  1. I like Jason Peter. I like what he says on the radio, and I happen to enjoy his rants and intensity. At the same time, I think hiring him onto the staff, from an neutral perspective, would be utter nonsense. He has been well established not only as a great Husker in the 90s, but also a self-admitted narcotics addict, who has suffered from depression and suicidal tendencies after his playing days were done. All of this has been confirmed by himself, via the HBO Real Sports interview, his book, and numerous interviews. While I admire his admission and courage to fight such a beast, these things still happened. Also, since these events happened already, his chances of relapsing are more likely than someone who has never encountered such ordeals. Is that a risk that the Athletic Dept. and Husker Nation are willing to accept? If so, then we could pardon Lawrence Phillips and Thunder Collins and make them coach the running backs (went too far whoops). From the inside as a Husker fan, I would hope he gets a chance if he ever wanted to pursue a spot on the staff. As a outsider (like a future recruit), I think it's just too risky.
  2. Seriously? You think nebraska football is just a game? Millions and millions of dollars invested. Coaches who are payed in seven digits, millions of fans across the country, hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars at stake during each game, and the pride and passion of an entire state...and you think its just a game!? The NFL is probably a game too huh? Even though its "professional". It is a game yes...but its not JUST a game. Its business. If it wasn't economically viable, no one would do it, just the sad facts. Husker football is more than a game. Just saying. That's what's kind of sad. I sure would like to see if anyone has done a study on the effects of Nebraska games (won/lost/off-season etc..) with respect to our state's economic indicators. I would guess, even for the fanatic, that such influences would be negligible, but I'm an optimist. I remember when we lost to Iowa State in Ames a few years back, and Lewis Black was performing at the Rococo Theatre in Downtown Lincoln that night. I heard he said something about watching the game and saying we better think up new sh*t real quick. Kind of summed it up for me at the time.
  3. You know I like the idea of firing people if they mess up. That show called "The Apprentice" really inspired me. I've never watched it actually, but from what I can tell from the commercials, he tells people "You're Fired". Just fire them on the spot. Our team would work better if we applied such a theory. Then you can hire the next guy, and while they are learning their job, if they mess up, you can fire them! On the same day! Maybe coming back from the toilet because he forgot to wash his hands! And so on and so on! Just because they were wrong. It's such a brilliant concept. If only we weren't HUMAN!
  4. Too early to tell, however this is a key time as head coach. How does he handle the pressure? It's playing before our eyes.
  5. I guess if by 2012 all the glaciers melt, then that might be a formidable term
  6. Um your wrong there, Bo answered that question fully by saying that he thought he did good, but people around him didn't play very well. However, i think you might be referring McNeill, as he was asked the same question and he said in a very low voice "Im not gonna talk about that." and walked away from the mic. The reporter had second thoughts, not Bo. I just wanted to add that my point was that when Bo walks into that room, he intimidates. That's all.
  7. During one of these past press conferences, I swore I heard a reporter ask Bo how Zac played today, and his voice faded towards the end as if he was having second thoughts about asking such a question. Found it humorous, that's all.
  8. I was born and raised in Omaha, now live in Lincoln. Probably never missed a Nebraska game, even in infancy, but have never been a psycho fanatic, letting every win/loss/tie affect me and how I interact with others for the following week. I played football for most of my life, but unfortunately around here it's known as soccer. While I'm a Nebraska fan, I can't claim to have played in high school: all I've learned has come from watching the boobtube. Thanks beanman and to the others here who paid for not only my education, but others as well. Ciao Ciao Meow Meow.
  9. One thing is for sure: there are a ton of bears posting on this board.
  10. It's in Waco. The coaches and players probably can't wait to get out of this town for a couple days. I think there's more pressure here than there will be down there. Whatever problems we have on offense aren't so much technical as they are psychological. We have some players that need to get over humps. Hopefully this game will get them back on track. All is not lost. GBR.
  11. I heard a rumor from an inside source that the sun will rise tomorrow. If it's possible for K-State to be in the lead, it's certainly possible for anyone (most importantly Nebraska) to turn it around and make it to the CCG. Because THE SEASON IS NOT OVER UNTIL THE FAT LADY SINGS so lighten up husker nation
