  1. All this just tells me that the stinkin season can't start soon enough. Good luck Montana, thanks for stopping by. Can't wait til every stinkin stadium starts rockin so I can experience the bliss that is college football.
  2. That sucks dude, if I was a part of that board I'd feel my money was wasted. I used to surf a lot of different boards b/c I often get bored at work and sometimes I just get lazy, but that's neither here nor there. This is the only board I come to b/c the threads are always enlightening and entertaining, and I appreciate the overall civility and lack of profanity in the threads. Good work to all mods and posters in this place.
  3. If he's right then shouldn't wyoming be due to win a super bowl pretty soon? Heck, we should be too.
  4. Is he the lineman from Elkhorn? or was that someone else?
  5. Is the specific date of his birth important? Is there a specific area (geographically) he was born in that is important? Is there something about his birth(way he was born, who his parents were, unusual circumstances, etc.) that gives him the distinction? Is it something the person did with his life that is distinctive?
  6. I had to look up "myopic" to see what it means. Good vocabulary, you guys are smart
  7. I've wondered, with the amount of talent we have coming in this year's freshman class if the staff will decide to redshirt some players at the skill positions. I don't really think we can afford to redshirt any of the WRs at this point, but if Brooks isn't ready to go either physically or mentally, I would at least hold him out of the first couple of games and see where he's at around the start of the Big XII season and how our other WRs are in terms of production and health. Here's hoping he's healthy...This has been the longest offseason ever, get to the games already!!!
  8. I've partied with this girl before at some of my fraternity's parties and she's not so innocent as she sounds. Mike Stuntz is doing OK.
  9. I really don't know why Ganz is ahead of Beck or if there's even a reason to it other than Beck's a true freshman and its the 2nd week of practice. But I have to say its encouraging that Beck (and probably the other newcomers too) are seeing that nothing's going to be handed to them based on what they accomplished in HS or JC. IMO feeling a little disrespected/undervalued is a strong motivator while being coddled and talked up is not. I wouldn't read anything into it and suddenly think Beck won't pan out, I think we all saw last season that being the qb in this offense is a huge challenge. Combine that with being 17 yrs. old, 1000 miles away from home, and trying to adjust to a totally different level of football and I'd say that's as much a reason as any that Beck may be getting fewer snaps than we might have expected.
  10. Their date of birth is the same as their year of birth: 1-9-78...1978
  11. They definately practiced this morning. I ride my bike past the stadium to work everyday and saw Taylor, Ganz, and others walking out of the stadium in full pads. I assumed they were heading to Cook or to the new facility, but didn't ask them.

    Beck

IMO if Beck starts this year it'll be because ZT struggled mightily or got hurt. Either way though, I've got to give a not to BC for having the foresight to get Taylor in here when he realized how badly we needed someone who would be ready to take the reins and lead from the very start of fall camp. Great job by BC on this one....so far.

    Beck

I've wondered too, is there some way to signal to the receivers what the play will be for them in order to shorten and simplify the play calls. Or do we already do that? I've also wondered, didn't the plays get signalled in from the sideline last year, rather than the qb talking to the coach and going back to the huddle? If the system is as complicated as advertised (Beck and ZT say the playbook is 8lbs.) then my guess is that some of the delays were likely due to a mixup in the signals from either the guy signalling or the JD not knowing what was being sent in. Either way, with 8lbs worth of plays it's not easy to simplify to a point where everything can be communicated with fewer words or hand gestures. Unless of course you want to tell someone F off.
  14. I'm feelin what rawhide had to say. There's nothing like gameday in Lincoln, but some of my best memories are when I was back on the farm as a kid. My dad and I were usually picking corn, putting up electric fence, or hunting pheasants. Walking along with headphones listening to the game was always a good way to block out the cold a$$ north wind. As for being in Lincoln, scoring the 1st TD or getting the first 3 and out for the Defense always brings out the home field advantage. Can't beat being there for the 1st series of the game.
  15. How bout the Snow Drifts, or the Swaying Bull Sacks, mascots may be too vulgar for the last one.
  16. Good point, I forgot to add that.
  17. Yeah, it was Grant Miller I believe. It's unclear whether he failed a team drug test, an NCAA test or some other test. He claims it was in some medication he took. Anyway, he was suspended from the team for it, so I don't see the university taking any heat for it. We'll see how the media takes to hounding us though. It seems they really like to push strong programs around for the sake of selling articles and making themselves out to be the righteous enforcers in the court of public opinion. I really do hate 90% of the media, but that's just me.
  18. If we get all those guys I'll send the entire coaching staff a valentine!!!
  19. Hey StuckinChicago...I couldn't agree more. That sports guy is dumb.
  20. While this is an interesting topic to discuss, frankly i'm a little disappointed. As fans of both Crouch and Frost I'll admit that there were moments I was frustrated/disappointed in both of them. However, I appreciate the effort they gave as Cornhuskers both on the field and off and IMO its more than a little unclassy to label either of them as "quitters".
  21. Do you think they'll burn the benches?
  22. While media day is only 1 day, it could be that BC is trying to set the "tone" that the media is not to be a distraction to the team. IMHO i don't really see where anything can be gained by the coaches and players being asked questions they've all been asked before and we've all heard the answers to. I don't think the loss of media day is any sort of slight to the fans, and I don't see how we lose something b/c it isn't going to take place.
  23. As practice draws closer the probable #1 and #2 have been speculated for positions. Who could be a surprising contributor/impact player this year that most folks haven't highlighted yet (i.e. Josh Bullocks in 03 or Kurt Mann in 04)? My first guess is Octavien. His name has been tossed around when talking about LBs but I'm thinking he'll be a much better player than people expect. If he's up to 235 now and can really run a 4.5 he could make a lot of plays people wouldn't expect. If he has the kind of motor to run plays down from the backside and can cover someone out of the backfield he'll be a force. My 2nd guess would be Frantz Hardy. He's been hyped a little more, but he seems to have the tools to be a DI reciever. Can't wait til Thursday.
  24. It appears we have plenty of depth at the DE position. We can talk all we want about size and speed, but Bernard Thomas was IMO a pretty athletic guy too. I just wonder if there's someone in the group who will emerge as a consistent force, someone that OC's will have to game plan around. I'm still concerned about his position b/c with the likes of Texas Tech and Pitt coming in to throw the ball, and a Brad Smith who allegedly will be less shackled as a pocket passer, a solid 4-5 sacks a game would help just as much as a stellar secondary. I'm hoping Carriker can be the man but for some reason i thought he was going to be switching sides during the game to "anchor" the wide side of the field. I may be completely wrong on that as i can't remember where i read it. Does anyone else remember hearing this?
  25. How bout the man and dog were out hunting in some sort of body of water, while there was a large fire going on nearby. the fire figthers used helicopters with water buckets to scoop water out of lakes and such to dump on the fire and the man and dog got scooped up and dropped on the fire...kinda like the scuba diver urban legend?
