  1. I have dealt with many broken bones over my years with Team Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki. Some athletes handle them well some never get over the slightest break. But compound fractures are a different deal. It is more of a mental healing than just the physical side. I have heard that Matt was not handling that side to well last year, but may be turning the corner now. It is tough and I would say the larger percentage of athletes that suffer compound fractures never return. Not due to physical limitations but mental. Here is hoping he is not rushing nor are the coaches. He has to be 100% certain this is what he wants. Good Luck Matt, we need you, but most of us will understand if it is not to be.
  2. The really good point in all this is that we have five very highly thought of RB's. That in itsself is a god send. I love the problem. Hope we end up with the same one at every position.
  3. Plus if he does not play quite a bit this year we will have no chance the following year. Experience no matter how little is better than playing with the scout team. And he needs a lot if he is expected to run the team in 2007.
  4. I tend to think it will be someone other than Lucky. I have seen flashes that indicate possiblity, but I just do not think he is all he is hyped up to be. Glen is a work horse, but the fact that they brought in Wilson and are giving Leon a shot indicated to me there is something not quite right.
  5. Try 37 years and the thoughts. You guys got to quit tormenting me like this. I have to work!!!!
  6. Possibly working again sir!!!!!!
  7. Pig, You can say all you want about recruiting this and that. Top classes bring NC's. It has been proven over the last 6 or 7 years. Again living in the past. Done talking about it. You have your ideas about what is important and what isn't. I have mine. We both cheer for the Big Red and that really all that is important. Good Day Sir.
  8. I agree chad. I doubt that we accomplish what TO did in that 5 year stretch, in honesty I doubt anyone ever does. But we have turned the corner. Play with fire and determination, win some, lose some but play like Nebraska. Never quit and never be totally out classed like we have been in the not to distant past. Sell the future. Never look back, what is done is done, good or bad. The future is bright and I am on board for the long ride (well as long as I live, hopefully another 10-15 years).
  9. You get the tradition and history comments from those that have signed. Most made the comment they know little about Nebraska other than we ran an antiquated offense. Now that BC is here that has changed and no one could be happier about that. I agree totally the problem has left. I am a big fan of BC and have sent alot of money to the program since he was hired. This program was living in the past with Frank at the controls. I like Frank and I personally know him. I have not met BC yet, was suppose to this fall during the Wake Forest week, but had a near death in the family and did not get back on the day I was suppose to see him. I have spoken to him on the phone twice and I am very impressed with him to say the least. I have voiced that since day one. I have been a booster of this program for over 30 years and I am not talking a couple of hundred a year. I love this team and program and admire the history and tradition. Lately that is all we have had to hang our hats on. I want new history and tradition yearly that I can be proud of. Look forward young man that is the future and what we need to prevail in. I never want this program to have to only think about the past and how great it was. Every year needs to be great, but we need to only worry about who is getting better and who our competition is not who we have beaten 10 years ago. We are on the same page, I am just alot older I would guess, and I still want some great games and future wins that I can razz my SC friends about. We are on track to RESTORE THE ORDER. But it only has to do with the coaching staff and their ability to bring in the right kids to the program. We were badly out recruited this year by the top programs. But I have faith that BC will make this work and next year we will see the recruiting year we all want. That my friend will be the History and Tradition that the 2006 seniors can look at and make the decession to join the BIG RED!!!.
  10. Obviously most of you were not around to see the Bob Father in action. Scoreboard is current, it is not past, it is today. Cling to the past and rant on about our old wins. But they mean absolutely nothing. If you lose to an opponent they own you at the time. There are many in that category. Alabama fell like a rock. It did not matter how many NC they had, and still have victories over most of their competitors. No one even mentions their past victories comparing to the current dominance in the SEC. Army used to be a power house. Notre Dame the same. Are there Nebraska fans afraid to play either at this time. Its win or lose, there is no middle ground. Any of you guys feel Texas Tech has the slightest fear of playing Nebraska anytime soon. They certainly have been intimidated by our wonderful record over the last 50 years. 70-10, yea it made a difference. It means nothing. You put the best team on the field you normally win, not always but normally. History and tradition was important in the past. But now days it carries very little importantance in the athelet selecting a program. It truly is only important to the fans for bragging rights and the current and past players. If we were to go 0-10 do you expect to recruit players from the top of the list. We showed tremendous improvement this year, but were unable to crack the top 100 of the supposed best athletes. There are very few programs that have the history and tradition of Nebraska but where that should be a major selling tool it is not working. Winning is the only thing that is important, current results. IE See Oklahom, LSU, Florida State, USC, Georgia, Texas, Miami, all are at the top of the recruiting list. Not one of those schools showed the domination this program did during the 90s. But they have continued to win while we were falling. See a trend? You are only as good as your last game.
  11. Honestly we are having problems with upgrades and the finances to do it are not rolling in like expected. The coaching change turned a lot of boosters sour and made alot very happy. Our AD is not the most popular guy in the world. But he did what had to be done. And he is totally on the side of the football program, which is a major improvement over what we had. With the new additions I would guess our facilities will be around 2nd or 3rd in the conference. I doubt we will ever compare to Texas, just too much money down there. Texas Tech seems to have an unending supply of money also. With Oklahoma State getting all the money, look for their facilities to compare with the top 4 very soon. We just need to win against the big boys. We do that the money will start to roll very quickly I think.
  12. Pig, Scoreboard. We are Missouri, Kansas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma's bitch. That is reality untill we play them again and win. I have been around this team for over 50 years as a fan. I love our past history, but that is all that it is. We strive to be the best, not the best in the past, but today. Right now we are not as good as the four above mentioned teams. Deal with it and make preperations to change it. I could care less if we beat Florida in the Fiesta bowl, I want win the future games, history only is concern of todays fans. The recruits don't even know we played in a NC. All they know is we ran (in their minds) an antiquated offense and want no part of it. We have to show we are up with current football to move into the forefront again. BC is doing that. Too many think that the mid 90's were a given and it would continue no matter what happened. Well guess what, thinking that way and trying to live on past accomplishments killed this program. Respect your opponents and understand that everyone of them is out there every single day trying to get better, just as Nebraska is. It always amazed me how Kansas State always gave us a pretty good game. They had no history other than losing. Guess it did not mean much on that side but it does on ours.
  13. Home is where the money is! We need it to finish the upgrades and by the time they are done we will be last in the race again. Money money money means home home home. The more the merrier.
  14. You are only as good as your last game. Scoreboard. Living in history is what got this program to the level it is. Forget the past and look to the future. Trust me there is not one team in the Big 12 that is afraid of Nebraska. We need to start now, and kick butt. What happened 10 years ago means squat. We have a coach now that can get us back where we once were. But only with the support of the fans. Get on the bandwagon, even if it is only 8-4. Next year will be better and the following better yet. We own no one unless we beat them this year!!! Hunger is the only thing that will put this program back on top.
  15. Next year will be out best chance for a couple of years for sure. I do not see it happening but we can always hope. Still to young, talent down compared to Oklahoma, Texas and USC. We will catch USC early and hopefully with a QB that is not ready for us. Texas, who knows with there talent and QB's in the mill. Oklahoma will be the toughest if we meet them in the CCG. They have the talent and experience moving forward another year. I see a north division title and the CCG for sure. Still think we are at least three years away from playing or being in the hunt for a NC game. But I do see us dancing with the top 10-12. Not a put down on BC. I love the guy, but I think it just takes more time to right the ship than we are giving him. We do not have an offensive line that would get us to the NC game in my opinion. And I just do not see it jelling quick enough to do it no matter the coaching ability. We had two pretty good games to end the year. We had a couple in the middle that gives me concern. Another year of experience and some very good players returning to the field after injuries will help. A very exciting year to say the least. Is it September yet????
  16. Heart condition, wanting to spend more time with your family is not answered by going into politics. Normally a very stressfull job. Most leave politics due to heart/stess related issues. I meant he saw the writing on the wall by how athletes were changing in their outlook to college. All seem to think they are NFL material, where as a lot of his top kids were Nebraska natives who only wanted to play for the Big Red. Very few athletes have that outlook anymore. I would guess well over 95% are only looking for the best and fastest route to the NFL. Tom wanted loyalty and he saw that slipping away in todays athletes character. Just my opinion. No disrespect to Tom.
  17. I think it would work against lower level teams. Talent is the question. Getting that talent to come to Nebraska is the question. Top talent wants to play in the NFL. No sense in spending 5 years learning a system that ends at the college level. The pros do not run the option for a reason. It just will not work at that level. When you line up against less than BCS talent possibly, but it will never be seen at the top of college football again. Talent is to even at the top 10 schools. If you want to win lower level games and possibly low level bowls the option might work. Unfortunately college football has become a game of sales. You have to sell the customer what he wants. No top 100 recruit wants to play in the option. Sad to see it go, but the scholarship regs brought it about and Sportscenter's show me the money attitude. So the answer it will not work no matter who is coaching it. Tom saw the writing on the wall in my opinion. Left a winner, and Frank just did not have the balls to change it. Not that any of us would have accepted it if he tried.
  18. Yea pretty much my story. No problems during the day. I imagine if it turns out to be a nite game and there isn't a shuttle I will be watching from home. I live near Palm Springs in the Garner Valley area. Have been here for a little over 20 years. In the Marine Corps prior so know the area pretty well. I just want people to be very careful. Where this game is being played is a long way from Nebraska in more ways than one. This is not the Rose Bowl or anything like it. Those that made the trip to the Rose Bowl may have a false sense of security. Just words for thought to all attending.
  19. A couple of years ago it was on the internet. Who knows maybe that will happen, but I doubt it would be on TV or pay per view as they would still lose their butt.
  20. Joekum, The comment was, just bandwagon fans. There are murders in that area of Los Angeles almost every nite. So go ahead and walk the streets if you want. Most people coming from Nebraska for this game have no idea of what they are stepping into. I personally would not attend at nite unless I was taking a chartered bus to and from the area. Which I assume will be available. I am sure Californians for Nebraska will set something up. I will look into that and post the info if it happens. Kawasaki Motor Corp used to do that for the families during the Super Bowl of Motocross. The racers took up most of the parking near the stadium and people were forced to park in the out lying neighborhoods. Damage to vehicles and injuries/murders to spectators is the reason the AMA left the Colisuem. This is fact I know, as I ran part of the motocross team for Kawasaki then.
  21. Their games very rarely sell out. Just in the last couple of years has attendance been positive. Many season ticket holders only attend the Notre Dame and UCLA game. There is just too much to do in Southern California is the story. Just too many band wagon fans is the real answer. If they are not winning you would not even know college football existed on the news. But as soon as either have a winning season going they are front page information. I had UCLA season tickets a few years back. I am sure they are close to giving them away again. You can buy season tickets for any Pac 10 school I would imagine. Just not that big of deal compared to the Big 12 and Big 10.
  22. I would not try to tell that to Tennessee/Florida, Auburn/Alabaman, Army/Navy, Ucla/USC NotreDame/Michigan, Notre Dame/USC, Texas/Oklahoma, South Carolina/Clemson, Michigan/Ohio State. There are many rivalries that fans live for. We are just one of many, and ours has lost the lustre lately due to the fact we do not play every year and both have had down years. Not to say all the others haven't but trust me all are just as important to their fans. As stated earlier it is our rivalry game with Oklahoma it is not their main rivalry game by any sense of the imagination.
  23. No matter how bad it may have gotten we still have a reputation in the football world. In honesty the higher price shows respect for our program and the fact that many Nebraska and USC fans will attend this game that nornally do not. Not a problem, I can hardly wait. But if it is a 6pm kickoff my tickets will quickly be available to anyone that wants them. Will not attend a nite game there for any reason.
  24. Blackshirt, I spoke with the ticket office. She stated they were set. I could call in June to get the acutal seat numbers. The confirmation comes from the USC ticket office. Tickets to arrive 4-6 weeks before the first game of the year. I too have my reservations about the general comment but she assured me I had the tickets locked up. I spent about 40 minutes on hold to verify this. Still wish I could have gotten the seat numbers yesterday, but will have faith. We may order season tickets, that would most likely get us the numbers earlier I think.
