  1. Being put in a situation where I'm not getting credit for the work I did on a publication, but can't say anything because the first author has strong influence over my career. Not thrilled.

      If you contributed to the publication, what's the reason behind you not being credited as an author? IIRC, you're in a PhD program; publications are currency.

      @It'sNotAFakeID I'm in a tenure track position now. I'm credited as an author, but I'm at last author well below two people who I'm 100% sure did less work on the project than I did. I can't call the guy out on it (it's unethical) because I need him to be a letter writer on my behalf for grants and stuff like that until I'm established in my career. So I just have to more or less take it on the chin. He and I have a weird relationship this is just the last instance on a long time thing.

      You calling him out is not unethical, you not being given due credit is unethical. Sounds like somebody I really wouldn't want to work for. I would get what I can career wise and split asap.
