  1. Some peoe will always be negative with Bo and the team. It used to be that the team was good for 4 blowout losses or losses to teams we had no business losing to. This year, whil the team has shown plenty of weaknesses, they are improving. They took a game that hey were absolutely manhandled on the oline and found a way to make it work for a near comeback. The D is solid. Forced 3 TOs, played a short field several times and got NO support from the O. Still only gave up 27. The O has work but mainly 1 place. We had like 6 of our top WRs out and Tommy had no time whatsoever. Ameer had no holes due to the lack of passing. A stronger oline and we are right there. I would actually say give us better weather and we gimmick our way to overcoming the oline. Best part is, few teams have the Dline MSU has. Oh and our special teams appear to be special. This may be the best loss a Bo Pelini team has suffered since joining the B1G. Let's save the "Bo sucks" tiraid for a real blowout.
  2. I guess if something is repeated enough it becomes fact. But say our guy runs a 4.4 and theirs a 4.6. It's not like rain will make both guys run a 4.6. It will slow both guys. That's why Corsos rant before the bowl game didn't come to fruition. Rain will make it harder for linemen to gain traction. That can be a way to overcome superior talent against you or to exploit a weaker opponent. In general it leads to a lot more stalemates. We should see some grinding runs wih occasional big breaks if it does rain brought it the game.
  3. MVP the Heisman is not. It is given to the "outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity." That last part makes you wonder when awarding to Jameis, Cam, and Reggie.
  4. Compared to what they put on film in 2012 and the first half of last season, they're a pretty much a juggernaut these days. We don't have to jump anywhere to draw that conclusion. Just watch the games. And, yes, their numbers will likely dip when they face better opponents. That goes for every team, though. So we are using the term juggernaut comparatively. In that case this years Huskers are (whatever term is 10x a juggernaut) compared to 09. I think we will be fine it we play our game. We won't though and that's why this game will be so tough.
  5. I think this may be the most complete game we have played this year. Similar to how we played Miami but against a much worse opponent. They don't have the horses on offense to hang a bunch on our defense even if their 1s stay in against our 2s and 3s. Our offense will have this game in hand early. The team will have a lot of confidence riding into MSU.
  6. Let's not jump to conclusions that MSU is an offensive juggernaut. They may be but its not settled yet. They have yet to play a top 50 defense. They played an FCS team (Jacksonville St), a team that should be FCS (Eastern Michigan) and Oregon. Oregon is known for giving up lots to opposing offenses because they can score so much themselves. Despite playing the weak schedule, MSU is only 22nd in yards per game. This isn't meant to say we will roll them or they aren't a good team. We just need to pump the brakes on anointing them... just like we need to do the same for the Huskers.
  7. Thanks for following the rules. White players can only be compared to other white players. In all seriousness he seemed to have more speed than Todd.
  8. Polls are meaningless the entire season now.how are they less meaningful now than before? You really think 10-20 years ago they made more sense than now? You think back then they meant more to anything than they do now. They meant more to Nebraska fans. I don't remember anyone in say, 1999 scoff, "pfft, I wish we weren't ranked, we'd sneak up on more people" No but I so remember those in 99 saying if only the voters would let us play FSU we can take anyone and will win the MNC. The polls definitely meant more back then. Several times deciding which team with similar resume got rings and trophies over others.
  9. The way the season was going he would have been in New York at least in 2010. The hype he was getting after OSU and KSU was great. Defenses were having fits and no one had enough film to know his weaknesses. The Watson comments remind me that the grass isn't always greener. He fan base couldn't wait to get him out. Now they can't wait to get Beck out.
  10. Thought we played well tonight but there is plenty of room for improvement. My question is if we played the way we did tonight against McNeese and struggled against a tough team on the road. What would be the feeling? Personally I think we have shown how good we are as long as we are focused. On another note. Great time for the game. It was only 4:30 am here at kickoff. Next week will be rough trying to wake up earlier.
  11. It's way too early to think about the Heisman. Wait until week 6 or 7. If Ameer and this team does what it should, he will be in the conversation. It will take an 11-1 or better record from the team and 1700+ yards with 15-20 TDs for Ameer to have a shot. The way the votes are split up the voters of each region almost vote to protect their conference. The SEC will vote for their guys and against the P12 and B1G. B1G votes against the SEC. B12 will give the benefit of the doubt to the P12. It is political and Ameer will need a lot of luck to win. Just enjoy the ride.
  12. I think people get a little nostalgic about the 90s and what teams used to think about us. A family friend played for K-State 95-98. His first game at Memorial he said the Tunnel Walk had him more fired up than anything. He was always looking forward to proving how good he and his team was over, in his mind, an overrated Nebraska team. To this day I have never heard him even hint that he was scared or that there was a difference in talent between the teams. To put it in perspective, a coworker of mine is an LSU fan and worked in Lincoln several years back. He visited a doctor that was a player on the championship teams in the 70s. That doctor told him in all of his games LSU hit the hardest he ever felt. Its called being polite. You give a compliment to someone or their team in a setting that it will never go public and no one can ever prove it either way. Both sides walk away thinking they met a great person and think kindly of each other's teams.
  13. This team shouldn't be judged until at least after the Fresno State game. Likely after Miami or MSU. But one of the following has to be correct. We played great because we are great. We played great because our opponent sucked. Some combination of the two
  14. It is definitely a spectacular catch and athletic play but I don't know if its the greatest ever. David Tyree caught one on his helmet in a Superbowl with a defender all over him. Bell had a one handed grab in traffic last year. Davison's catch at MU is probably my favorite. Ultimately it comes down to preference. Some people need meaning to make it great, others look for extraordinary athletic ability, or many different things. It was a damn good catch and its nice to see we have more "hands" receivers than it seems like we used to have.
  15. Thanks for sharing. I think we are seeing the advantages if an athletic quarterback over an athlete playing quarterback. We shall see if it can be done against decent competition.
  16. My friend let me try his sling box login to see if it would work. It's going perfectly during the busy time of the internet here. Plus huskers are on! I'm sold
  17. Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I will be going the route of the slingbox. Still need to research but thanks for your help!
  18. This D will be fine if they have to rely on Gangwish for significant PT this year. He didn't look like a liability (like we have had several times at positions in the past few years). Plus he should get better as he works into his role on the team. The biggest problem will be that he will go in as a solid player replacing the top DE in the country. He won't be a weakness but he will be a step down. Collins, VV, McMullen and company will have to elevate their game to make up the difference.
  19. To me its a case of two camps. The Bo-lievers saw us play a crisp game, execute well enough to put up great years, etc. The Bo-leavers saw miscues, penalties, mistackles, overthrows, etc. There was enough for either side to make their case. If this were golf, out of 12 games for the year, this one would have a "Stroke 11" next to it. Lot of football left this year against tougher competition. It was good to see us impose our will on an inferior team but we need to eliminate several mistakes if we think we can play the same game and beat Wisky, Iowa or MSU.
  20. Not sure if this is the right board to post but I figured this would get more traffic. Anyone using BTN2Go to view the game on demand? I'm overseas with a relatively slow connection ~1Mbps. The ISP's here will also restrict use during peak times or to peak users. I have a friend who used a sling box for this weekend's game - he had no issues. I tried rewatching the game on demand and once I made it through about all of the first half. The other times I tried I didn't go 1 minute without freezing and then I had to reset the app/website to try again. Had to repeat the process every minute or so. Anyone else have this problem with BTN? Advice from any techies that know the difference in the two technologies?
  21. Our punt returns were horrible last year. While the blocking scheme will make a big difference, I don't think we are at a point that we can throw out our reserves to fill special teams just to save our starters. Ameer could get injured just as easily in a number of scenarios. Let's not hide from the injury monster, it is a part of the game that you have to play through. I wasn't alive but I have seen several highlights of a certain offensive start that also returned punts. Good thing Devany wasn't worried about little Johnny getting hurt on special teams. We may not have won a title in the 70s if he was.
  22. As others pointed out, Forde is a Mizzou grad. You will always notice a hint of dissension when he talks about Nebraska, Kansas and some of the others from the Big 8/12 that used to get more love than MU.
