My guess is it will be a directional school. Home game with no obligations to travel. Money in the bank and it is needed to finish the upgrades. Another year or two we can play the big boys. We have a very tough schedule next year, we need some creampuffs.

Liking is not the question. When the game was on the line both had the attention of the team. One may been due to admiration the other fear, but both got everything out of their team mates was my point.

The kids that play this game, at least the majority are all very good kids. I do not hate nor boo another program. Now Barnet is a useless peice of, well you know the answer to that.

Wonder why Frank did not offer him? As stated being picked up by North Carolina for a chance at QB, but most likely on the fast track to 4th team DB. Does not prove he is division material. I wish him luck and hope I am wrong about his ability, but he had two different offenses and never showed he could handle either one of them IMO.

It is sad that two of our greatest athletes were on the field at the same time competing for the same position and the fact that neither truly got the chance to show their talents in the NFL. I think Brook would have ended up the better QB in the NFL. Truly a sad situation. I would never compare the two. With out Brook we would never have gotten to the championship game, playing with a collapsed lung. He gave everything to this program just like Tommie. There was no difference in them in my oppinon. It appears all on the team would have walked through fire for either. We are so fortunate to have both I do not want to discredit either by voting.

As a group we were the best college fans, but now that the normal for college football has hit Nebraska, we have moved closer to the rest. We are good when we are winning but the ugly that all have is here to. We were just forunate not to see it for 40 some years. Hopefully it will go away again this year and stay hidden for another 40 years.

I thought Bowm made the statement that he is here for two years. He wants to graduate. Could be wrong.

Twice in a row, this has to be a record. I agree with FF here. Iowa State has a good team, we have them at home and that will help. I don't think we get by Colorado at Boulder, but will have a better idea after the first couple of games. Way to early to even think about Colorado at this point. If Pinkel lets Smith run they will be a much better team than last year. He is doing what BC did last year also. Setting the program up for recruiting its needs. We will know what they are up to long before we play them though. They seem to give us fits at Columbia, I will be there this year so I am really looking forward to that game.

FF, Is that truly you?.. I think your comments are about spot on. Youth and inexperience will be a factor. But there is the possibility they will be good together and that is what we all hope for.

Wake Forest=comfortable win. Any bets on that? I will bet anyone on here that Wake Forest covers the spread. I may be willing to go they will be with in 7. This is not an easy game. Trust me all here will be shaking in their boots before this game is over. This is a very dangerous team. It is a no win situation for Nebraska. We win, well you should have you were playing a ACC cellar dwellar, you play close what the heck is wrong up there? and if we should lose, we will be the laughing stock of college football. They have a year of experience, 10 starters return on offense, 8 on defense, have an all ACC punter and one of the best freshman kickers in the country. FSU, VaTech, Clemson, NCState, Maryland were all lucky to win last year. Losing two games in overtime and all in the final few minutes. Other than Miami. They beat Boston College. They played a way tougher schedule than we did last year and faired much better. A loss is a loss, but this team will have an attitude this year. There will be no fear of Nebraska. Be ready for a game, I would bet my house on it.

Last year our Oline was suppose to be the weak link. We have two very good line coaches and they made it work last year will all the Richie being gone crap. I think Wags and BC know how to get the most out of the personel. It will not be one of our best, but it will be adequate.

The difference is quite obvious. Frank went after kids he thought would say yes. Frank looked for the number 15 to 20 and the other programs looked for and signed the 1s 2s and 3s. It does not take long to get way behind with that mind set. He also never seemed to strive to get a full class. He never pushed the envelope. BC and staff say who could possibly say no? They pull up every rock and ground squirrel looking for talent. Frank could recruit, but he did not place much importance to it. He felt we are Nebraska, they will come. A terrible error and what most likely cost him his job. One thing that seems obvious to me is the fact that if any of the top programs offered him, why didn't we hear about it. Illinois was one he wanted I have heard. But they took a coach that was fired after him, the difference was the talent that had been left at Florida. That was coach that deserved another year. Zook showed he knew what it took to win. The talent that was left at Nebraska, well we do not need to go there.

I suggest you tell Va Tech, BC and Florida State how weak they are. Not to mention every other team they played besides Miami. I would guess if we were playing at Wake Forest they would be favored. I will bet you today that they cover the point spread. I have no idea what it will be, but they will be in this game to very end. Most here would predict a two or three touchdown victory. I doubt it will be more than 2 or 3 points and won in the final minutes of the game. Just the way they lost all of their games last year except for Miami. Take off the Husker glasses. As Hunter says, this is the watershed game for this program this year. It reminds very much of the Texas Tech game. No respect. We are Nebraska. Trust me they are headed in here thinking and planning on winning. They are not the least bit afraid of Nebraska nor their tradition. They feel they play at least 7 teams a year that are better. Most likely they are correct for last year. We will see how good we are going to be in that game.

I am a Frank fan and have been for close to 40 years. He did the best he could with the situation he was handed. There was no way he could change the program after Tom had just played for a National Championship. We all would have had his head. All assistants were promised retention if Frank took the job. This was forced on Frank. But Tom knew the recruiting was going down hill I think. I think it is one of the reasons he left. He could see the change in the athletes and their desires. He knew he could no longer recruit kids that could not qualify at other top programs. He knew Texas and Oklahoma were on the rebuild and really had no way to compete with them. The year he won the last National Championship he was still responsible for recruiting. We got one top 100 athlete off of Rivals. Michigan got 17. Why? Frank was given credit for his classes because Nebraska recruited for their program. At that time it was thought that it worked. Unfortunately it did not. We were given credit for players that were suppose to fit us but not other programs. We road the coat tails of our past performance. Frank very seldom had a full class. Where as Texas, Oklahoma, USC, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State and many more recruited lights out against us. We were in a downward spiral on talent. When on Rivals lest than 5 out of the top 100 list us as a option every year, it is an indication of how far the program has fallen. Last year is the first year we have been listed by over 20% for as long as I can remember. As far as Barney ball is concerned, who do you have in mind that could have run the offense. We did not have a QB on the team and had not recurited one for ever that acutally showed up. We took Dukes, who after transfering could not even make 4th string at a lowly ACC cellar dwellar. Recuriting is what killed this program. Keeping your head burried in the ground will not change that. Other programs had openings during the forced retirement of Frank. Many took lesser known and far less successful coaches. Why would that happen if they felt he could run the program, their job would be to hire the best available. Something tells me they did not harbor your belief in his ability. Frank is goood man and good position coach. He is not a division 1 top teir coach. I know him and like but he does not have the tools to run a major program. Sorry but I think he knows that too. He will do okay at Ohio. I hope he turns it around. It is not the preasure filled situation he had at Nebraska. I do feel if he had been able to fire and hire as he so desired when he took the jobe things might have been different. But that again is an opinion. I wish him luck and will always support him. But he just was not ready for Nebraska.

I have been talking about this game ever since they were put on the schedule. This is a major test for us this early in the season. They will have no intimidtion factor. This team will show up ready to play and in my mind expect to win. Home field advantage will be non existant. They have played much tougher competition and done well at home or away. This is a much better team than 4-7. I expect them to actually be in the hunt for the ACC division. They have alot of experience returning and a kicking game that is second to no one. Be ready for the rants as this is a no win situation, even most of the Nebraska fans think this is a cupcake game. Nothing could be further from the truth.
