  1. My head tells me Bubba because of his body but Turner just seems so electric, not to mention a better passer (based on HS stats). That's all I got. Thoughts?
  2. Regarding your second paragraph, it is true that you cannot say "Hey they would be undefeated if all their players were available, so I'm going to vote them #1". But when the team barely wins each of those first four games instead of barely losing them, then comes out and pounces on the rest of their opponents, you can say "This team is #1. They escaped without their great players, and now are dominant." That is the case Nebraska played in Saturday. They escaped with the win without a couple starters so they shouldn't be dropping in the polls. Had we lost, you obviously can't say "They would have won with Martinez so they shouldn't drop at all", but we didn't lose. We should be #6 ahead of Wisconsin and Stanford.
  3. 3. The champion of Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, or the Western Athletic Conference will earn an automatic berth in a BCS bowl game if either: * A. Such team is ranked in the top 12 of the final BCS Standings, or, * B. Such team is ranked in the top 16 of the final BCS Standings and its ranking in the final BCS Standings is higher than that of a champion of a conference that has an annual automatic berth in one of the BCS bowls. ----------------- I don't see how the Big East gets in there without a ranked team... Here's what I think: NCG - Oregon vs. TCU, both undefeated Orange - ACC champ vs. at large, no other ACC teams close to BCS bowl Sugar - 1 loss Auburn vs. at large, LSU still high in the at large Rose - Stanford vs. Wisconsin, Ohio and Michigan State both still high in at large Fiesta - Big 12 champ (hopefully us) vs. at large, no other Big 12 team high in at large So that leaves Boise, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan State as high at large teams. In my perfect BCS bowl outcome it would be: NCG - Oregon vs. TCU (should be an awesome game) Orange - ACC champ (no idea who wins that) vs. LSU Sugar - Auburn vs. Boise Rose - Stanford vs. Wisconsin Fiesta - Nebraska vs. Michigan State (they have a better shot at winning out than OSU) Isn't there any scenario where the Big East is so bad that other teams bump them off? Big East is an AQ. They get their champion in as long as they have 6 wins. Not in the case that Scenario B above is true... I don't know if that is correct but if it is it sounds to me like the Big East won't be getting a BCS Bowl.
  4. Thats the thing though, NO ONE is really a championship caliber team this year. Oregon has a great offense but a very mediocre defense and hasn't played anyone (they remind me a bit of our 1983 team with less talent) Auburn is good but not a great team and a suspect defense as well. LSU is not a great team but gets very lucky a lot. Noone from the Big 10 is great either. The Non-AQ teams are solid teams but play absolutely noone and are not title worthy.. We have flaws and weaknesses, but so does everyone else. We may not make it, but we have as much right to be in the title game as any other 1 loss BCS team and a lot more than any undefeated non-aq team. Exactly. Compare us with the competition. With Martinez and Dennard, I think we can play with anybody except for maybe Oregon..
  5. I'd have to say Solich came into a tiny bit better of a situation than Pelini...
  6. The events that occurred today definitely helped us. LSU beating Alabama helped SO much. here's what we need now: 1. LSU loses to Arkansas in last week (likely) 2. Auburn loses to Alabama in last week (likely) 3. Auburn loses SEC Champ game likely to South Carolina (very possible) 4. Ohio State loses to Iowa or Michigan (could happen) 5. We stay ahead of one-loss Wisconsin, Boise, TCU (remember having a Big XII Championship game is a huge advantage for us) If all 5 of these happen and we win out we make it to the National Championship vs. Oregon. It's obviously not very likely that ALL of these happen.. but they could. "Stay ahead" of TCU and Boise? How do we stay ahead of them if we are already several spots behind them? I'll say it again, a one-loss team has no chance of jumping an unbeaten TCU. Either TCU gets upset by SDSU, or BOTH Auburn and Oregon lose, or the one-loss teams are outta luck. I don't think you needed to have a sarcastic response here. In fact I'm pretty sure this is my second straight post that you felt the need to make a witty comment on. I was thinking of Wisconsin when I typed stay ahead, then realized I didn't feel like making a #6 on my list so I bunched it with Boise and TCU. If you couldn't understand what I meant then that's not my problem. As for your argument, I disagree. The computers will like us more than TCU, so we need to impress the voters. Having a Big XII Championship game is huge. Voters have short memories and if we play a complete game vs whoever we play (looks like it'll be Okie St) it could be enough. I didn't say we would jump them but it's more possible than TCU actually losing one of those games.

  8. This will be in about 20 sigs if it turns out incorrect. Definitely true. So what happens if it is correct?
  9. what just happened? i hate to be that guy, but with something this big, i want some sources. not necessarily woodward and bernstein, but something. Sorry out of respect to my source I won't say his name. Obviously you can't 100% believe me as I am just some guy typing on a message board, but I thought I would at least deliver you the news I just received. Now I wouldn't rule out T-Mart starting if he woke up and felt magnificent tomorrow, but it is most likely going to be Cody and for sure will not be Zac. i get it, and i believe you have a reliable source. but could you say how your source knows? He's on the team lol.

  11. MARK IT DOWN. Cody Green is starting tomorrow. Lee is injured and out for the season. They are playing it safe with T-Mart.
  12. I'm pumped about this. I've heard the picture is pretty decent too.
  13. Under. they've accepted they'll lose o/u: 4 fumbles inside the five yard line
  14. That still leaves Auburn and Oregon with one loss each. They would remain ahead of us. Here's what we need to hope for: Bama loses to LSU LSU loses to Arkansas Bama beats Auburn Auburn loses SEC Championship Utah beats TCU Utah loses to ND, SDSU, or BYU Boise loses to Hawaii or Nevada Ohio St loses to Iowa or Michigan Wisconsin loses to Michigan Nebraska wins out and plays Oregon for MNC
  15. Pittsburgh isn't an at-large in Steele's projection, they're the Big East winner. The Big East is still AQ conference. For now. it is ridiculous that the big east is an aq. the conference champion should be in the top 15 to automatically get into a bcs game. While that's a plausible scenario, it would've hurt Nebraska last year had they beaten Texas in the CCG. It was a given that if NU won the CCG that we would play in a BCS bowl and we weren't a Top 15 team going into that game. Yeah but we would have moved into the top 15 after the game if we had beaten them, heck we even went up 2 spots with the loss. Ex-Zac-Lee what he says ^
  16. well the computers seem to like us a lot more than i expected. were sixth in the comp rankings. that's huge.
  17. alot of people think he committed to bo yesterday but doesn't want to announce it until he informs the Arkansas coaches. after watching that secondary performance along with the fact that a true freshman played great all game, how could he not want to be here?
  18. I'm not so sure Oregon is a sure bet to finish undefeated. They still have Arizona and Oregon State to play. I think the chances of Boise State finishing undefeated are better than Oregon's, IMO. Regardless of where they end up, if Nebraska ends up winning out and going to a BCS game, I think that would be a remarkable accomplishment for this team. The reason i left Oregon out of the conversation is because most likely, they will have to lose not one, but two games for us to jump them. The only way we jump them if they only have one loss is if they lose in, say, the last week of the season, and we just blow Oklahoma out of the water. I agree a Big XII Championship and BCS berth would be a huge success this year. Also to all that say "we need to focus on ISU, stop talking about this stuff". I'm a fan, so I'm going to talk about this stuff. This is what message boards are for. As long as Bo and team are focused on ISU, then that's what matters.
  19. you have to factor in the fact that we play in a CCG. voters have short memories. it's not hard for them to vote us ahead of teams that we were previously behind after a win vs Oklahoma when the other teams didn't even play. conference championships can be devastating to a season, but they can also be life-saving.
  20. Well it's a long shot, but here's what we need: All assuming Oregon wins out.. which they will. Also assuming Nebraska wins out of course. MUST HAPPEN: 1. Auburn needs to lose to Alabama AND maybe Georgia too (they could also lose in their conference championship game if they made it) 2. LSU needs to lose @ Arkansas in the last week of the season or in conference championship game if they made it. 3. Ohio St. needs to lose to Iowa or Michigan. 4. Alabama needs to lose to LSU/Mississippi St (probs not happening, but could lose in conference champ game if they made it) MIGHT NEED TO HAPPEN: 5. Wisconsin needs to lose to Purdue/Indiana/Michigan/Northwestern (we could maybe jump them if they don't lose) 6. Utah needs to lose to San Diego St/BYU/Notre Dame (probably jump them even if they win out tho) 7. TCU needs to lose to Utah/San Diego St (probably jump them even if they win out) 8. Boise needs to lose (probably jump them even if they don't) 9. Stanford has to lose a game (only chances are Oregon St and Arizona) but we could jump them anyways So 4 MUST HAPPEN scenarios and maybe more.
  21. You lost to unranked UT....at home. UT can't even beat ISU or UCLA. You've got a good team, but don't try and convince anyone that you are without question a top 5 team. It will be a good game, I doubt anyone is going to dominate. Mizzou is being extremely over hyped and for some reason people have forgotten about Nebraska. It will definitely be a good game. Josh Freeman never beat us and Blaine Gabbert never will. The curse of the de-commit.
  22. I love how a week ago, everyone realizes how overrated Oklahoma is. They have not been very impressive thus far this year, but suddenly they are crowned #1 by the BCS and everyone forgets how vulnerable they really are. Missouri beats them and suddenly Missouri is the greatest thing since sliced bread. People have forgotten how good we really are. We are a top 5 team and everyone will remember that after Saturday. Missouri thinks their defensive line is so great that they won't stack the box as much as they should. I expect Taylor to run wild and pass efficiently.
