then last year. We left one or two opportunities pass and that was the scores I was looking for left on the field by dropped catchs. I want to thank you guys and gals for my time here. Ive enjoyed waiting for the season to start by talking with you all about the game. Best of luck in the rest of your season, and I hope we get to play each other again.
  6. I can see that, and we just dont have anything like that as of yet to get all riled up about. It will all come in time I suppose.
  7. FAU has beaten a BCS team. We beat Minnesotta (SP?) in 07. I know they werent good that year at all, but they were still a BCS team. I think about Grease as well at the Pep Rally. Yeah its corny but it also works and brings the students and players together. Remember FAU has only had a Football team for 9 years total, our success on the field is bringing the fans together and with campus life growing (FAU has only been in existence since 1962) we need things like this to grow the support.
  8. Coachs show from Boca Raton is getting ready to start. www.espn760.com for streaming. They also interviewed Tom Osborne this afternoon, and that should be in the Archives if you want to listen to that.
  9. Burning the N wasnt a big deal. The fire itself and the rally was the big deal for the students. If it had been a UAB dragon you would of seen the same thing that you saw with the N. I think thats whats got us scratching our heads, it wasnt like weve never done this before and solely targeted Nebraska, this is our tradition during the 1st week of the season.
  10. On another board that I wont mention, (starts with a R and ends in a S) they were pretty hostile about it. I dont post there because I dont like the boards and they way they make people pay to read.
  11. FAU SunSentinel Blog I truly dont understand why it would cause all the commotion. When Howard said what he said about Texas yes, I could see that. Burning an effigy and having it cause this much consternation seems ludicrous to me. An interesting read and here are some facts that put our program vs your in perspecitve. BY THE NUMBERS I guess some Husker fans were upset when FAU burned that big N. Get over it. Nothing personal. A reminder – FAU is entering its ninth season of football. NINE, as in first game played in 2001. Nebraska has a 110-year head start on the Owls. FAU is still trying to establish some traditions. It’s kind of tough when the team plays at a high school stadium a dozen miles from campus, and most of the students drive to school and live at home. Nebraska got its 100th win in 1907. Not sure if Boca Raton even existed back then. FAU has 48 wins. Nebraska has 297 straight sellouts at its stadium, while FAU has had one sellout at Lockhart. Nebraska has been to 45 bowl games, FAU to 2. Nebraska has had 28 walk-ons make it to the NFL. FAU has not had a single player in the NFL. The Nebraska sellout streak goes back to 1962, and FAU did not even exist at the time. This isn’t David versus Goliath, it is a minutes-old-baby still gooey versus Goliath.
  12. Texas, Michigan State, stAte, all had pretty good D's We are able to move the ball, the issue (especially in the Texas and Michigan St) game was finishing. In the 1st quarter of the Texas game we drove the ball into the Red Zone in our first 2 possesions, we failed to score on both. Same thing with Michigan, we had opportunities just didnt capitalize. Our OL is bigger this year, and has experience. I really think Rusty Smith will have the time he needs to throw the ball and make the play, IN THE FIRST HALF. After half time, when we get tired, is when youll start to get thru and put the pressure on.
  13. Phil Steele says: 45-17 NU wins....... "Last year prior to the opener FAU coach Schnellenberger called out Texas and he paid the price in a 52-10 loss. For the most part Howie gives all his players a lot of time in games like this to better prepare his team for the upcoming conference schedule. The Huskers have some question marks at RB heading into the year and have a first time starter at QB. FAU has just 3 starters back on defense and in their last 12 games on the road vs BCS conference schools the Owls have lost by an AVERAGE of 46-8."
  14. http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_/i...aq-picks-week-1 Non-AQ picks, Week 1 September 3, 2009 10:00 AM Posted by ESPN.com’s Graham Watson A new year, another chance to better my picks record. Last year, I started strong and faded down the stretch. This year, I'm hoping for better results, but it's a tough week to pick games. Here's where my head is at: No. 24 Nebraska 38, Florida Atlantic 24: I liked this as a potential upset before FAU’s defensive line depth was depleted. I think quarterback Rusty Smith and the Owls will hang with the Huskers early, but there’s just too much athleticism and firepower on Nebraska’s side for FAU to pull this one out. ----------------------------------------------- I think shes off on the score (add another TD for Nebraska) but other then that on target. Well hang but lose.
  15. Watch out for that damn spread that Tony Franklin runs, MTSU is new to HIS version but they have run a similar type before him. Basketball on Grass. Now now, that wasnt very nice. ;-) But thanks for the paychecks! We need em.
  16. Not a bad assesment. The more accurate picture of our team is the 2nd half. Rusty Smith was hurt for the first 5 games and it threw off his timing and accuracy. I agree on around 3 TD difference, but it wont come untill the 2nd half. Like I said in another thread Halftime score: Neb 21 FAU 14 End of game: Nebaska 41 FAU 21 The depth will win out as you sub in players while our starters get tired. stAte will be good as well, but I dont think ULL will of recoverd from the startes they lost on offense.
  17. Is there any internet streaming of this? If so please paste the link and I will put on the Owls message board. Thanks!
  18. Getting Closer Husker fans! Vuren was on the board asking if there were any interviews or archives from FAU. Here is a video interview with Coach done by fauowlaccess.com. I havent watched it (Streaming is blocked at work) so if its bad quality forgive me. FAUOWLACCESS Coach Schnellenberger interview Also the Coachs radio call in show will be this Thursday according to our blogger: This just out: FAU Sportspage Radio Show, hosted between 7 - 8 p.m., on Thursdays on ESPN760 AM. Ken LaVicka will join Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger this week at Duffy’s Boca Raton, located at 21212 St. Andrew’s Blvd., Boca Raton. Schnellenberger also will take calls throughout the show. Callers should phone 1-888-760-3776. It can be streamed at ESPN 760- Home for FAU Football and Basketball and I hope will be archived too as I wont be able to make the show.
  19. Yup, Hopefully its just for a game or two. As someone said, our Defense is not what will give us a chance at this game, its our offense and they are all healthy and back in place. I didnt think we could get much pressure on your QB in the first place, and this will just make that even less certain. Your gonna score, I have no doubts about that.
  20. Unless your O Line is like a wall of brick, I have concerns about Smith's immobility. If he can't move agilely to avoid pressure he's going to take some serious hits. Oh dont get me wrong, he has enough instincts and footwork to avoid an initial Pass rush if they get thru. His rollout is fine, and thats where he usually connects with the TE's for short to mid range yardage. What I meant was that you wont see any designed plays for him to scramble and gain yardage. The "Spread" offense that most are using these days employs a true Dual threat QB who can beat you with his legs as well as his arm. FAU runs the pro set, so thats just not in our playbook and we try to recruit your proto-typical pocket passer QB to run it. I hate the spread, just seems crazy to me to have your QB run smack dab into the middle of all those beefy lineman and linebackers. They almost ALWAYS get hurt.
  21. Yup, Rob did great. Word I hear is that he has a redshirt year left and MAY take it this year with the return of Harmon, and him and Grant being 1 and 2 on the charts. I hope thats so, I would LOVE to have him back next year. One thing you WONT be seeing is Rusty Smith scrambling. This is NOT a spread offense with a Dual threat QB. If Rusty Smith is running down the field then something has gone HORRIBLY wrong for the offense. We will use our new RB (Alfred Morris) to setup the pass and keep you honest. But i dont expect many holes to be punched thru your DL.
  22. Jeff Brohm our new QB coach has been working since spring on a quicker release for Rusty Smith, and from what weve seen he is quicker on the draw now. Our OL is VERY dedicated to protecting the QB. I think they only gave up 9 sacks all year, including games against Texas, Michigan State. I know that your DL is solid and that Suh is a monster so that will be interesting. Our OL is the beefiest (LOL is that a word?) its ever been with most of the line just under 300 LBS. If you guys get thru and put pressure watch out for the dump off to either the RB or FB (William Rose and Alfred Morris) also our TE's have a great deal of height and athletisicim so they can usually break across the middle for a few and Rusty throws it high where they can pull it down. IF its a blowout at the half I agree youll see our back up QB (Jeff Van Camp) as he is our projected starter next year. I wouldnt be surprised to see him get a series in during the 2nd quarter even it if is close to get him some more game experience.
  23. FAU will definately try to get past your secondary. Rusty Smith has great arm strength and he will try to air it out to our WR down field. Unfortunately you cant solely focus on that as the TE and FB' will be looking to get across the middle and pick up 6-10 as well. We have a very good team with our QB/TE/WR/FB playing together in every game almost for 3 years. They know what each other is going to do. Now if (and I belive WHEN) Suh gets thru the line and Smith gets under pressure well see what happens. Thats usually were you will see the dump off to the TE/FB for a quick 3-6 yards. Our offense tends to spread Defenses around as there are multiple threats from all over.
