  1. Interesting article from CO: http://www.dailycamera.com/sports-columnists/ci_13855047 Apparently every Colorado home game for the last 3 visits has been the final regular season game coached by a number of coaches. 2003 - Frank Solich; 31-22 win; Fired 2005 - Gary Barnett; 30-3 loss; Fired after a 70-3 loss to Texas in the Big 12 championship game 2007 - Bill Callahan; 65-51 loss; Fired 2009 and another game at Folsom Field??? Hmmmm, see a trend here?
  2. I just wrote an angry letter to Nissan about removing Suh from the ballot. Figured it couldn't hurt anything other than the opinion of some Nissan employees of Nebraska fans. Maybe its because their customer service is in TN and they're still peeved about '97 & '99???
  3. I heard this was pretty good And+1
  4. It did not count my last vote either. Pasted this: Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska Evil, no good, poll mongering b@stards
  5. Matt O'Hanlon gets the Nagurski defensive player of the week award. That makes 3 Huskers out of 10 weeks, not bad boys, keep it up! http://www.sportswriters.net/fwaa/news/200...rski091110.html
  6. Offense lacks... Offense? Case solved. Close the books.
  7. The DL is like pizza. No matter how much you have, there's always room for more!
  8. I hear ya man. At the Iowa game there was some blowhard drunk piece of sh@t spouting off in my section a few rows behind me. The @ss was drunk, riled up, and yelling at the top of his lungs. Fortunately there weren't any Iowa fans in our section, but the things coming out of his mouth had no place in the stadium. After hearing enough, I loudly told him to shut his mouth. He comes back with a tirade of further cussing, saying how much he had paid for his ticket, telling me how we should settle this outside, and then some more cussing. I tell him that there's young kid's around us, but that falls on deaf ears - fortunately security came up and gave him a talking to. What also disgusted me was that no one else stood up to the b@stard. I would have thought that someone else (some of the parents of the kids in the section???) would have said something. @sses like this give the whole husker nation a black eye. No place for this in our stadium. If I see this kind of crap again though, I got your back man.
  9. Just sayin. Definately not something I take for granted anymore. Wooohooo!!!
  10. So watching the Penn State Ohio game, and Penn just tied the game. The replay looked to be indicating that Penn state did not score, but overall was inconclusive. I'm getting tired of all this. Can't we get some form of electronic sensors on the field and built into the ball to remedy this? If every damn mall in the USA can have sensors in their front entrances to track every piece of clothing, cd, or any other item, why can't the damn field have some sensors for first downs - or the goal line at the very least?
  11. Two Nebraska vs Oklahoma tickets for sale. Gate 24 Sec 16A Row 56 Seat 20 & 21 in the South end zone. $150 for the pair Call 402-991-6558 Tickets are currently in West Omaha.
  12. Rivals has a teaser. Any more info on this?
  13. Somewhere someone wanted to know about Nebraska brews. Empyrean - the flagship of Nebraska brews and carried by most downtown bars. Best selection at Lazlo's (its home) and probably second for Old Chicago. I like the Burning Skye (a hoppy scottish ale with a sweet aftertaste) and the Third Stone Brown (a very dark beer that doesn't taste dark - aftertaste of walnuts) http://www.empyreanbrewingco.com/beers.html Spilker - Too far away to get to the brewery (30 miles south of Lincoln), but they do good work. Their beer can usually be found at Old Chicago. I really like the Hopluia (a pale ale with some fruity aftertaste - If you like Red Hook, you will love this). http://www.hopluia.com/ Gottberg - Also too far away to travel (Columbus I think). You might have trouble finding their beers. They used to have a Gottberg Wheat that was very comparable to a New Belgium Sunshine Wheat. They also had a 80 Schilling and a Tripel that were amazing. (I think the Tripel was 8+ % too. ) You might have to ask around the bars to see if anyone still carries this stuff. One again, Old Chicago is probably your best bet to find these. http://www.dustersrestaurant.com/brew_pub.htm (If you are unfamiliar with Old Chicago - the food is average to above average, but the have ~30 beers on tap and probably another 100 or so in bottles. They usually keep a decent inventory of local beers)
  14. There's also a mexican place called De Leon's. 24 hour greasy spoon style mexican food. If you guys have a late night/early morning craving and don't feel like Taco Bell, this place is classic. Don't eat it sober though. And take a Taxi - its definitely not downtown.
  15. There's a Misty's on O st. right across from the Embassy Suites. Good God, since 2003 no less. Somehow, I have never seen the place despite walking within a block of it for the past 6 years. Guess I need to stop taking just 10th street. Forgot to mention earlier: Lazlo's has some pretty good Nebraska brewed beers. Third stone brown is quite tasty and can put you one your ass in a hurry.
  16. I for one am a big fan of Runza, but growing up in Nebraska can do that to a man. For those still interested, they can trace their roots to both Germany and Russia. I used to have home-made one's called Bierocks that my grandmother would make. Very tasty for ethnic food if you can get past the looks of the inside. I'll give a +1 for Bisonwiches for the sandwiches, its a pretty good lunch place. Misty's is good, but out of the way of the downtown area. If you are drinking, you probably will not want to make the commute. For the downtown area, Buzzard Billie's is a pretty decent creole restaurant and Old Chicago is your standard bar meets pizza joint. For bars, just head South of the Stadium until you hit "O" street and then take a left. The bar strip is in the mid teens and has ten or so on each side of the street. No one has mentioned Duffy's, they have $15-20 fishbowls which are a great way to start off the evening.
  17. "It's also worth noting that a 4-4/6-6 K-State game would not be bowl-eligible because they have two 1-AA wins, and only one can count toward eligibility. That means that the North champion technically might not be bowl-eligible."

  19. When I complain against booing, I'm not saying to strip everyone of their freedom of speech. And on the complete opposite side of the spectrum, I'm not going to on some PC babble about protecting people's feelings. But I will say that booing shows lack of dignity and respect. My opinion on problems in our country is me calling it as I see it. People just don't care about anyone but themselves. Are you the kind of person that chews out a store employee to get what you want? Would you just as well speed up your car, as let the person with their turn signal into your lane? What did you do today to make a stranger happy? Boo them when they dropped a pass, or had a bad game, or called the wrong play? I like to think I treat others how I want to be treated. And to me, booing is not a part of my vocabulary. I can't and won't tell you not to boo, only that I don't like it when you do. Boo hoo. There ya go, have fun with that. Here's something for you to chew on though. Read it. Think about it. Then read it again and then think about it again. Not the victory but the action; Not the goal but the game; In the deed the glory.
  20. Then show your "support" for your team by not patronizing the game. Booing is classless at any level of any competition. People with this mindset are a shining example of the problems I have with our once great country.
  21. And I'm not even taking about the game. Jesus, my alcohol induced coma that was yesterday is caching up to me a a terrible way right now. Ugh.
  22. ESPN's tailgate guide. Among the rubbish, there was something about watching cheerleaders, being close to a bathroom and drinking whiskey while playing archrivals - all seemed like useful ideas. http://sports.espn.go.com/travel/columns/s...&id=4527043
