Well, I believe he should be banned from attending that school ever again.  I also believe that kids like this should be sent to a special school for troubled kids where there is strict security and discipline.  It probably would be some form of boarding school where they are monitored heavily.  If, they can get past a certain point without problems (maybe one year at that school), they can be allowed back into another public school....but on a very short leash or they are back in the boarding school.

Kids like this are wasting everyone else's time and money.  They prevent good kids from having a good productive learning experience.

I remember, when I was in HS, there was a school in Nebraska that some troubled kids were sent to.  Maybe in Norfolk???  Beatrice?

    I like this answer!

Yeah, I think Norfolk had/has the school for Juvie-delinquents.  I think, or maybe it was McCook?

Private schools don't usually have to deal with this crap.

    Dang...

Can't wait to hear what (doesn't) happen to that kid.

I would love to hear ideas on what people think his punishment should be???

I agree with you about a private HS in Nebraska.

I have another friend (yes, I have two friends) whose kids went to Kearney Catholic.  He and I discussed this a lot with my accusing them of recruiting in sports...etc.  He said, the big difference is that the vast majority of students that parents are going to send to KC are good and motivated students.  Public schools have to deal with all the problem kids or kids with much less ability.  So, KC teachers and coaches get to teach and coach a much higher percentage of upper level students.

I don't know if a prestigious school like MIT or Harvard would look at a kid that goes to KC as being better or not compared to a Kearney High kid.

That said, my niece and her husband live in Philly and their kids will end up going to one of the top HSs in the nation.  I could see MIT or Harvard seeing that and being impressed.

Probably not a huge difference either way.

….and a private high school…..in Nebraska for example, would lead to what great connections?

I get that much of the time it’s who you know and not what you know but I struggle with the prestige aspect at the HS level. Sure there may be a few nationally that move the needle but that’s way less than 1% of the people who are paying out the a$$ for private schools.

I can answer that...Creighton Prep (Not sure if you remember it or not?) is THAT school with connections here in Omaha.  Big time.

As far as the other private ones here?  Not as much, maybe not even at all really.

But a lot of former Prep kids have great jobs in Omaha or start companies, things like that.  They stick together and help each other out.

I have a friend who is a lawyer that graduated from Nebraska Law School.  I was asking him, OK, what would a lawyer learn going to Harvard Law instead of Nebraska.  He said, the biggest thing is "connections".  If you have any desire to work for the supreme court or in some big Wall Street law firm....Harvard would get you there, not because of what you learn, but because of who you know.

    Yep!

I sent a student to MIT years ago.  His roommie just so happend to be the son of one of the owners of the Brewers...

Well, my former student got an internship with them and now is in the front office.  Worked out great for him.

Private schools: where people with cash hide from the world…

    https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/here-are-the-15-most-expensive-high-schools-in-america

I know Guy won't believe it but that is okay, BUT, I was going to do a little project on these schools in one of my classes, when we discuss poverty/wealth in America.

I find it fascinating that people pay this much, 50K and up, for high school but of course with that comes major connections, which is the probably the most significant part of those schools.

Even by that logic, naw man. :D

If Deion was smart, he'd leverage a year or two of quality play at Colorado for a real school, in a real conference, where you get paid real money, but he aint doing that because he'd rather sit at home acting like he's playing fantasy football instead of being a real football coach. He just sitting there buying and selling guys like he don't even know them.

    You might be right!

  10. WE all think Sanders is a clown and has no idea what he is doing...meanwhile he is making millions and is going to get his two kids drafted and Hunter drafted and probably "rep" them and make even more.

I am starting to think he knows exactly what he is doing.  He even got his buddy Warren a cushy gig with a nice paycheck.

I disagree.  I see nothing cool about the looks of this truck.

It might just be that I am a HUGE Road Warrior fan.  Love the Mad Max movies.

Probably because there is almost no talking and it makes it easy for my simple brain.

Absolutely. The good thing is that violent crime across the board has been on a downward trajectory since the 1970s. As we distance ourselves from COVID, violent crime seems to be resuming it'd downward trend.

There are a lot of really dumb ideas to come out of the American left, and "defund the police" was one of the worst.

They had SUCH a good chance to nail that one!  But they just could not think of anything other than the word "Defund"

This is the thing that they absolutely don't want.  They are starting to fight against birth control being available.

    Yeah, that is stupid.

It should be free and if girls want to get on the pill, they should be able to do that without having to talk to their parents about it starting by about age 15.  Is it better if they talk to Mom and Dad or Mom or Dad, sure, but don't put them in an uncomfortable position if you don't have to.

  14. Honestly, she is right.  I am assuming she means that birth control doesn't mean you won't have a kid or get an STD.  That is totally accurate, I mean, it even says it on the box.

I know a lot of people that had that "surprise blessing" baby, even though birth control was used...are they pissed off about it and both blame the other person, while resentment continues to grow and grow because they were almost totally free from parenting?  Of course!  Is it super funny to be golfing with that friend and make jokes about how "lucky" they are to have an 18 year old son and a 2 year old daughter?  YEP!

But, who cares, clearly it helps more than it hurts and should be totally legal and given out for free.

Oooooor the unrest and outrage has started to die down now that the bad apples are being held accountable.

Defund was always a stupid slogan, because what really needed to be done was to reform.

Literally a worse idea/slogan even over "New Coke" or "Crystal Pepsi"  But those dongs were SOOOO geeked up that they thought it was amazing.  Then when they were called out on it they were like "Errrr, ummmmm, we don't really mean DEFUND, errr, we just mean, errrrr, like, errrrr, make some ummmmm, errrrr, changes"

Even funnier were the people defending the stooooopid saying.  Like, just admit it, it was insane.
