  1. True or not....that's what I like to hear. That was a direct quote from Crabtree on the zone this afternoon. So it's definitely true. He said that Rivals has heard nothing about NU losing Cooper or Owa. He definitely thinks that there is a REALLY good chance that Owa will be in with Nebraska, and he hasn't heard anything positive or negative on Cooper.
  2. Crabtree on 1620 just commented live... "I still think that Nebraska's chances with Owa are pretty good, let's put it that way"
  3. Yeah I like him as a WR or RB better... he seems to have some breakaway speed.
  4. I totaly agree with this here. great post. Why Thank You!!
  5. Is there any chance that Bell or Enunwa aren't going to make it? Or what if our receivers competition is so bad that we desperately need competition there so we're taking an extra.
  6. The fro just makes him look bigger... he is a stick man.
  7. I think Owa, Cooper, and Carnes will all be in. I have a good feeling. Owa has gushed about Nebraska too much and now his mom is okay with him going there. I believe a direct quote from Owa after his in home last week was "my mom doesn't care about the distance anymore, there's too many good things about that school for distance to be a factor." Cooper loves Marvin Sanders and had to appreciate that Sanders came last week just to hang out and not talk about football. He has to appreciate that NU is letting him have his time and not pressuring him. Also, A direct quote from Sanders concerning NU's coaching staff was "Coach Bo showed me all the great safeties he has coached over the years that are now in the NFL, that was pretty incredible." Carnes was spotted at "the bowl" with Latravis Washington having a blast. He had called his coach to tell him his visit "couldn't have gone better" before he even got on the plane, because while he was on the plane Rivals contacted his coach and got all sorts of information about the visit. Carnes has been quiet about Lincoln... I'm guessing it was better than expected, blew him away, and he had a blast with Latravis. He's going to WKU next weekend and their facilities are like kindergarten facilities compared to NU's collegiate facilities. Carnes said the weather was not an issue and that it wasn't bad at all. So I say that on signing day Cooper and Owa will be in. Carnes will sign on signing day or shortly after.
  8. There's a new teaser on Rivals about Carnes visit last weekend. I'm guessing this one is actually from Carnes and not his coach. Can anyone give us insight?
  9. That's actually a compliment when it comes to talent evaluation and recruiting. So are you saying this kid and Evans are superior athletes over Corey Young, Souder and Levorson??? I'm not trying to get into anything, but Cally offered ships to all of these guys that lasted a year at NU, they ended up transferring to UNO or quit football. I guess Bo was right, he said he'd get his QB and he got him. Young, Souder and Levorson all were fantastic athletes who were absolute head cases. Souder in particular who was certifiable, literally. Callahan was a tireless worker on the recruiting trail. If some of the absolutely lazy assistants we had hit the trail as hard as Cally and his boys did, we would be hauling in monster classes year after year. And if you think Marsh even has a chance at QB, then I don't know what to tell you. Marsh has about as much business with a Nebraska offer as I do. I disagree... I think Marsh may not be able to compete as a QB, but he will be a spectacular Safety. He will have an extra year and a half to learn the position and the system. WIth his toughness and Bo's teaching... he will be awesome at that position and may just be a "safety" pick up for if Corey Cooper decides to go elsewhere.
  10. Just heard over on the huskerpedia board that Bell has posted a 4.29 40 speed TWICE!!!!! The kid looks like a stick figure... but give him a props for his speed!!
  11. Absolutely hilarious how this has blown up all over the boards!!
  12. My guess Owa said they are all in a dead heat because if he didn't then everyone would be pushing for him to commit right now. Also he probably added OSU because if it was just UCLA and Nebraska he would get a lot crap from people from the state of Oregon...just my opinion. Or this Recruiting politics are so stupid... If you know you like someone... and you're supposed to follow your heart. Announce today. You know he has to be sick of the 1908889 phone calls/day from recruiting services, newspapers, etc.
  13. If Owa was a silent commit... why would he be bringing OSU back into it and taking OU out of it.. and why would he keep pushing his announcement date back? Oh and for the record, the rivals analysts say history proves these situations playing out with the home school winning. I don't understand how we can be in a dead heat with UCLA and OSU... REALLY!!!!!????? Both of those schools will never win a national championship and we will most likely be playing for one in the next 3 years.
  14. Lache Seastrunk a 5* RB also has Oregon in his top 3, and Rivals projects that he is an O lean and will probably end up there.
  15. Actually, it would be a tie in that case. Nebraska would win for football and UCLA would win for academics. Not true. NU would win for academics as the academic support program at NU for athletes is far above that of UCLA's. See academic all-americans. It could be considered a wash. Granted UCLA has the name behind the program, but for athletes going to a top tier program isn't as important as having the support system for their degree. Not to mention the reason for UCLA being above NU is not for undergrad reasons, it's their research work and graduate schools that are superior. Then we should define what we mean by "academics," because quality of education (the top scholars as your professors and higher entrance requirements) and academic support (tutors, etc. to help athletes do well in their classes) are two different things. If we mean the former, then pretty much everyone who didn't go to UNL agrees that UCLA wins. If we mean the latter, then UNL wins. Precisely!! I think academics to Owa does not mean "the major I want, and people to help me make good grades." I think he's looking at the quality of education. Like... which school will give me a degree that will be recognized as prestigious across the country. Degrees like Stanford, Harvard, Duke, Princeton, Yale... moving out of ivy league... UT, A&M, Vanderbilt, Pennsylvania, UCLA, CAL Berkley, UNC, USC...These schools are all extremely difficult to get into. They are very selective, thus their degrees are worth a ton. Nebraska may have a lot of programs set up to help people succeed. They may have a lot of athletes with high GPA's but that doesn't mean that those kids are brilliant... it could mean the classes are easy and the kids are getting a lot of help. I'm not saying Nebraska does not have good academics... but out of state the degree will not be worth near as much as one of these other schools will be. Just Sayin...
  16. Since we are all Nebraska fans and most of us have been around the culture and the pure awesomeness of Nebraska for a while now of course we see our school as being way better than the others. But you have to take this into consideration... Owa is 18 years old. When I was 18 years old looking at colleges what I looked for in a school was entirely different than what I would look for today. So here's what I'm saying. This kid is 18 years old and is looking at probably the biggest decision he has ever made in his life. He has the option of staying within a few hours of home, going to Oregon, starting all four years, being a superstar, having awesome Nike facilities, playing in a conference he is very familiar with that he probably believes to be really good (despite the fact that we all know it's not) and he probably says... man I can go to Oregon and get most of the same stuff I could get at Nebraska. He looks at UCLA and sees the weather, the women, the academic reputation that the school has nationally. He sees that UCLA is still pretty close to home (14hrs) and that he would still be in an area that was comfortable for him... west coast. He sees that there is a Nigerian community there. He knows he could be a star at UCLA and he knows that there are a lot of Hollywood stars, and NFL people in LA. He sees the success that west coast schools have in getting guys to the pros. I see him liking UCLA. If I am an 18 year old looking at schools it makes more sense for me to stay close to home on the west coast. What's eating him up is that when he went to Nebraska the fans knew him, everyone welcomed him, the stadium was electric, Our defense is amazing and nationally recognized on TV every week. He would have the chance of playing right after Suh... of keeping the portland legacy alive. He sees the stardom he can have at Nebraska and the coaching he will receive there. He sees the kindness of the fans and the family atmosphere at UNL. So he feels like he an adapt... he knows he has a better shot of getting to the NFL at Nebraska. He knows that it's in Nebraska though... most people outside of the state think it is in the middle of nowhere. They see the education as mediocre compared to Texas, OU, A&M...etc. So I mean... we know where he needs to end up. But most 18year olds, no matter how mature, are not mature enough or brave enough to take the big leap of faith and go. It's too scary and they find ways of finding enough reasons to stay close to home to talk themselves out of going far away... because they're scared. I think when it's all said and done he will respect, love, and cherish Nebraska... but I think he will pick west coast, either UCLA or Oregon. And ultimately I think he will listen to his coaches, mom, and go where they are most at peace with him going.
  17. Brion Carnes Prospective Schools. WKU, USF, NU The Battle of the Stadiums... 3rd Place... Western Kentucky... looks like a division II stadium. Come on guys... even Baylor can do better than that. 2nd Place... University of South Florida... holds 65,000 but considering they don't usually fill it up... this picture is a rareity. Oh yeah... and they have to share it with an NFL team, so it's not even theirs. It's got Buckaneer stuff all over it as you can see the giant pirate ship in the bottom left hand corner. 1st Place... University of Nebraska... holds 86,000+, sold out over 300 consecutive games. OH... and couldn't fit the entire stadium in a picture so it had to be taken with an arial shot... no big deal... you have to be in the sky to fit all of it in a picture. Where would you want to spend your Saturday's?
  18. Have no Fear Husker Greats!! Carnes has never been on a plane before this trip... so i'm guessing he's never seen snow before. Being a Texas kid... I understand the mentality that southerners have when it comes to snow. He's probably having the best time of his life seeing snow for the first time ever, flying first class on an airplane for the first time ever, and getting star treatment!! Since He's from Florida... the snow will add to the experience. Since we never get it, it's a treat not a burden!! : )
  19. Ah!!!! Why can't he just announce already? I am so ready to know where he is going the suspense is killing me!!
  20. So far this is what I have... but I have a feeling there is much more. Those Who Have Been Asked To Walk On OL Lincoln Hansen - 6'6" 290 5.5 staff wants him to be a Preferred Walk-On, he has a scholie with another school and is having trouble turning down money. DB Yusef Wade - 5'11" 175 4.5 good possibility he will walk on. WR Ben Renshaw - 6'5" 210 4.5 good possibility he will walk on. K/P Jason Dann - 6'0" 160, from Texas... VERY GOOD TEXAS KICKER!!! LB Trevor Roach - 6'3" 225 4.6 Pledged to walk on. Possible Walk-Ons To Look Out For OL Joe Burgess - 6'6" 300 - (we offered him a scholarship initially) OL Gary Hiat - 6'3" 280 5.1 OL Chris Reed - 6'5" 300 5.2 DB Dion Jones - 5'11" 195 4.5 DB John Nielsen - 6'1" 205 4.5 WR Sir Bullock - 6'1" 175 4.5 WR Lavant Moore - 6'3" 180 4.6 RB Jeff Seybold - 5'10' 200 4.5 ** RB Antaries Daniels - 5'11" 190 4.5 (camped) ** RB Stephon Washington - 5'8" 175 4.4 (camped) LB Trevor Roach - 6'3" 225 4.6 LB Ezra Schantz - 6'3" 205 4.6 (plans to walk on) DT Jeff Uher - 6'1" 257 4.95 (plans to walk on) LB Austin Williams - 6'2" 190 4.7 (contemplating walking on) DT Andy Gdowski - 6'4" 245 (contemplating walking on)
  21. I would like to know who Bo and Staff are targeting as potential 2010 walk ons. What have you guys been hearing? And for those of you who live in Nebraska, what have they been saying up there?
  22. Considering that 5 of the offensive spots on the field are OL shouldn't we theoretically pick up 4 OL/year to keep the OL 3 deep? If we got 4 good Offensive Linemen per year then it would theoretically give us 16 scholarship linemen... and assuming we have a couple red-shirt each year, and a few injuries each year... that would give us 3 deep at each position. Teams like Texas, Florida, and Bama do this. I feel like part of our offensive line problem is that we settle with 2-3 quality guys each year when we really need 4-5. You also have to realize that when Callahan got the boot, several of his O-Linemen left too. Burkes had medical issues. A couple of guys never developed like they were expected to.... etc. We only have a few upperclassmen on the line. So don't you think we need to be bringing in some extras (like we have with the defense) to bridge that gap that callahan screwed us with? I think in a perfect world, if we had more scholies we would take Simiek and Fulton. I'm expecting 5 OL scholarships to be allocated for next year. Look for us to pick up a *****, a couple of ****, and a couple of *** OL players next year.
  23. Yes Ron Brown is HUGE spiritual guy and Aaron's brother is at Nebraska. I think if he goes away from home NU is his #1... if he is going to go far there shouldn't be any other schools that factor in because NU has everything he wants. The reason I say UT and Texas A&M is because both are close to home and have the spiritual factor... so he would have the family and spiritual there too. A&M has a high powered developing offense that uses a lot of run. UT's offensive coordinator sucks... they haven't had a good running back since he's been there because they abandon the running backs. Think about it... they had Ricky Williams and Cedrick Benson under the old system and thrived there... since then... nothing. So I think if a good running back goes to Texas he is wasting his talent because he will never be developed and utilized to his potential. I think NU is the best school for Aaron in all categories except for 1. Distance. NU has family (his brother is there) NU has a great FCA program and a good group of spiritual players especially at running back in Helu and Burkhead. Plus Ron Brown is his recruiter. NU has a great reputation of being a good running team with good running backs. NU has a great fan base and great academics. NU has a great reputation of putting players on both sides of the ball in the NFL. NU is on the rise with a coach that is awesome! NU has at least 4-5 (maybe more) 4**** offensive linemen coming in this year and next that are great run blockers. UT and A&M... well being from Texas myself... it sucks, but a lot of great Texas kids grow up on them and end up staying in state.
  24. On Rivals it says Talman updated the OWA thread a minute ago... quick, someone with a subscription fill us in!!!
  25. Aaron Green favored NU and USC... but with the USC coaching change that gives NU a clear lead. I worry about 2 things... Texas a&m and Texas. The reason I say this is because Aaron's #1 priority with the school he picks is spirituality. He is a super spiritual guy who really wants a spiritual coaching staff and spiritual friends. Texas A&M definitely meets that!! Texas coach Mac Brown is a spiritual guy and Colt Mccoy and Jordan shipley were and went there with that in mind... Both of these schools have really good offenses so I feel they will be major contenders for him in the long run. *gulp*
