  1. You truly think we had the talent of Texas Tech last year. We did not belong on the same field with them. This years team is expected by many top prognasticators to challenge Texas for the South title. We are still not anywhere near their talent. It will take another two years of recruiting like last year to get there. Texas Tech is a team on the rise, reason being, forward thinking. Looking at their competition and seeing what they bring to the table and building something that will battle their abilities. I knew we would lose that game last year. I think we lose it again this year. But I think we lose it for reasons 3-4 years back. Lack of recruiting kills a program. That is what got Frank fired, not wins or loss numbers. Not looking forward, living in the past. Single wing anyone?
  2. Supposedly Blake is saying that Cody Glenn reminds him of Earl Campbell. That is a pretty high compliment from a coach that has prove his knowledge of top athletes. I am sure we will not be seeing many passing plays inside the 5 with Campbell opps I mean Glenn in the stable. It just gets better and better..
  3. Great improvement agaisnt who FF? We lost 3 games to the only real teams we played. And that is counting Missouri a real team. With the previous staff we would never compete with Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Auburn and a slew of others. We were becoming a regional team. We only recruited regionally. Another two years of recruiting the way we were, we were done. You need to look ahead FF. You live in the past. The past is gone. Move forward and think that way. You and I are the same on Pederson, but don't blame the employee for the bosses comments. Give BC the chance he deserves. If we are not resectable by the end of next year, at least it appears we will have the talent for the next coach to do something with. See Stoops at Oklahoma.
  4. We played no one that year FF. We were lucky to open with OK State, later in the year I would not have bet on us. Michigan State, who knows they never do much in bowl games. You can cling to that if you want but you know it means absolutely nothing. We were killed by the top teams in the conference at the time. Embarrased is the word. Our 7-7 the year before indicated the talent. We won games by schemes divised by Pelini and put in motion by Williams. With out Super D we would have lost more I think. He made the team in my mind. Not Bullocks or Washington. My guess is neither will make and be down the road within 3 years. Take any bets on that?
  5. FF, Most recruiting mags have stated for years that Nebraska recruits for its own very selective needs, not the norm in college football. Most would not have ranked our classes or talent higher than lets say a Wake Forest or Kansas the last few years. We had talent last year in the defensvie secondary no question. But their dedication, loyalty and moral fibre are in question. Read comments by Stewart Bradly about the cancer that has been removed. Following a departed coaches desires and guidance were not in the best interest of this program. I stated this was going on last August. I can understand what happened, but I will never understand why. Coaching can only accomplish so much. If the drive, desire, loyalty and character are not there, there is not much anyone can do. I could care less about BC's pro career. He proved he knew how to coach there and was very successful. He had absolutely the worst job in Pro Football at the Raiders. Their slime owner has destroyed more than one coach and player. He wants to be buddies with the top of the food chain and endorses what they do. Tail wagging the dog. BC may have been the only person that would have taken this job at the time. If you are to believe that Nutt turned us down, and numbers of others, it says they looked at the talent said are you nutts? I also think you are going to find that Pelini (who I used to have a very high opinion of) made Bullocks and Washington. But it was done with Hollowell and Williams, with out those two Bullocks and Washington would have been okay but would never had the interceptions or success they enjoyed. Any time we played a team that the ability to shut Demarrio and TJ down we had no interceptions. Their greed and disloyalty caused many problems last year. Both were told to hit the road. As you see they have. There were many problems last year, I am hoping that those are gone and the staff will only have to do their job and not baby sit the spoiled bratts they had last year. I will not measure this year on wins and losses. I will measure it on the 5 things listed above. If those are done I will consider a successful season. If those things are accomplished I think we see a 8-3 season. But I do expect early season problems, those problems could cause some losses that most do not expect. Too many new kids with very little experience are having to carry the load due to the total failure of the previous staff's inability to recruit. If by next year we are not a comeptitive team, then I will agree with your thoughts, but I think they need more time. Not only to get their kids and their system working but to develop into real college coaches and put the NFL behind them. I honestly feel that will happen if they are given the time.
  6. I think the tailgate idea is great, but try to keep and equal number to send out to those not so forunate to see the games Nameless. But they are yours and do as you see fit by all means. I appreciate your offer to give them out. Some negative things have been said, but I have never seen anything from you that indicates you are not a great Husker Fan and good person. Thanks for all the information you bring and provide. Do we have a list of who will show up at the tail gate party. I plan to be there for the Wake Forest game, but will miss the Pittsburgh game I am afraid. I hope you kids don't mind an old fart showing up for these. Blackshirt, let me know if there is anything I can do for the tailgate.
  7. Second that AVhusker, glad to have you here. I get on the soap box more than I should. Just love this program way too much I guess. But all of us do I am sure!!!! 1. 110% effort every play, every game, every minute on both sides of the ball. 2. Fans to appreciate the players, the staff and the effort given. 3. Be in condition to accomplish #1. 4. To be able to accept losses as well as victories with a professional attitude. 5. To be a team again....
  8. Wecome crop duster, sorry I forgot to do that earlier.
  9. This kid is going to the big show from everything I am hearing about him. He will want to show his skills on defense. That is his calling. I only hope he is sincere about his desire to graduate and does not forgo his senior year. He will be a high draft choice next year if he goes.
  10. BC took over a bucket of slop. Everything about this program was in the shitter. No character, no moral, a player that was causing more problems and injuries than the oppostition ever could. No dedication, no leadership 90% were not in good enough shape to play highschool ball and not one real play maker. He had a QB that could not hit the ocean from a row boat if he was two hundred miles out to sea. A departed jerk that was making every attempt to sink the program. Players that were not loyal and basically mutinied on him. Talent that was so far below the average teams in the country it was sad. And then on top of that every jerk in the world that thinks they know coaching, telling a guy that had developed the NFL's best rushing team and passing team, led them to a Super Bowl that he does not know what he is doing. People threatening his assistants families. Christ if one of you had to face one or two problems like that your asses would have packed up and ran. I am sick of this bs that BC does not know how to coach. It is like me telling you I know more about your job than you do. Get a clue!
  11. From what I am hearing, he is tearing our receiving corps apart. He has the defense down pretty well it appears. I do not think there is is a gap between him and the ones that left. He wants to be here and he wants to play. I will take a player that has 110% desire no matter his ablity (if he is good enough to get a scholarship) over a person who has decided he knows more than the coaches and has already quit on the team. Ask Stewart Bradly what he thinks of the dearly departed.
  12. It is nice that some on the team have made the statement that the cancer is gone. My belief is that there still is one cell left. I hope it has been cured and itseems to be saying all the right things. I hope there isn't a change in thought. Pelini poisoned this team last year. Hopefully we will see a real team this year, and I do not mean by wins or losses, just a group of kids working as hard as they can to do the best that they can.
  13. When Tom was losing bowl games regulary the coment was what does dog crap and Nebraska have in common. Neither belong in a bowl.
  14. Some had to take summer school classes I think, they have been notified they have passed, but it takes time to get from one system to the other is what I have been told.
  15. Shut up I resemble that remark!!!!!!!!
  16. Your first post and you come in stirring up $hit, I am sure we will all enjoy your posts... It would be nice if you introduced yourself and acted like you had manners for a couple of posts before you started attacking someone. What is in the past is in the past. Nameless brings a lot of good information and he knows alot about the Huskers, until you prove you are half the poster and Husker fan he is show some respect...
  17. Any chance this pi$$ing contest could be locked?
  18. Hey I think we need a little Oklahoma drill here. Honestly guys practice is tomarrow, cool down, we are all Husker fans. No point in this hostility, save it for Wake Forest as they will probly beat our ass!!! Got Ya!!!!
  19. FF, All you need to do is read the bios of the top players recruited this year. Most made the comment they did not know much about Nebraska, but they were now interested due to the fact of the WCO and an NFL coach. How could one of the most successful programs in college football be an unknown to the top athletes in the country.. One reason only, no personal contact. We recruited basically on a regional basis, unless the kid contacted us and wanted to come to Nebraska. After Tom left we normally were only mentioned by 3 or 4 kids in Rivals top 100, now we are mentioned by 30 to 35. Program awareness is what BC brought, that alone gets us in the door to top athletes accross the country. As much as I like Frank he just could not do that. I think he began to understand the problem, and that was the option. Kids just did not want anything to do with it. He was starting to put together a more balanced/passing offense, but I think it would have taken years for it to be successfull. Frank recruited kids that really had no where else to go or were locked into Nebraska from birth. I also question the number of his recruits that have quit or left the team, not just the recent ones but earlier problems. Character is question in my mind. Others passed on kids we recruited for a reason. I think BC is a major step up in recruiting and possible coaching. The coaching still remains to be seen, but I truly believe he will get it done.
  20. I hope you guys are right. I personally do not think we win the Tech game. I expect a much closer game but their talent is still above ours. Sean Callahan feels they are the sleeper of the south and could upset any or all of the big 3. But we do have them at home and if we are still undefeated by then, we will have a tremendous amount of confidence going. That will help. They normally drop a game early in the season.
  21. They are looking at what we brought to the table last year. If you truly looked at it we were a 6-5 to a 5-6 team with the talent we had. Will our new supposed talent pay off. This year they are not considering the Juco's nor the recruiting class. Most top programs do not consider Juco's and Freshman as program enhancing. As I have said many times most do not consider improvement until it is shown on the field. We have to prove we are that much better. Untill then it is all hopes and dreams on our part.
  22. Frank had the curse of Eric wanting to run home to mommy every opportunity. Which he still does. But in honesty, Frost was the better QB. He won the NC and played the game as Tom designed it. Eric caused many of the in house problems for Frank. Coach and player disrespect hurt the recruiting process and the working relationship frank had with the other coaches. A number of them lost respect for him with his trip to Omaha. I honestly feel we would have been better off as a team if Crouch had not been at Nebraska. Not saying he did not do a great job when on the field, and I am happy we won the games we won, I just think we would have recruited better, had more team loyalty and coaching loyalty if that scenario had not happened. Eric was the best athlete, due to speed moves and durability I think. Both were great players but Frost was a QB, Eric was a running back. QB=Frost Athlete=Crouch.
  23. Crouch was a ball hog, and would not have pitched if he had the players in my opinion as he has always been ERIC, so there fore Frost was without a question the best QB of the two at Nebraska. Frost was a QB, Eric was a running back. Frost performed in the offense as Tom designed it. Eric ran the way Eric wanted it. End of discussion. lol
