  1. New Video He looks like a guy that could develop into something. Definitely would benefit from strength and condition, and tackling technique but looks like he can cover well and is very fluid.
  2. New ESPN review 77 Grade Wheeler is a defensive lineman who plays with a good motor. He has solid size and while he will likely be a defensive tackle in college he could fit as a 3-4 end depending on how he develops. While he did not tip the scales at an ideal type weight and will need to add bulk he did not come across on film as a small kid. He gets off on the snap of the ball well and can be a physical player. Flashes the ability to attack half-a-man and root himself in the gap. He can deliver a solid blow when engaging a blocker, but does need to watch his pad level. He can get tall at times when coming out of his stance and can be pushed back some. He brings his hands and displays good raw strength, but needs to create better separation. When he gets tall and lets blockers get into his chest that is when he can get into some trouble. Stays active and is a solid tackler. As a pass rusher he displays the explosiveness to get into a blocker and bull rush his way back. He needs to be more active with his weapons to help him shed from the blocker. Wheeler displays some good tools. He needs to keep filling out and develop and become more consistent in some of his technique, but could develop into a disruptive defender at the college level.
  3. Nevermind sounds more like Will Hampton, can someone with a rivals account confirm?
  4. Nice: don't mean to be a downer but that doesn't sound too good. seems as though his heart is at lsu. the statement reminds me of somebody choosing between their spouse of 25 years and or their dream girl.
  5. From a rivals teaser it seems as though Jay Guy is coming as well.
  6. I wonder if we can get a commit out of this group. I read somewhere Swigert wants to commit before the season, and I believe he may have only visited us and Stanford (not 100% sure). Or maybe this is the weekend Chance commits?
  7. So, I hear this Carter kid has us in the lead. Anybody think he might be our next commit? he said he is not visiting on the 31st, so i doubt he will commit anytime soon.
  8. Stanford and he has visited Notre Dame on numerous occassions
  9. because they have good coaches that can develop talent and they put their players in a position to succeed. but i understand what you are saying it would be nice for bo to get his #1 recruits, but we as fans don't know who's bo's #1 recruits. you could argue that since carter got offered before sconiers he is our #1 recruit; but then you would then have argue that carter is not our #1 recuit b/c tyler slavin was offered before him and i am sure someone was offered b4 him. all i am saying there is no way to know who bo's #1 recruit is, and if you argument is right that does not mean that bo is moving onto a scrub.
  10. does anyone know who they are? it looks like Ciante Evans, Donovan Vestal, Diamonte Wheeler, and Bobby Swigert could be coming (not sure on all of these). is there anyone else coming?
  11. When I saw his vid I thought the same thing. The east west running is going to catch up with him sooner or later. Eventually he is going to have to lower his shoulder and win battles at the line of scrimmage. Right now he seems as though he could be better suited for wide out because he can be dangerous in space.
  12. Nothing wrong with that... Stanford is selling the s*** out of their academics “What really sold me,” says Underwood, “I got to meet the professor of the major (business sports management and finance) that I have been interested in. For quite some time from what I understand he’s the best in the world.” Link but he did say he had a good time at the spring game
  13. Wide receiver Kenny Stills (Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon) is hoping to lock in a couple of his first few official visits shortly. Stills is one of the top receivers out West and earned WR MVP honors at the Nike camp at USC last April. He's looking both locally and nationally and has a short list of schools at the moment. "I'm going to take all five of my visits for sure," Stills said. "The three I know I'm going to take are to Florida, Oklahoma and Penn State. I'm keeping those last two open right now. "USC and Cal are high on my list as well and I like them a lot but I'm going to take unofficial visits to each of those. Both schools are pretty close to home so I want to use my official visits on schools that I can only fly to." Link
  14. I"m not saying Luc isn't going to be a good player, but I don't think he is going to live upto the hype. The more video I watch it appears as though he is good talent destroying lesser opponents. Sometimes he looks like the biggest thing on the field. Maybe it's just me?
  15. Two national powers on top for Powell By Jesse McCormack/ThaRinger.Com June 30th, 2009 Ronald Powell isn’t your average high school football player. With offers to play college football at practically every major school in the country, it’s safe to say Powell is a wanted man. ThaRinger.com caught up with Powell to discuss the latest about Powell’s recruitment, and his game, and more. Powell is about as dynamic of a football player you will ever see, and could play three different positions at the next level. “I can play anywhere really.” Said the 6’4, 225 pound Powell. “Schools are recruiting me at Defensive End, Linebacker, and Tight End but I don’t have a preference.” Powell was the centerpiece on a successful Rancho Verde team that has sent other players to college before. “We went undefeated but lost in the first round of playoffs. We have a young team and we’re shaping up to be the best.” Said the Moreno Valley native. “We’ve had players like Deshawn Grayson, he was in the class of 2008 and plays at UTEP now.” Powell has a plethora of talent, but still knows he is far from a finished product. “My athletic ability and me being able to play anywhere on the field is what I’m best at.” Said Powell, who has recently been clocked as low as 4.52 in the forty-yard dash. “But there’s always room for improvement, anywhere.” As far as recruiting goes, Powell is pretty laid back, but admits there are two teams that are starting to separate themselves in his mind. “I’ve visited USC, UCLA, Florida, and San Diego State but USC and Florida are starting to stick out.” Powell said. “At Florida, they’re always competing for a National Championship, I like the coaching staff they got, and the fact that it’s a college town. I really like that environment there. At USC, I mean it sells itself. It’s a great place to be, it’s always going to be a good school. The coaches are unbelievably good and they’re always competing for a championship also.” Powell said he is done taking unofficial visits, but has some idea as to where he’s going to take his official visits. “I plan on taking as many official visits as possible.” Powell explained. “I’m most definitely taking official visits to USC, Florida, and Tennessee.” Link
  16. "Class of 2010 cornerback Kacy Rodgers (Southlake, Texas/Carroll) said he enjoyed his visits to Notre Dame, Ohio State, Georgia and Duke and said those are among his top schools. He's a 6-foot-2 corner who plays physical." Link
  17. According to this rivals teaser it looks like he is planning a visit to Washington. The Huskies are in need of running backs, especially since David Freeman and Brandon Johnson are no longer with the team due to academic reasons. One of the U-Dub's primary targets at the position is Perris (CA) Citrus Hill's Deontae Cooper. The four-star prospect knows of two official visits he'll take. Is Washington one of those visits? Link
  18. Now that he's committed to the University of Spoiled Children he'll invariably be bumped to a 4 or 5 star rated prospect. at least people can't say Bo and Co aren't identifying great under the radar prospects.
  19. don't know what this means about our chances (no pun intended), but Stanford recently got a commitment from their 3rd DE.
  20. With LSU losing out on Urell and Fobbs expect a full court press for him by the Tigers to play DB.
  21. According to the LSU boards they lost out on him because he wants to play WR and not DB
  22. Saw this idea for a thread on another board and thought it would be good to start here. Everyone knows not all 5 stars are going to be 1st rounders and not all 1,2,3 are going to be scrubs. 1) Seantrel Henderson-BOOM- Deserves to be the 1 prospect on every recruiting board. He is an athletic freak and once he hits a college weight room he is going to be one mean S.O.B. The guy has future NFL Draft pick written all over him. 2)Lache Seastrunk-BUST- He should not be rated this high in my opinion. His game is too finesse driven. While he is explosive and dangerous in the open field I think he is going it find more difficulty making it to the open field in the SEC. I find it hard to believe he will ever be a feature back and may need a bigger back on the field to stay relevant. Could he be this years Joe Mcknight? 3)Darius White-BOOM- He needs to add muscle mass, but the tools are there for him to be a good one. 4)Marcus Lattimore-BUST- Nothing seems to be extraordinary wrong with his game, but nothing seems to be extraordinarily right either. He appears to be solid, but I have questions if he will ever be able to put a team on his back. 5)Matt Elam-BOOM- The kid is versatile and very physical. He could have been a dream WILL in Bo's defense (a LB that is versatile enough to drop back in passing situations). 6)Jackson Jeffcoat-?- Hard to evaluate. He's good, but is he dominate? 7)James Hurst-?-He can get to the second level for run blocking, but very limited film of him pass protecting. 8)Jeff Luc-BUST- Hard hitter but he does not seem to get a guy you have to game plan for. Maybe he's a high 4 star? 9)Demarcus Milliner-?-Plays RB in the film I've seen, don't know about his DB skills. 10)Lamarcus Joyner-BOOM- Definately doesn't play his height. He seems to be made for zone coverage scheme where he can play run support. 11)Michael Dyer-Boom- Can do it all and is very physical. Would be a dream in a spread attack. 12)Ronald Powell-?- Haven't seen any video. 13)Chris Martin-?- Plays LB in the film I've seen. Looks very stiff at this position. Maybe best suited for DE as he looks like a vertical attack. 14)J.R. 'Ego' Ferguson- BOOM- He could be a dominate DT and this is position I see him growing into if he is indeed already 270+. thoughts?
