  1. Don't read this stuff. Websites and magazines have to make money and get readers. By posting stuff like this it raises eyebrows and makes people read that is all it's for and we need to be optomistic but not to much so about next season. Be prepaired for a letdown if you think this is true at least that's what im doing so if it does happen it will be a pleasent surprise.
  2. This was discussed on 1620 today. Don't remember the guys name but he said that the pac-10 will never add byu because they are not a research institute. He also said that is just a nice way of saying they won't add them because of the religious implications that come along with byu. Just like not wanting a playoff or a ccg the pac-10 will hide behind acedemics for a reason not to do something.
  3. Holy crap that makes me happy. Maybe we can get writers as good as the other conferences have on there.
  4. This is crazy to think mccoy is a better pick but i hope it happens and suh ends up at a better franchise
  5. Nebraska never will go to the pac-10 but CU has been in the talks of pac-10 exansion since day one. That may actually help CU if they played a lot in cali they may get some recruits from the left coast.
  6. Why is it that whenever I compare Nebraska to any other team someone says something like this. I obviously don't think we are "Mississippi" (I have heard them called that about as many times as I've heard LSU called Lousianna State University). I am just using the other teams as a frame of reference.
  7. 1. Nebraska: The offense should be able to average over twenty points a game and that will be more than enough to win all the big twelve north games. 2. Misery: I hate to say it but B. Gabbert scares the crap out of me. He will make there offense tick for the next few years. 3. K-State: Snyder is one of my favorite coaches in history who didn't coach for Nebraska he will have a decent team and could possibly challenge MU. 4. Iowa State: I don't really have any reason for ranking them here besides a gut feeling that they could be decent and the rest of the north is pretty bad. 5. Kansas: They will play in some close games because Gill will have them playing really hard but they just dont scare me on either side of the ball. 6. Colorado: I hate them almost more than texas and will be happy to see them terrible. As a side note I generally root for every north team in all non conference games except misery and CU i hate them with all my heart.
  8. I kind of said this in another thread already but thought it might deserve its own. I am very concerned that NU is becoming this years Ole' Miss. Last year a lot of the preasoon hype was that Ole' Miss could win the SEC west and contend for a NC. I just hope we aren't getting to far ahead of ourselves here. Thoughts.....
  9. Guys lets not get ahead of ourselves here. I know the schedule looks fairly easy and the offense could be better. I just don't want our fanbase to become Ole' Miss fans from last year. I heard all offseason how good Ole' Miss would be last year and look what happened to them. Lets just wait till we kick the crap out of the huskies to get real excited. Stay calm and keep the faith.
  10. As far as facilities go I have a buddy that works for Alabama. He takes all the recruits on their tours around the stadium and other facilities. He told me this a couple years ago but I'm fairly positive it is still true that he has to tell all of them that they have the second biggest weight room in the country and that it is like three cubic feet smaller than NEBRASKA'S. I have been to about three games at Bryant-Denney Stadium and it is no where near as nice as Memorial stadium. Plus their fans only get excited for big games and other wise sit in their seat and stay quiet. Check out the thread about which schools are worth more money according to Forbes. We rank one spot above Alabama and could pay the coachs more money if they earn it. As you said Saban has a proven track record and I beleive he deserves every dollar he gets but if Bo and his assistants win they will get paid.
  11. A lot of their players do come from Alabama but they also pull recruits from other places. Mark Ingram is from Michigan. I live in Alabama and get to watch a lot of really good high school football but not all of their players are from Alabama. It would be nice if we could pick up heavy hitters from other states like they do as well. Our tradition is ten times cooler though and our fans our are a lot better. I have been to tailgates at Nebraska where there were Iowa state fans or Kansas Fans at Bama if you are wearing the other teams colors you are yelled at the entire time you are in town. I only want to win like bama not be bama.
  12. To be a huskers fan you have to have video of past orange bowl and fiesta bowl victorys downloaded onto your computer and watch them daily. I think you have to do that it's what I do.
  13. I sure hope we don't have to start talking funny like them. If you guys ever get a chance I suggest listening to the Paul Finebaum show. I know I often accuse people of drinking to much Kool-Aid; BUT WOW!!!!!. That show is absolutely hilarious. I listen to Finebaum everyday and have actually called in about this. Finebaum is a huge fan of Bo Pelini. I have met Paul he is just as much of a card in real life as he is on the radio. If yall have never heard the show they talk about the Alabama Auburn rivalry everyday and it is halarious to hear the rednecks argue back and forth. It's fun to call in and say the Big 12 is better than the SEC. Everytime I do that it starts two hours worth of phone calls of people calling me an idiot.
  14. I don't want nebraska to be alabama at any time except on the field. Our fans and tradition are just fine the way they are I was just saying I like the way alabama plays smash mouth football. We can't, don't, or won't ever be like Bama... Because we are Nebraska
  15. Man I would be so happy to see that. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall listening to Saban and Bo talk about defense. They have to be the two smartest defensive coachs in college football. I bet the conversation between them about the texas game went like this. Saban: How did you get so much pressure on Mccoy? Bo: I put #93 at nose tackle Saban: How did you disrupt their timing in the passing game? Bo: I put #93 at nose tackle Saban: How did you game plan against their running game? Bo: I put #93 at nose tackle Saban: You think he could transfer before the NC?
  16. I am in Russellville. I go to Huntsville fairly often I have a brother that plays music up there fairly often. JR was frikin awesome when I met him. I ended up talking to him for about thirty minutes.
  17. After seeing Alabama and Nick Saban win the NC this year it has got me wondering why cant we be the same kind of team. Saban is all about the defense and mostly the secondary, much like Bo, Saban is fiery and expects nothing less than perfect exacution, much like Bo, Saban is hard on his assistant coaches, much like Bo, and Saban has a OC that wants to run run run then use play action passing to pick up big chunks of yardage, nothing like what we have. I just don't understand why we think we can't run out of i-formations more often and have to pass the ball to win. If you watch as much football as I do you quickly realize that defense and a good running is the recipe for a national title. Our program is a lot like Alabama except for the fact that they have a lot more in state talent to recruit from. If we could move our offense to more of a running style that relys a lot less on timing and the qb we would have a lot better chance of being even more like bama and win a national title.
  18. I agree totally, let Gilbert know what the turf at Memorial looks like up close and personal I played some high school football on the same kind of surface. It really sucks when you hit the ground and that shredded tire stuff flies up into your face. Lets hope gilbert has little black specks all over his face all game long.
  19. I was a dishwasher at a steak house that used to have a lot of rich business guys come in. I don't really know what they were doing meeting with the business guys but Johnny Rodgers and Eric Crouch came in together. They both signed my apron and I have it on my wall. It was pretty cool to have two of the three heisman winners talking to me at the same time.
  20. Owa this is the most important day of your life. You can come and put on a blackshirt and be a legend for all husker fans or you can play in the sand at ucla and never realize your potential. Oh yeah you could also walk around wearing stuff saying your a beaver all the time. Personally I would pick being a legend.
  21. For the sake of my health please don't post things unless you know with 100% confidence. I am 24 and am afraid of a heart attack if this roller coaster keeps it up.
  22. OWA WATCH - 2009 Were you there? Yes I was and when he signed with Nebraska I was so excited I farted, burped, sneezed, peed, and pooped all at the same time.
  23. I would beleive what ez-e says or the other informed people on this website before crabtree. I know all of us on this message board are biast but crabtree seems to be more of a "flip flopper" than john kerry. Ez-e is my new go to guy for recruiting.
  24. Man this is a crazy ride. Yesterday I thought we were out then this oregon commit says this. I just want this to be over with. I feel like I just asked a girl out and am holding my phone waiting on a text back from her.
  25. So this is my first post on huskerboard. I have been reading the Owa pages for a few weeks and just decided to throw in my own two cents. IMO a lot of us thought we had at least a silent commit from owa by sunday night (I actually was throwing out high fives during the saints game). I don't think we were wrong by believing that we just have to understand that we may be in the lead it's just not a for sure thing yet. I was dumb enough to add Owa on facebook just like a lot of people were but I did it before i realized people were actually commenting on his wall and he is getting very annoyed by it. I assumed that like me other people adding Owa just did it incase he posted something on his status about his commitment but apparently grown men feel the need to argue with each other and try to convince Owa one way or the other on his wall on a website that most college guys use to pick up girls and keep up with friends from their hometowns. It is rediculous that Owa had to say something about that on his facebook. My gut feeling is that we have a better chance at seeing Cooper and Carnes sign than we do Owa. I would be very very happy if we got Owa and I'm saying we have about a 65% percent chance at this point.
