  1. It's an absolute smokescreen. The only southern team he'd like is UT. Who else is available? Answer: No one. Delaney is going about this correctly, which is no surprise. The dude is smart... look at what he's done with the Big 10 and their network; they were bottom or the barrel just a few years ago. Now, they're rolling. From my sources, they're just waiting on trying to talk UT or ND into the deal. Nothing is official, which is why Jimmy Boy can talk through his teeth and say nothing is happening. I don't know that this is true... but on our MU Rivals site, our publisher thinks they'll make an announcement by July. Now, I think that's a tad early, but we'll see. I really think the Big 10 wants ND, and they'll do everything they can to get them, including putting this on hold... after all, what's a few more months... even if its 8 or so. In the long run, it's well worth it.
  2. By the way, sorry about screwing up the title. It should read, "What We're Hearing about Expansion..." Chalk it up to me being tired. Have a good night.
  3. Here's what I've heard from some of my inside sources (and I worked in MU's AD for some time). Mizzou Nebraska Rutgers and Syracuse will all be a part of the new Big 10 (or whatever it will be called). The reason why there's been no announcement is they're still trying to recruit ND or UT to join the party. The conference doesn't want a public rejection; thus, everything is hush hush until they get their answer from those two programs. Personal thought... no way UT goes. We know those clowns. It's more likely that they'll start their own network. In fact, an article just came out in which their AD stated as much. They have so many TV sets in their state; I don't blame them. It would make sense for ND to join. I know they have a nice little package. But with every year, their prestige slips. Kids these days have no idea how good they used to be. And with most of their rivals in the Big 10, it would make sense. In all likelihood, they could over time make as much. I don't know that NBC will continue to reup their TV contract... considering their numbers slip every year. If ND and UT decline, I have no confirmation who else is being discussed. I'm thinking Pitt. Thought I'd further stoke the conversation. Either way, I'm looking forward to continuing our rivalry in the new conference.
  4. Curtis hanging with All American Danario Alexander. He'll be seeing you boys next year on the field. http://twitpic.com/t5539
  5. I'd be perfectly happy watching Mizzou win out and finish with 9 wins and watch you guys catch the beating in the Championship game. The Championship game has done nothing but worsen our bowl game the last two years.
  6. Wow. Thanks guys for not taking nut shots. I have a lot of NU friends They're great people. They're being kind, considering I did the same the last two year. But I though that here I would get my ass reemed, but you haven't. NU, fo rthe most part, has classy fans. Congrats. I expect to see you play UT this december.
  7. Thanks, Denver. Tonight hurts bad. BUt sh#t happens. I guess our boys just aren't big time ready. Can't lose a game like that in th e4th quarter. Damn. One day, I thouhgt we'd have a solid program.
  8. You guys played one hell of a game. I wish we would have played minus the weather. But great job handling it and bouncing back. I hope you guys slip up a few times and lose a few, so my team can get back, but I don't see it. I'll give Bo some credit. Blaine got frustrated at the end, and that was the difference. Still, I think the next two years will be interesting. Have a good nigth, and take care.
  9. Or when you lose 3/4 of this board will... ...blow up and I will have to restrain myself from logging in. Man can they just play the game already, tomorrow will be a long day...waiting for the 8pm kickoff Thankfully, I have two Cardinals games in between to eat up some of the dead time. Tomorrow is going to be an awesome sports day; Blues home opener is tomorrow, too. I still can't believe the Blues took both games in Sweden from my Wings. I'm still gonna blame it on the Jet lag... The new ownership has done an incredible job rebuilding this Blues team. I don't think they're a cup contender yet, but in a few years, when these youngsters mature a bit, they'll be dangerous.
  10. Who was it? EDIT: Nevermind. Found it. What an interesting concept for a website. Never heard of it, until this post.
  11. The Cubs have done the same, though. And how relevant are they, really? The Cubs are very relevant. They've been competing for the division every year for more than a decade now. Are they as relevant as the Cardinals? That's the point. We're comparing Huskers:Tigers and contrasting that with Cardinals:Cubs. I bleed Cubbie Blue and all, and I recognize the Cards as our "rivals," but in a realistic discussion of relevance, the Cubs aren't on the same page as the Cardinals. How many Central titles have the Cards won this decade? How many World Series titles? It's not even comparable. You and I have two very different definitions of relevant. Relevance to me means current competitiveness. Either way, it's a moot argument.
  12. Well, it's Columbia. You will NOT find an NU bar. But the places I mentioned should be civil.

  14. You know how you Cardinals fans feel about Cubs fans? All the division titles you've won, all the World Series, and the Cubs have won... nada? That feeling you get when Cubs fans try to pump up their team as relevant is the same feeling Husker fans get when Missouri does the same kind of boasting. You will never see me say the Cubs are better than the Cards at anything. We're not. We suck, and a few recent years of above-average play doesn't obviate that. Maybe that helps with the perspective thing. Oh, I get it. In terms of history, MU has a loooooong way to go before ever getting close to NU's tradition. I fully admit that going on the stadium tour in Lincoln was extremely cool. And you all should be very proud of it, which I know you are. It's very much the same way I am of my Cards. I can't tell you how many people compare going to a Cardinals game like watching an NU game. Polite, knowledgable fans who make up a sea of red. All that good stuff aside, I still hate the Cubs. It was bred in my DNA. And I fully admit; they've had some stretches where they've been better... it sucks, especially considering I have many Cub fan friends. But we never argue history... Just the now. Relating that to college football, you'll never see me argue our two programs. I would be an idiot to do that. However, I do feel we have the better program (AT THIS MOMENT). Things can quickly change. It looks like Bo's doing a good job of steering the ship in teh right direction.
  15. How can an expert pick against the Rams?? Too bad they are my team too.. Cards on the other hand need to lose to my Dodgers. Thursday could be a really bad day for you when Nebraska and the Dodgers win.. Atleast hopefully Nebraska!! Go Big Red Ha! Hey, man! The glory days of the Greatest Show was some of the most fun I've ever had! And I remember getting pissed when people would criticize those teams. And at least you're a Dodgers fan... not a damn Cubs fan, like it seems many Nebraskans are. Although, don't take it too personally when we take care of you (yet again) in the playoffs. Too much Carpenter. Too much Wainwright. Too much Pujols.

  17. I can understand you getting ticked. I always do when the "experts" pick against my teams -- Tigers, Cards, Rams, Blues. But you have to admit... I think may of them are going off what's transpired over the last few years.
  18. you intentionally direct a husker fan to a known tiger bar ('cause that would be teh FUNNY!1!!) and then use a W T F icon when you're called on it. pretty clueless, even by missouri standards. I must admit hack i only took the original poster half serious. It would be like me posting last year. "hey! Any Tiger bars there in Lincoln?" the answer is well....duh. what do you think. But I am sure there are places were he can go without issue. I always laugh at the how MU fans are horible talk. Truth is, quite often you will hear other fans from other teams say very nice things about MU fans. Much like they do to husker fans. Maybe its just you and ku that they have problems with? Even then, I always smile when i read "Mu fans are awful! the Worst ever. Have you heard what they do?? Its not even safe to go to a game there!!!.....well...No...I havent actually BEEN to a game in Columbia....But....Thats what I heard...on a message board" I didn't mean to come off like I thought all MU fans were going to be problems. I'm 23 and will be with 5-6 other people my age. Basically, I am looking to stay clear of the bars frequented by the college folk. Maybe I should of stated that more explicitly but I figured people would of known. Whenever fans of other teams have asked me for suggestions I always tell them Buzzard Billys or Brewsky's in he Haymarket and to stay away from 13th and O after 10pm. I was hoping for the Columbia analog to a Lincoln suggestion like that... I would say if you're honestly looking for a bar, look above. Heidelberg is a landmark Columbia bar right next to campus. Boone Tavern is not bad either. Both are far more chill. While that may not be the atmosphere you're looking for, those are places you really shouldn't have ANY issues. They're not the typical packed shoulder-to-shoulder bar where things can get heated. Actually, you may be okay if you go to Shiloh, as well. It's a big MU alumni bar, and it's likely older alumni aren't going to give you any sh#t. I also know that a Tin Can just opened next to campus... They have two original locations in St. Louis. Very cool niche bar... They serve nothing but canned beer, and all types.... You can get get dirt cheap beer for a $1 or so; you could get premium beers for much more. They also have some pretty damn good comfort food. Oh, and if you want some damn good pizza, I would go to Shakespeare's, also right next to campus. Amazing stuff with a bar and plenty of options. They offer a wide variety of pizzas with tons of different crust, cheese, sauce, and toppings. It's really very good. Hope this helps. And by all means, if someone gives you trouble, just ignore them. They'll likely just walk their drunk asses away. I know that's what I do when in "enemy territory." Have fun! (and go Tigers! )
  19. correct, but crowds don't win football games... yes noise can be hard to overcome and mental mistakes are made, but you can't tell me Gabbert will just have an amazing game because he is at home, you can't tell me NU's D will not rattle him... Well, I'll tell you... I'm not convinced you'll rattle him. The kid is pretty cool. But there are no certainties in life. That I can agree with.
  20. Well, while Illinois looks like a bad team, that was a HUGE game in a 50/50 hostile stadium. Blaine handled the big pressure around it (including the fact that it was his first start in his hometown) incredibly well. And while you may think he didn't play well in Nevada (and he did miss some open men in teh red zone), his stats were outstanding.
  21. Flatbranch is incredible. Love their pumpkin beer that I'm sure they have going right now.
  22. Yeah but most of those joints don't have windows...................... HA! Very true! But they provide much better scenary inside.
  23. Good points all around. You're absolutely right. Your dline will need to bring quick pressure and your DBs will need to provide tight coverage off the line to eliminate the short routes. I know Suh has been an animal in batting down passes, but with a 6'5" Gabbert, I don't see that happening as much. He'll need to get in his kitchen, and do so fast.
  24. Maybe Pinkel and Washington are playing possum with the running game. I get that your O Line is young, but they've all got game experience from last season, as I recall. Washington didn't suddenly gain 50lbs, so it's not like he should be slower. All signs point to a good rushing attack for Missouri but... it's not there. And that's against poor rushing defenses, too. Bowling Green is 106th. Illinois is 103rd. Nevada is your toughest opponent against the run at 52nd in the nation. Missouri had to run the ball a lot against these teams to get their yards. A few reasons: 1. Teams have stacked us against the run, allowing us to really concentrate on passing the ball more. I really do think that has affected our overall numbers. 2. Our right tackle Dan Hoch was injured for a large portion of summer practice. He's immensly talented... 4 star recruit (previously committed to NU). However, that was critical practice time he missed. I think it's has hindered he and Gregory's (our RG) development as a duo. As a former linemen myself, knowing how the guy next to you plays/makes line calls/etc is huge. So, I think that's hindered us some. 3. We've swtiched to a zone blocking offense this year. Our splits are much smaller, too. So, instead of firing off the ball and trying to drive a guy backwards, you spend more time "dancing a guy down the line." It's hard to explain, unless you've played/avid fan. Regardless, its a great scheme for our athletic line, and it should benefit us greatly against teams with talented dlines...eventually... but in the meantime, our guys have had some struggles adjusting to it. They're coming along, but it is a big change.
  25. I don't see this thread going well.
