  1. I disagree totally on Joe having a great game last year. I posted from that day forward we had real problems at QB( on BHF). Have not been here that long. He could not look off a DB, tracked from the snap and always threw behind the receiver. Could not hit a deep route. Joe had a descent game made by the coaching staff. I do not like the way the spring games have been played the last two years. I feel the 1st teams are loaded with anyone that might be a 1st teamer. We need to see the 1 vs 1 to know where we really are. I doubt it would have been as pretty as it was. Not saying I am disappointed with Zach by any means. He did a materful job and looks like he will be the man. I would just rather have seen talent against talent. I am concerned about are lack of running ability with this Oline against the 3rd and 4th teamers. All in all though I think we are much better this year than last at this time. It seems the team is meshing together and the staff knows more of what to expect from the players. It appears the players are beginning to understand what the coaches expect and want from them. I have heard the Daniel is becoming a leader on the defense, this is a far cry from last year. If he truly has bought in this year the defense will be much better than last year. I can hardly wait for more of the JUCO's to get here and the Freshman. I have much better feelings about this team than last years.
  2. Joe is a good kid, he made comments that pretty much anyone would have been capable of. He has seen his stock tumble from 1 to 4 in a very short time. I think he should transfer, but I feel his only chance of ever playing is in NAIA. He is not, was not and will never be a Division 1 QB. He was not capable of running the former staffs offense and he can not run this offense. He should never have been recruited to Nebraska for either offenses. I hope he transfers somewhere he will get to play. Riding the bench at Nebraska will not be good for him or the team. I admire the effort he gave last year. But no matter the time frame it will never work out. Cut your losses and move on and have fun playing the game you love. Good Luck Joe, you deserve better than what waits here for you.
  3. At least there is a chance for the sun to shine in our world. Do you recall the centers name that went missing the night before the Super Bowl? Possibly the guy that called all the line play missing had something to do with it, ya think? All of those fantastic Pro Bowlers are gone now aren't they? Didn't Sapp make some comment about how bad they were? Didn't the MVP endorse Callhahan, Parrella and a few other past Huskers say he did a good job there? Again my main question is if you are a former fan why the heck do you care what happens. You are a Troll, nothing more, nothing less. Troll on FF, soon there will be no one responding to your idiotic posts. Move to Onion U, they need you there. No, that is not true, no one needs you, your like a giant needle in the bottom.
  4. We have been behind on talent for almost 5 years now. Many classes of 17 to 18 and of those some never even saw the field. Recruiting put us in this situation and it will take a couple more classes like the last to get us anywhere near the top programs. Today you a talented QB versus a QB recruited by the former staff. I am not saying Zach will lite up the schedule. I have many reservations about this team and the way this scrimmage was ran. But you can see the difference in the talent that BC and staff are bringing in. Frank had the idea that all wanted to come to Nebraska, and nothing could have been farther from the truth. That is what happened and that is what this staff is correcting. Sales sales sales is what it takes to win. You are seeing the changes and how the program is pormoted. Just the beginning. Hang on, it is going to be fun to watch the FooFAN go away.
  5. I say if you are not a fan of the program go away. I have answered your last stupid assed comments. This team is on its way back no matter what you think. Go to Onion U and follow them. They need Nebraska haters over there.
  6. Where would you have him transfer to FF. Frank would not play him. So he did not fit the QB dive left, right and up the middle offense. Just what offense did you see him playing at Nebraska. He is a great kid, but I have said since the first time I saw him play, he was not as good as Lord. I love his attitude and dedication and he will always be a Husker to me. But I agree he should transfer if he wants to play football, but for him to play he needs to drop in competition level, most likely to a Division 2 school. He never had the talent to play at Division 1. He was another recruiting mistake by the former staff. And there were many. Not having a QB on the depth chart that could even run our old offense is amazing to me. Yea this is a bad staff, just keep telling yourself that.
  7. Did you happen to read the part about 3 of our best players rebelling against the staff, two have left for the pros thank god and the other seems to have a had mindset change. Some where along the line you have the idea that it is proper to question authority. Players are not in charge, but tried to be. Pelini gave us a great defensive scheme, but if Mr. Williams and Hollowell had not been in it, it would not have worked. That is where the rub was. The Bullocks and Washington wanted cover 2, (basically to make them look like heros), which worked with speed on the corners and rushing ability from Super D and Hollowell. With those two players gone our ability to disrupt the offense was basically gone. The staff is responsibile for assessing the talent and putting in what will be the best for the defense. When you have three very talented players quitting and continually bitching about the scheme, you basically have mutiney. And if your best 3 players are dogging it the other 8 can not hold it together. As usual you take everything out of context. You take positive comments and turn them into your same old garbage. It appears there has been some steps taken by both sides to improve communication. That takes coaches that want to imporve and players that are willing to follow. Some how you have missed the idea of team sports.
  8. This is a rumor, and I can not find where I read it. But supposedly Joe was cleared to practice, but decided not to participate in practice. It sounds funny but the drop to fourth could be punishment for refusing to throw the ball. I do not have a clue if it is true or not but would give some idea of why he was battling for 1st and instantly dropped to 4th.
  9. Normally if a player is red shirted he ends up on the scout team. The 1st teamer gets the majority of the snaps 2nd team less and on down the list. The redshirt does not normally get playing time with the offense that the team runs. We are talking about a different level of athlete with Beck. He is the real deal supposedly. Manning type. He is not going on to be a safety or a reciever. He will (or is suppose to play QB at the next level). If so it is unusual for a top player to go all 5 years. I think this staff could care less about red shirts. They think he has the talent to play now. He will only redshirt if an injury comes. He will be 2nd or 3rd team but will learn the offense from day one. He may never play a down this year, and if so that will be a red shirt year. But he will not automatically be a redshirt in Septemeber. If he is, then he is not the talent the staff thinks he is IMHO.
  10. Red shirting puts him with the scout squad, which will do absolutely nothing for him. I do not feel he starts by any means, but I do feel he will play in games and may take some meaningful snaps. Scout team does him no good and he wont be here for the 5th year anyway, very seldom happens if the kid really has talent. Use him when you have him and let him learn along with Taylor. They will be the two that play in my opinion.
  11. No Redshirt for Beck, repeat after me, no redshirt for Beck. We need two QB's at the top level. He and Taylor will be those two by years end. No Red Shirt for Beck.
  12. Being an old timer and having seen all of these guys play, I kind of surprised my self by picking Cory Ross. But comparing what he played with last year and the rest and their teams, he was hands down the best. I doubt if any would have done a better job than he did last year and would not have carried the whole team on their backs with a turf toe. He truly was amazing last year, on what is considered our worst team for as long as I can remember. He did a fantastic job.
  13. Turk, There are a few schools that might differ with your idea. Alabama, Penn State and Notre Dame seem to be having quite a tussel getting back. It took SC quite awhile and it did not happen over night for Oklahoma. Things are changing, parity is here. There will neve be another run like Nebraska has had. We made history that will not be duplicated, be thankful and move forward. We will return to respectablity, but SC has the only chance of surpassing our records and I really do not think that will happen. Winning a NC after this year will be up in the air more than anytime in the past. There are at least 10 teams next year that will be capable of winning it and I think that will be the way it is every year. But I do feel we will return to being one of those ten teams in the very near future.
  14. I really have no knowledge of Leach, but have heard that said by several people. I can tell you that I enjoyed my trip to Lubbock for our game and literally had a ball at the Holiday Bowl. Wearing my Nebraska gear. Caught a little grief when I went in the alumni area, but for just a few seconds. Met some great people. I am a life long Husker fan, but I have met a group that I feel at home with. I will always cheer for them until the Nebraska game. And if they get by us will be pulling for them to kick the crap out of anyone they face. Leach is a tremendous offensive mind. He just picked apart California, and SC had to struggle to score on them. Tech could have put another 3 TD's on California. One comment was made though. If their offense is working it works against anyone. If they are having a bad game, it will stumble till it falls. Like a lite switch some said. I honestly have no idea where we stack up against them this year. We did not belong on the same field with them last year. They have lost a few good players and I think we have gained a good group. I think the game will be more of team effort this year, and if the offense can move the ball and not turn it over it will be a much closer game. I think we win, because I have faith that BC knows what he is doing. But I understand in their minds they have the upper hand. Winning does that for you. I am not coming back for that game, but will be there for Pittsburgh and Wake Forest. I just hope BC gets accross just how important each and every game is to this team and I hope he understands it also. From CFN: Spring attitude.. It's time to take a slight step up. This might be one of the nation's most underated programs, always going to bowl games and always coming up with competitive, fun teams. Oklahoma and Texas are still the big dogs and Texas A&M is strong, but the Red Raiders will be good enough to beat anyone on their slate. There is no reason this shouldn't be another eight win season.
  15. FF, I agree it was the fault of the staff, the Solich staff for not having enough talent on board to compete with the dregs of the Big 12. ISU, Kansas, CU, Missouri. And for recruiting players without the character to finish what they started. Typical from a young Nebraska fan. Lack of respect for the opposition. Of all the bowl games the Big 12 played in who did the best. I would say Tech's victory over California was better than Texas over Michigan. Tech lost to Oklahoma by 10 or 12 if I remember correctly and was in the game the whole time. Too many TO's I think. I would bet the statistics would indicate a win for Texas Tech. Does not matter, they will be here to play. As stated, I have been around this team a long time and have attended many games at home and away for going on 45 years. Tech reminds me of the old days of Nebraska. The same ideas, dedication and desires that drew me to be a booster for Nebraska is at Tech. Good fans, respectful and inteligent.
  16. I think the juco kid is considered to be as good if not better than Herian. Time will tell on that scenario. He is suppose to catch as well and block much better. That is what they are looking for this year. I hate to see Matt lost, but it is a position we can afford to lose it looks like. Either way I hope heals fast and this is a non issue.
  17. In the late 70's we were not feared by many. Only the 6 dwarfs. But my comment was on their program. It reminds me very much of what was going on with Nebraska then. Strong backing, wanting to win, but not demanding to win. Understanding it takes time to develop into a real power. Willing to spend the money to do so. I have spent two games with them this past year, and it reminded me very much of the early Nebraska years. I do not expect them to develop into Nebraska. I do not expect any team to ever duplicate what Nebraska has done in the last 40 years. But they will be a player that all will have to contend with. Boosters are what makes a program grow. There is a lot of money available to Texas Tech. All it is going to take is for them to knock off Texas a couple of times and the it will be endless. They hate Texas worse than Oklahoma does.
  18. Turk, Texas Tech will be on the same field with us for awhile. This is a very good team that has an outside shot at winning the Big 12. They have played Texas, Oklahoma and A&M much closer than we have for quite awhile. This is the Nebraska of the late 70's. Their fans are behind them 100% and money is not a problem. Their facitlies are first rate and they run a very fun offense for the kids. If they are able to get the top kids out of Texas their run is here to stay. Currently they are not competitive with Texas and A&M with instate recruiting. But are narrowing the gap. They will be a tough game for us period. We will have a better idea of where we are after the spring game. I am following them closely this year as they have become my 2nd team. This is a team to be respected, they will bring it everytime we face them trust me. I will say the same thing I said last year. We could be facing an undefeated team game day. If so that will mean they have already defeated Oklahoma. I think that is very likely. This is a team that will come here with no thoughts of fear or intimidation. They feel they will be the intimidators. As you stated it is domination, and they feel they will be able to do the job. Mind Set, we need to earn it back by play. We have not had it for a long time. Just saying it does not make it so.
  19. Johnny was not a running back in TO's offense, although I do believe he played one game as an IBack. His position was WingBack I think. More of a wide reciever/running back in the offense.
  20. I think the fact he rode the bench with Lord starting and hardly ever getting into a game indicates he was not ready to run the option offense. He is a gamer, but I do not think his ability is that of a top tier Division 1 team. Frank knew he had no one other than Joe the following year. He saw what happened with over playing Crouch and just how far behind Lord was with no playing time. There was a reason in my mind. I think they felt he was to fragile to run the offense and wanted to make some changes before they threw him to the wolves. Unfortunately that is exactly what happened as he was there was last year. I am pulling for him to make the grade, but just do not see it happening.
  21. Speed, size, athleticism, loyalty, dedication, what more could we ask for. Let the problems begin!!!!!!! Which one do we use??????? What a terrible situation to be in, kinda reminds you of the problems poor old SC and Oklahoma have to suffer through.
  22. Last year was the first rusher for over 1000 yards since 1998 I think, I think we are running the ball fine. We have the talent at IB. Recievers were a problem last year in that they were mostly brought on to block. Did not have the get to the ball and catch it no matter what mentality. Those things can be coached but I think the new ones coming in in the fall have that mentality. I think we will see some more new faces in the mix by mid season.
  23. You think your booing would surprise anyone schestev?
