  1. It's easy to overlook the positives you highlighted here b/c we have been such an inconsistent and unpredictable team. If we can find a way to consistently win the turnover battle each game and play well in the big matchups (the jury is still out on that as far as I'm concerned), then we can reach the next step of actually winning the conference, and that's what really matters. Earlier in this thread, someone mentioned that they feel this team is more like the 2009 team in how they came on stronger after some tough losses early on, and I would agree with that sentiment IF we find a way to get through the next 4 games without reverting back to the sloppy form we've already seen a few times this season, which is more reminiscent of our 2010 and 2011 squads, espcially in November.
  2. I would say Ciante is just a couple steps away from becoming the Dejon Gomes of this D, and that would be something special.
  3. I could argue that Chatelain is tops, with Sam right on his heels.
  4. I figured injury was the reason we didn't see Heard at all on Saturday, so I'm glad to see that's the reason he didn't play. When he's healthy, Heard is just as dynamic a runner as AA, the only difference being that AA is able to fight through tackles a bit better. I can't remember which game it was, but Damon Benning really gave Heard props. Something to the tune of Heard can do the most with tight holes b/c he's so explosive. I don't know about you, but when a Husker RB from our 90s squads says something like that, it really makes me want to see a whole lot more of Heard.
  5. I'm most worried about a let down with Mich St this weekend. They played inspired ball to beat Wiscy at Camp Randall, and even though their record doesn't show much success, they barely lost to tOSU, Mich and Iowa (combined 6 points, I believe). It's always tough for Nebraska to win on the road (at least in the B1G), and MSU has proven they can beat very good teams on their home field. The realist in me wouldn't be surprised to see us lose a close game this weekend. Having Penn St at home helps us a ton. I would say they are deceptively good this year, even though their rankings and the losses they've had indicate otherwise. Minnesota - the only thing that could keep us from winning is us shooting ourselves in the foot...or coming in too confident after beating 2 of the conferences best (MSU and PSU) and then having a sloppy loss, alah NWU 2011. I would like to think Iowa will be fodder for us, but I'm of the belief that these Thanksgiving games will bring out the best in our opponents. Maybe that was just a Colorado thing, but with us being on the road this year, this will be no walk in the park. Best case scenario, we go undefeated before getting into the championship game. Most likely scenario, we lose to either MSU or PSU and get into the championship b/c of the tie-breaker over Mich.
  6. unbelievable. oh how i wish we could blow defenses off the line like the good old days.
  7. hey-o! a wasted timeout if nothing else at least we caused that
  8. It would be just our luck if PJ didn't actually catch this
  9. considering what happened with taylor's turnover, that sack was a great way to end the half
  10. YYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
  11. and now for the last thing we needed going into the half
  12. mr. enigma. let's see his tom brady impression next time
  13. we just can't afford to do that offensively. almost as bad as a turnover
  14. When will we learn to make plays on the ball? Goodness!
  15. 4 quarters of execution. we're due after all. let's see it huskers!
  16. The turnover battle is huge. If we turn it over to the tune of giving Mich an extra 2-4 offensive possessions, that will be the differenence in the game. Not to be captain obvious, but the more you have the ball offensively, the more likely you'll score more than your opponent. Regardless of where NU and MU are ranked in turnover margin, it comes down to this one night and who can win the turnover battle. This prediction thread (or any prediction thread for Nebraska) is nearly impossible to get right b/c this team is so freaking unpredictable. Along with the aforementioned turnover battle comments, the prediction of unpredictability is the only thing you can bank on. That being said, Nebraska is going to have to prove me wrong b/c I think Mich takes this one.
